  1. Lol rewatch the ep with Ross Noble as the star....pretty sure he mentioned TG employ people to search for the women and put them in the front
  2. Start of the rot??? Taken from the evening standard....
  3. ROFL....hopefully it'll be dry this time around
  4. Lol Jack I know its been a while but.... For those that haven't been there before (or the details have slipped their minds ) click here for the map: http://www.phillipislandcircuit.com.au/map.html ...oh and Jack make sure you go left when leaving the pits
  5. Looks awesome...look forward to some in car footage I still have a soft spot for these from my time in the UK
  6. I would advise u to find a spot YOU are comfortable with and put it there. Just don't forget the possibility that u may need it when you are upside down hanging in you harness
  7. yep quite easy and you don't even need to twist your torso. Next time you are sitting in your car try it. I wouldn't have put it there if I couldn't get to it easily... I did actually think about it and try it before fitting
  8. Whoa there fella, some of us have to put kiddies to bed before spending time in the man cave Here you go... As for getting shirty....maybe its the engineer in me getting defensive when one of my carefully thought out designs get questioned
  9. You and me both....although for diff reasons. I went to Sandown and was gentle on the motor for the first two sessions checking knock and temps etc...then the rain hit and out went my chance of a PB No matter as I enjoyed the entry to the front straight and I will live to fight another day! Good luck with the prep/fixes.
  10. Lol at the fezza BBQ pics Will take a pic for you when I get home but I used the bolt behind the drivers seat that attaches the rear seat bottom cushions to the car. Firstly, I couldn't agree with you more John. The closer and more accessible the ext is to the driver the better - if I had a roll cage there would be a mount as close as possible to me. Matt - I am not disagreeing with you but would appreciate if you keep personal opinion regarding the suitability of my fire ext position off of a public forum. Bottom line is that the regs are a grey area at best, but despite this my mounting meets all of the requirements and more importantly I am confident that in an emergency situation I can get to the ext. At the end of the day, if there was a fire situation I will not be hanging around and would try and escape from the vehicle as quickly as possible. No one knows how they would react in this kind of emergency situation until they are in it but I can say that I am better prepped than most having recieved certification to escape from a submerged, dark, upside down helicopter + fire fighting training. As far as I can tell these CAMS regs are written for a worst case situation where after an accident the driver is trapped in their harness upside down with an in cabin fire - hence the part in bold that I highlighted. While the potential is there for this type of accident the chances are pretty slim of it actually occuring.
  11. Wow...so what you are saying is that your harness (if you have one in the S15, I can't remember) is so loose that you are able to bend forward in order to retrive the fire ext from the floor in between your legs? Remeber tech the rule states: Must be fitted with a fire extinguisher securely mounted on a metal bracket with metal straps within the cabin and readily accessible to the driver whilst still in the seat belt or harness Like most rules in motorsport reg's the interpretation of the rule by two different people can vary. I would look at the postion where you have mounted the ext as being not accessible by the driver when still tight in the harness whereas I can still reach mine (I know I tested it).
  12. From the supp regs.... b) Must be fitted with a fire extinguisher securely mounted on a metal bracket with metal straps Check - my fire ext came with a metal bracket and two metal straps within the cabin and readily accessible to the driver whilst still in the seat belt or harness Check - I've strapped myself in and can readily get the ext. and which complies with AS 1841 (save that extinguishers which meet AS 1841.2 are not permitted), and be of at least 900gms capacity. Halon/BCF extinguishers are not permitted. The extinguisher and the bracket must be a compatible set, (i.e. as supplied by the manufacture of the extinguisher.)Check The extinguisher should be retained within the bracket by at least one (1) metal strap Check. The bracket should be secured using a minimum of 2, Grade 6 or greater bolts, of a minimum 6mm diameter, and self - locking nuts Check - the fire ext bracket is mounted to the car using 2 bolts of a suitable grade. A suitably sized body washer may be required to provide extra support for the bracket. The securing system must be able to withstand a 25g deceleration. Look as far as I am concerned the ext is mounted as per the supp regs. Tech the plate that the bracket is mounted on is part of the car. The plate isn't 1mm sheet metal, its a 5mm thick lump of steel securely attached to the car. Under 25g I'd be far more concerned about the metal bracket holding onto the fire ext than the plate mount coming away or deforming from its position.
  13. Awesome shots there bluey Perhaps Luke and I should start a drifting comp at Sandown....when its wet
  14. Holy skids Jack...now I see what you were talking about! Good steering Luke...haha you look so comfortable in the seat its like your going up to the local shops for some milk
  15. Car looks tops Russ and good work on the shakedowns Man that wing is high! I look forward to seeing it in person and good luck with the whole WTA thing.
  16. Damn the weather gods! Was looking forward to Sandown for two reasons, one I have a lot of unfinished business there and secondly I was looking forward to sampling my new setup at the track. Well after the day, I still have unfinished business there but I did enjoy sampling the new setup even if unleashing the new ponies in the wet wasn't what I had in mind Well done to all SAU peeps for keeping it off of the walls in some challenging conditions. Getting used to a new setup can take some time but after the first two sessions when I felt confident the rain hit...basically the only session that was dry was the practice with only light misty rain falling, 1st timed session got heavier and after that just got worse. Whilst lap times were out of the window, I did enjoy sliding the car through the last turn and turn 1 and I had a ball! That being said, feeling the car twitch under full noise in 4th and 5th gear in the two straights when hitting standing water was....errrr...interesting Also met a fair few SAU members in the pits, so was good to meet you all. Bring on the next round with will hopefully be dry!
  17. If you are concerned even after flushing and pulling stuff apart consider mesh filters in various supply lines to the engine (coolant/oil etc etc) after putting back together. Similar to the ones used in dry sump setups.
  18. Bump. Exhaust still avail....make an offer as I want it gone! Closest to $400 wins
  19. Gday mate...looong time no hear! Thanks for the comments
  20. There is no way my old GTR exhaust was a noisy as your thing Roy so I was never picked up at Sandown. That being said I have witnessed a few cars like commos get booted so I do know it is enforced...well at least while the EPA bloke is there
  21. Yeah I really need to have a chat to Chris about his brakes and what they were like. Might seem silly to some but I always said that if I was upgrading bits on my car I would fit top shelf stuff thats got proven results. That being said, I'm not made of money and the cost of an Alcon or AP set is pretty hard to justify when the china stuff seems to do ok.... Are you going to review them on track as well? See that was your first mistake
  22. ROFL you do put a smile on my face mate! As for the tbone under brakes, I'm not so sure that you are going to get the chance. At the moment I dare say that there are a few too many ponies under the bonnet for the stock brakes to rein in lap after lap. Hence the kamikaze paint job for the cam covers...who needs brakes...everyone knows that the fastest lap times are always set when you miss your brake markers See thats not it....I think its a lack of interest/mech. understanding more than anything else. Sure there are plenty of girls out there who are interested but I can literally see the lack of interest/understanding on my missus face the second I start getting into details. I'm more than happy to explain the finer details but whats the point when its going in one ear and not the other?
  23. Yeah I know....but I'd be kicking myself if I turned up, paid the money and they knocked me back because of something so small Sandown makes me scared so prev setup only yielded a flat 1:23. While I will be aiming for teens, I will be held back by the fact my balls are smaller than usual at Sandown
