  1. Mark actually its the location of the weight that can make the diff. I'm sure it was the case of space for the skyline but that 2 or so kilos after the rear axle in the rear driver could make it harder to control in an oversteer situation. Keep in mind that the skyline was soley developed to go racing so they weren't worried how small the boot was. Anyway as I said in most modern road cars (take bmw's for example) the engineers do't have the room to put in a full spare....people wan't bigger boots/larger interiors etc.
  2. Got nothing to do with saving money there Decepticon....most of the time (esp imports) they can't fit a full size spare in the space allowed. The other reason is to save weight.
  3. Congrats Bass you b@stard.... Somehow I think the drive home in the line is going to feel VERY slow
  4. Yes you can jump from the battery but it is better to do from the points in the engine bay as they are closer to the engine (less loss). You can disconnect the battery and charge it while it is in the boot. BTW how big is the battery???...I had a huge battery in there (commo/falcon sized) and had no trouble removing it.
  5. Happy Birthday J Look forward to having a drink with you when I get back
  6. Hey Nic.....front bar on the blue one would be a copy (?) of an early R33 GTR front bar....the N1 vents were only added on the series 2 (I think) and definitly the series 3 GTR. Side skirts are diff....the 400r ones have the little vents in them on the rear 1/4 section. Hope that helps
  7. Cam....the ext can be fitted anywhere as long as it can be reached by the driver whilst belted in the drivers seat. Mines against the tunnel in the passenger footwell, however have also seen it mounted behind the drivers seat under the rear seat padding on the vertical section (if that makes sense!!). R34...if the event is being run as a CAMS sanctioned event then yes the ext is mandatory.
  8. Excellent work Daniel Makes me wish I was there Look forward to seeing your future vids
  9. Usual oil temps are btw 80-95deg. When driving hard with 38-40deg ambient temps can see 110+ but drops quickly with an oil cooler once you back off. Higher pressure is fine....its low pressure you gotta worry about. When pushing hard on high boost I can see pressure of 8 on my gauge
  10. Hey mate, just had my line moved from Vic to Perth using an enclosed service. Was done by TNT and I'd highly recommend them. Car is low with some fibreglass hanging off the front and it arrived in the condition it left in. Also car was as clean as when it left. Probably not the cheapest but there are a lot of cowboys out there.
  11. What do you mean by composite?? Fibreglass is a composite material. Composite just means that it is made up using different materials. Did you mean carbon fibre?
  12. Viper...I think its funny that you want to go coilovers for bumpy roads Actually coilovers are designed for smooth track use and can be a pain to use on ozzie roads. You actually need a suspension with a bit of give in it.....that way if you hit a bump mid corner the car absorbs the bump and won't skip across the road.
  13. Hi All, What a great day....great weather, good people and little or no incidents always makes for a good cruise! This was the first cruise I have been on since my skyline arrived and it was great to stretch her legs considering my track day was postponed till April. Many thanks to Paul (gtst vpsec) for being a great navigator which left me to concentrate on the important part of driving...I think we might have set a stage record between Noble and Toojay (however you spell it) Unfortunately towards the end an intercooler hose spilt which left me with no boost, but at least it happened at the end of the cruise. I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the committee for driving within their limits and overall being very responsilble while still enjoying their machinery. As stated earlier there were no major incidents and the only thing to report was a meeting between a fibreglass front bar and an immovable object which once again proves that they don't mix On the downside was a report of a certain R33 harrassing another at highway speeds by ducking and weaving behind them whilst tailgating. The owner of the 'harrassed' skyline did not feel comfortable pushing the car anymore and I remind people that these cruises are open to everyone no matter of their driving experience. This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated on future cruises and you will recieve a warning from the committee. If you do not heed the warning you will be asked to leave, period. The BBQ proved to be a hit, and I think the only thing missing was a football to keep the guys occupied after lunch. The raffle was also drawn and won which proved that moving to WA can change a victorians luck ....either that or the rest of you didn't buy enough tickets! Once again, thanks to everyone and I look forward to seeing some pics or vids as there were a couple of people snapping away during the day. Cheers Ant.
  14. Might want to post a price Matt as its in the rules Nice ride BTW
  15. Hey Paulr33...I recognize some of those pics from the '05 salon
  16. Hey Ash....theres an easier way to find out which ones farked without swapping coils, assuming that it misses on idie... pop the boonet and pull the plug off each coil until you pull one off that doesn't change the engine firing...hence thats the one thats farked.
  17. Sorry I got more snow than picture when I tried
  18. Assuming you've checked everything else like the plugs, the coil pack harness etc then go the splitfires.....I had the exact problem you describe (an on again/off again miss) changed to splitfires and solved the problem. I wouldn't say there bling either....not that there was a noticable power gain (I didn't run it back to back on a dyno) but they are/were heaps cheaper than replacement stockies from Nissan.
  19. Funky...quite simple mate....I'm the SAU whore In all seriousness when I got my 'line I wanted my CAMS licence and SAU Vic wasn't assoc yet - thats why I joined NSW. My membership to SAU Vic is self explanitory being my home state Recently I got moved to WA (kinda temp) and joined here so I could meet like minded people and go on their tracks days Within 2 weeks SAUWA realized my worth and made me a committee member Almost joined SAU SA as well when I was there on work but only ended up there for 6-8 months and there wasn't any point! So in short as per what Scots said....I get around
  20. Just don't forget to upgrade the brakes to cope with the extra grunt.
  21. Not too sure....maybe try a Z forum? Short of trying to adapt aircon from another datsun model that you could get from a wrecker, I'm outta ideas. I do know of a certain SAU Vic member who rebuilt his 260Z from the ground up....don't know if he's got aircon (I doubt it) but he might be able to point you in the right direction....forum name is RPMZ, do a search and send him a PM.
  22. Sounds dumb and you've prob checked it anyway but it made my 33 idle fluctuate as you've described... Right at the front of the fuel rail (cyl #1 end of motor) is the fuel pressure reg which has a little vac hose attached to it....this hose may have a leak or has come off....
  23. John, received the loom in the post yesterday (perth). Thanks heaps.
