Wtb Stock Exhaust And Air Box
Nic_A31 replied to 600hp's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
R32 is not the same AFM, and the airbox doesnt really fit anyway, nor is it cold air like the Ceffy box. R33 air box fits (the holes towards the strut tower lign up perfectly, but the bottom end is too short and doesnt reach low enough to screw in), if you screw in a spacer a the bottom you can use R33 and use the cold air snorkel as well, but if you're going to make shit, just secure the POD filter and pass with that ? -
Whats to say you dont get arrested for having a suspected stolen vehicle if you strip the numbers ?

R34 Gtt To Rb26dett And Awd Conversion
Nic_A31 replied to Nubblet's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
By the time you cover the cost of the halfcut, labor, and time you spend on the conversion / time you could wait and save money - the R34 GTR would be affordable anyway. Or settle for an AWD with 25, and do some work. Plenty of avenue's for power, ie building an RB30DETT. -
When converting to RB25 (engine), sometimes the crossmembers "needs slight adjusting" - so I guess factory auto/manual dictates where the shifter comes up ?

How To Wind Front Window Up / Down Without The Amp.

You bloody legend!! -
What ?? If you're driving an unrego'd car on the road under a permit they cant defect it in any case The Chassis/VIN is on the firewall, you can also find it on the compliance plate along with the model number. If you want to to check further, use NissanFAST.

^^ Yeah, fixing it is possible. When on, the needle rests at is own "zero", push the needle down, pushing the zero to match up with the 0 display. You'll probably need to gently lift the needle up and over that small pin on the display, to check that the needle's zero isnt below the display zero. Takes some time, doing it this way means you only need to take off the plastic front of the gauge cluster and fiddle. If you can get a hold of a digital tach and tap it into the line, you'll match it up more accurately.

Thats just a tacho out of whack mate, either get it recalibrated, or just pull the dash apart and replace the tacho (easy). Nothing to stress about. I had this problem a while ago, I fiddle with mine, when I turned the ignittion to "on" but didnt start the engine, the needle would lift itself to 2000rpm, took me a while to fix that about an hour, learnt my lesson

^^ Agreed with JonnoHR31 I was on my old Ps and got a letter in the mail detailing the new system, and a pair of new plates from the DPI. Between my own cars and work vehicles I was buying new sets of plates every couple of months anyway. The new color scheme was available almost straight away from service stations / auto stores. Dunno how you managed to go for over a year without knowing about it, especially with all the other cars on the road with them.

Wanted To Borrow - Stock C33 Turbo Exhaust
Nic_A31 replied to RB25DETC33's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Same as Cefiro, what have you got now? Newer exhausts look better than the rusted old ones for these cars, so consider getting a new exhaust made up with twin tips and silencing ? Might make life easier getting registration or engineering even. -
hahaha why not pull the 5 stud hubs out of your S14 knuckles and put them into the knuckles on your running A31? FREE

Take one of those whistle things that scare off the roo's (creates some kind of low volume high frequency noise that we can barely hear) You're meant to fix them to your bonnet, but just wedge them into between the bonnet/bumper, or in the grille or something. Even with cat reflexes and ultimate brakes, shit can still happen. Was in the car on the way to Adelaide, not a very dark night, could see well ahead of the car, nothing, but out of nowhere this Kangaroo just jumped out and BANG, rolled up and over the top of the car only just failing to actually come through the windshield. Nobody was hurt, the car copped $7000. Be sensible - that 90 mile straight would be f**king tempting for a top speed run, but anything could be laying on the road, and if you blow a tyre and roll 14 times, there probably aint going to be somebody close by to save you from bleeding / burning to death, if the impact doesnt kill you first.

Lodge a complaint, a big one, make his boss's asshole bleed, then word will get around to not be a retarded cowboy. Seriously guys, dont just take this shit and go over the pits, if you get stickered for legal mods of factory shit, give some verbal fireworks to WAPOL, preferably higher up, they did after all just cost you a day off work + money.

TAKUSHI, why dont you put 5 stud hubs into A31 Knuckles, that way you can use A31 / S13 coilovers ?

How Much Would U Pay For This
Nic_A31 replied to GTS25_R33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thats a decent price if it includes labor man, go for it. Since I work for a truck suspension supplier, all the quotes I've got are based on trade price, and don't include labor since I'd do it myself, but I was quoted $202.50 per pair for springs, so $400 odd bucks + labor + extra retail costs (prob another 40%) -
^^ That's what I've thought for a while now, you're not allowed to go beyond 2" bigger than factory (unless you can use bigger rims, smaller tyres, to maintain the same circumference and not affect the speedo reading). Good excuse to get those low-rider utes and bling show cars off the roads.

OK, so I just did some searching through the old posts and it seems over the years, there is some serious confusion about Cefiro's and Laurels. I propose we clear up the facts and myths in here and sticky it. Im using this for most information: http://www.alljapanesecars.com/viewmd.php3...n&md=Cefiro FACT: MOST A31's were manual, approximately distrubuted in a 50/50 of auto/manual from the factory, however special editions, Autech's, etc were all manual slightly favoring the number of manuals produced. People say 95% were auto, so where does everyone get the centre dash trim when they convert Ceffies to manual ? ...most were manual. Even the Laurels had the option of manual, so I dunno where this confusion comes from. RB25DE WAS offered, M Selection, 25 SE, and a few other lines offered the RB25DE with a 5 speed manual gearbox only. Later models only, so not many can be found in Aus. All-Wheel-Drive Cefiro's WERE produced in the factory, "ATTESTA" now these are actually rare as f**k, you'd have better luck collecting a full set of hen's teeth before picking up one of these. Same drivetrain and suspension as R32 GST-4 / GTR, the chassis is slightly different to other A31s, and these were produced towards the later years of the A31 cycle, further limiting how many were imported into Australia under the constantly changing import regulations. 4WS / HICAS was offered standard on most of the "upper" models of each release in each year of production. RB24S & Left Hand Drive models were produced for the Asian market. Yep, Carby 2.4 SOHC RB FTW. MYTH: Cefiro / Maxima ? A31 Cefiro (88 - 93) & J30 Maxina (89 - 94) were not related. In 1995, the Maxima claimed the A32 chassis, the Cefiro became FWD, and was a 2.0l or 2.5l alternative to the Maxima (3.0) and also provided a station wagon option to the Maxima (Ceffy wagon...they should have kept it RWD...), the A32 chassis is similar in design to the A31 (A32s have a big openeing in the firewall, a tunnel in the floorplan, the rear end has similarities, despite all being FWD). The Cefiro continued being a smaller / lesser a luxary version of the Maxima until the Maxima split becoming a standard 3.5 litre, USA continues using the A35 chassis, Middle East / Japan / Australia now uses J31 / J32, and Cefiro now rides on the Teana bandwagon. The Cefiro held its name in Japan, in place of the Maxima, but contrary to popular beleif, from A32 onwards, it was never again RWD / AWD or released in a turbo setup, and manual transmission eventually phased out. TAXI's : It sounds cool, but they were never used as Taxi's in Japan. This has been covered before, some Asian countries did use them as taxi's, but no English man on a business trip looking for a cheap hooker and a hotel would ever fit in the the back of a Cefiro, we all worked this out the day we bought a Ceffy. --- Other shit: Sold pretty well in 88 - 89, until the R32 Skyline was released, which offered slightly higher power output, for a considerably lower price, if anybody wanted luxury, the Laurel seemed obvious, so Cefiro sales dropped. It seems Nissan attempted to make the Cefiro more appealing, by upgrading options to standard features, revised tail-lights, headlights, grille, revised interior, etc, but had no luck, hence why they shifted the Maxima onto the A3x platform and re-aimed the Cefiro away from being a "sports car" when it had "failed" its introduction into the market. Sat around in Japan unused or even unsold for years and years before drifters found them. OK, now, I've killed 30 minutes, now you guys add your knowledge. What's true, what's a crock of horse shit. PS +1 FACT: They slide f**kin awesome-like!
-
There's about 1 Laurel per 10 Cefiro's, so rare is an understatement, whoever does have them treasures them dearly. Quickly ask some importers and Jap / HPV wreckers, but if your in a hurry, don't f**k around, either order a URAS or similar kit (cheap over there), or use Ceffy bumpers (not sure on the rears, but the front should be interchangeable since Laurel front end fits Cefiro, surely the other way 'round would work too...)

Go stock...or start liking man sex, to match your Blitz BOV. Atmospheric BOVs can cause stalling, but from what Ive seen, they only do it intermittently (sp?), not every single time ? Try and plumb it back, or get a hold of a stockie + piping, speedo is the next in line.

All you need is a floor jack, spring compressors and a socket set ay?

I should be able to help out man, just gotta see how I go for time. Have you got all the tools to do it there ? and just once its done you should take it to a local Pedders or something and get an alignment check if you have time on Tuesday morning.

Thats a bit of a contrast. Thats comparing 4 cylinders to soccer mums with tanks. Engine wieght doesnt mean vehicle weight, but I do agree on bigger vehicle driver's having bad acceleration habbits.

Let me know how those coilovers go man, Im still waiting for pay day before I order mine and might give those a try as well if theyre any good.

My 1994 Maxima (3.0 V6) does 100kmp/h @ 2000rpm, give or take 50rpm on air temprature. I can squeeze 700km from a 65l tank in that, so power can mean economy. But keeping in mind that the O/D gear in that Maxima is f**king tall, gear ratio's will affect RPMs more than anything. IMO Driving aids desensitize driver's to bad situations. Its not like ABS, ESP, TC, etc cant fail, they do. I got breif lessons on what to do in brake locks up, loss of traction, if the back end comes out, if the front end starts sliding away, etc. My first car (1988 Astra) had nothing but lazy power steering, and I survived just fine, yet I've seen someone with a brand new car from their parents with all the fruit manage to crash it (female). Its like the auto/manual arguement, I think driving a manual is much more interactive and makes you actually think about how cars work, how you're in control, etc.
