    Jdm Fest 2011

Does anyone know the details of the sound stuff there? Is it SPL only or is there SQ??
  2. Is the grey R32 GT-R stock looking? If so, it is my housemates

    Abes Tig Work

So a cheap no-name Arc welder with a decent duty cycle, then add a TIG attachment would be okay for small jobs? (Exhaust repair, custom plenum etc)

What sort of welder are you using mate? I'm buying a welder myself soon, need advice.
  5. Nope, couldn't have been me then I've got those 5 spokes on the rear at the moment haha
  6. Could have been me mate Pig spec at the moment
  7. My thoughts would be to aim for a more specialised shop, either a performance shop, differential shop which still does full servicing etc. I've had friends experience working at Rolfe Subaru as an apprentice, and as mentioned above they are treated like shop assistants rather than apprentices. Smaller private shops and specialised shops seem to be the go for interesting, slightly more fun work to do.
  8. Where was the quote from mate? Contact GSL Rally Sport, so far they have the best prices for KYB gear I have seen. http://www.gslrallysport.com/shop/ Shipping is very reasonable also, usually around $14 for a full set of dampers.
  9. Check the alternator charge wire, bolt on the back of the alternator.
  10. Texted last night offset is around +40
  11. Hey mate what is the offset? I could be very keen.
  12. I agree with above ^ Very nice The falken, i think the ze912 are only $135each (I bought some a few weeks ago) but are still a nice tyre, the R1R's are much nicer. Also consider Bridgestone Re02, in your budget and a very good tyre And Kumho KU36 also a nice tyre in your budget Some are available on eBay but don't forget fitting and disposal costs http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-X-225-50-16-KUMHO-KU36-SEMI-RACE-TYRE-/280748657366?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415dec8ad6#ht_2310wt_1110 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-X-New-225-50-16-TOYO-R1R-ULTIMATE-RACE-TYRES-FORD-FP-/290625207177?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43aa9cbb89#ht_2210wt_1110 And the tyre sponsor for this website Taleb Tyres stock the R1R and will do you a good deal no doubt.
  13. Front coilovers / brakes? Cheers.
  14. $80 is base charge I think but they know their stuff inside out, allows them to work quicker. No harm in getting a quote either way.
  15. Lee & Thomas auto electrical in Phillip, at the Battery World. Ask for Brendan.
  16. I don't understand the appeal of a mirror finish. All the best jobs I've seen on well built engines have been finished with 120grit on a flapper wheel. Mirror finished can be bad, you are prone to a sticky fuel / air / gunk residue on the inside walls of your intake chamber etc if there is a mirror finish. You need a light abrasion given by a flapper wheel with a grade that isn't too fine in my opinion (Newbie / Novice at best) though I have seen some expensive engine builds, along with backyard builds and most in-between.
  17. I'm surprised no one is jumping on that VE head! Put it on the silvia forum mate, they are well sought after.
  18. Quality brands in my opinion: Morel, Hertz, Crescendo, Alpine (older gear, not speakers), Pioneer PRS series, SB Acoustics, Fountek, Vifa, older Nakamichi, Focal, DLS, Audison.. These brand generally represent good quality products, though as said above, the stereo is only as good as the install, leave some of your budget for sound deadening and allow a lot of time to run the wiring properly, build proper enclosures and install everything correctly. I use a $70 (Carefully chosen) midwoofer in my car, in a 2-way active system and I have only entered 1 SQ competition since installing my front stage, but they faired well against other $1500 front stages in my division.
  19. +1 for wiring, saving that picture for future reference. Good work mate, I bet its awesome fun to drive.
  20. These are leaps and bounds ahead of 'Double Star' .. These are the same compound as Federal 595ss, a very reputable, affordable performance tyre.
  21. Thanks for that mate. Yep I am using the stock manifold now, for all who were reading, I picked up a stock VLT manifold for $142 delivered (won on eBay this morning). Once I get it all up and running I will look for what next, but I still need front coilovers which is higher on the list than big power.
  22. I'm not looking for huge huge power, I was almost happy with my N/A tuning. I think it will last a fair while with 7 - 9psi boost, the motor is in good condition. I have a friend still running more boost on his stock RB30, and I know many many more people who do the same. I don't think I'll see a piston going through the head on 7psi through rb25 turbo.
