Not whinging, you're just thinking along the same lines as many millions of f1 fans around the world.
-
If redbull still have the blown diffuser at silverstone they'd be lapping the rest of the grid! Hopefully getting rid of the thing loosen's the rbr backend so vettel has to drive it a bit more rather than being able to rely on so much downforce. He has a lot of luck though that boy, maybe he stole it from webber?

Bahahahaha
-
So crashes and protocol (as in race rules) ruined both the race end and qualifying, and the broadcast in Australia at least did all it could to sap any excitement from the telecast. Robbed! A bad weekend for f1 fans worldwide... probably a worse weekend for perez and petrov though.

Monaco tradition. I had always liked hamilton, he'd usually been pretty humble, wtf happened to that?!
-
Sorry to hear that mate, what a bad way to start the day! It's absolutely fkd. Hope the police catch up with them so they can play find-the-salami in prison

^This guy, know's what he's talking about. A bunch of good ideas, and damn impressive changing the clutch first time, by yourself in the backyard. Bet you learnt some new swear words haha (It's probably what I'll do next clutch too lol). Birds on here is a transmission specialist/rebuilder so I'd politely shoot him a PM and ask about 1st gear lockout.
-
I think I remember reading one guy in the clutches thread replaced his clutch and found it was quite worn down, but wasn't slipping at all. Unfortunately the only way to find out is to change the clutch...

JJR Coil Packs Vs Oem Vs Splitfire Vs Other
Galois replied to 4drftn's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
good to hear, have you put them in? -
I've seen a lot of different numbers quoted (on here, 2.5L-4.0L haha), so if you're going to go this method make sure the volume you use is from the manual for your specific model. The other thing you can do (which I'd completely forgotten about before) Is pull the temp sensor out and use that hole as it's on the same level as the filler hole. Either way, you want a plan for if the filler bolt is stuck. Have you got a stock clutch? Are you sure? HD clutches might not slip when they're running out. Lol if you pour through the gearstick just be careful of spillage in the cabin!! With a handpump though it's fairly easy to use the filler plug.

Good, I didn't think I was the only one who got to lap 30 and thought "wtf is going on in this race". I don't mind the complexness of it, I just wish there was an easier way of understanding it. Eg when Brundle and DC were saying alonso's gone "soft, soft, hard, hard" I was thinking he'd only had 3 stops but had missed anyone noticing, which was entirely possible lol

Whoops stuck in auto mode lol, slipping! Flaring is what an auto does when it goes to change gears and takes too long to engage the next gear, causing the car to rev because your foot is still on the throttle. I think I used castrol gtx-m, but can't quite remember. There's a box oils thread in the transmission system. Penrite syn is apparently the best, though it's been a long while since I was looking at that. Nulon additive and whatever oil you choose will be available at hopefully one of your local autobarn/supercheap/autopro/repco-type stores. It's also quite easy to do yourself, JUST MAKE SURE you undo the filler plug first because if you undo the dump plug and find you can't undo the filler you're stuffed (this would have happened to me if I hadn't tried to undo the filler first!).
-
^ That's what I'd do. 1. Check pivot bolt 2. Change gearbox oil (including the nulon additive, it's good stuff). 3. Check master and slave cylinders 4. Check/change clutch fluid For me it was totally caused by the old clutch being gone. Do you ever have any flaring?

+1 would be great to see!

Congrats mate, take it easy though, don't become another statistic. Might be worth doing defensive and advanced driving courses, that's what I'll be doing when I get another decent car even though I've had a gtt for 18 months before and used to race karts (not saying I'm the next Lewis Hamilton, just that oversteer isn't something new haha). I just wouldn't want to crash and think "I wonder if that defensive/advanced driver course would have made any difference, oh well now off to the hospital to learn how to drive a wheelchair instead".
-
Ooh what's the new car?
-
There's enough hektik dumbasses out there that you may not even need that!
-
That would save a LOT of dollars! Everything pull-type related is a fortune (comparatively).
-
Pull or push? I was told by a lot of places (including Nissan and Jim Berry) that there's no OEM replacement for the pull type, those duties were passed to exedy. A lot of differences between the two clutches in terms of support and replacement.

fixed if DRS had "worked" there would have been no battle. Just an easy pass. Fair enough, that was kinda how I meant it. The thing that annoys me is when a much faster driver gets caught up behind a slower driver, and all the leader of the pair has to do is easily cruise round to defend the position, when it has very little to do with driver skill and it's all down to dirty air in fast corners and track layout. It happened last year too, despite all the overtakes, there were tracks that really cut down passing opportunities. Cutting downforce, cutting traction or increasing power are the natural racing cures, but drs and fake rain are bernies answers and that's what counts. Though I do prefer the faker solutions to boring tracks where it is rather processional, but that's just me. I reckon double drs zones will make the drs a little less artificial, it will allow position defending a bit more like real racing. I think hrd said earlier that good racing doesn't need a pass, the last 12 laps of this race were great, as were the first few with alonso leading. One of my first times I got really excited in an f1 race was watching imola in 2005, where alonso defended against a raging schumacher for 12 laps to take the win!! From about 5 minutes onwards (it doesn't want to embed) Didn't brundle say none of the teams gear for drs, that's why they all bounce off the limiters on Saturday? Or has that changed? I'd definitely be keen to have a read, that straight line speed must be one of the faster combinations of any f1 cars, weren't the v10's 0-100km/h in 2.5s? yeah it gets a bit confusing when the stops are on. generally when a bloke stops early he drops down the pack but will gain back those positions again when the guys in front of him stop. so often the commentators will call him as being in a 'net 3rd position' or whatever even though on track he's really 6th or something. it's a bit more confusing lately as people trying anything from 1 stop strategy to the recent 4 stop strategies. so when you have guys who are close but one is stopping 3 times and one is stopping 4 times it gets a bit messed up in the middle of the race until all the stops are gone and you see where they end up. Even the commentators often have no idea where all the random pit sequences will turn out. Those graphics freeze up almost every time though, when they're braking at the end of the straights one of the cars' speedos usually stops.

Price difference between exedy normal (the only replacement) and HD was <100 when I did mine

Terrible race for alonso, button and webber. Was glad to see that vettel couldn't just kers past him in ther first dozen (?) laps or so. There's so much happening in these gp's its really hard to follow. They got the drs wrong and it was still a great race, the battle between hamilton and vettel in the closing laps had me at the edge of my seat! Was pretty surprised vettel didn't crash into anyone. Well done SV, second win not from pole

JJR Coil Packs Vs Oem Vs Splitfire Vs Other

^ Just expanding on one point birds alluded to, multimeter testing would require a constant problem, but when I used to have trouble with the stock coilpacks they worked inconsistently, sometimes the car would run as normal, others it'd be missing all over the place. -

If you sold it for near the asking price you'd be cheering! Did you have it detailed or anything beforehand? Was it your daily? Given the cars in your garage (well from reading the supercar thread) I guess you're not short on adrenaline!!

Yeah that too, read a while ago in the NA section that it makes a big difference to the feel and fun of na's
