  1. Sigh double post
  2. Yeah I was looking into this a couple years ago, apparently network ten/one has the broadcast rights for the whole country, not jut over free tv. Which was in the shite days before one came about and the races were played whenever ten cbf putting them on, which was usually 20 minutes after they said it'd be on.
  3. Whoops, double post. But go the sau post saver!!
  4. Don't use magnatec Though zddp is a unparalleled oil additive it's important to remember there's a lot more to oil than just zddp. Zddp is one of literally dozens of additives to oils to reduce friction, and the reduction of zddp in oils is nothing new, the zddp level has been reducing for decades. One thing you may not know is that often concentration doesn't matter as much as people think. Doubling the concentration of an additive almost never doubles it's effect. Further, once a certain concentration of zddp is reached it won't benefit the lubrication mechanism by adding more. Also, zddp is known to damage catalytic converters over time, so unnecessarily high concentrations won't be doing any favours.
  5. And keep us posted too with what happens, best of luck
  6. Motul 8100 xmax is 10w40, released earlier this year or late last year
  7. Are these more specialised mechanics/builders, or your average falcodore servicing guy? I've had a few mechanics who may be competent at the regular cars but I'd never take something different there.
  8. Haha that is amazing!! Happy birthday, just celebrated mine by moving lol
  9. It has happened before, but it's pretty rare. It happened a few years ago, like 05 or 06... or maybe 07?
  10. Half the na section is on this topic, and of the hundreds of people on here who have done the na+t conversion I have only read of very few who haven't regretted it after a few years. IF you're going to do all the work yourself it won't be too dramatically expensive, but it's still wasted money and effort compared to buying a factory turbo skyline. And it's no small job, the easiest option is to put an rb25det in the car and that involves changing the ecu (and wiring loom i believe?). Also STRONGLY recommend a defensive drivers course if you're going to be driving a rwd with no traction control. There's really no downside to learning more techniques about safe driving, and you may have seen that there's plenty of accident damage on sau. It might seem like a waste of time to some people, but sometimes a split second is all you have in an emergency and if you don't react properly you could be wishing you'd taken that driving course while getting your car towed away... Or maybe just hoping you'll be able to walk again one day.
  11. Engine will most likely be the same as for everyone else. Likewise for gearbox, except not so much info on that. Go with the recommended penrite syn or castrol if you want cheaper and throw in a bottle of nulon g70 additive (or is it g90, i can't remember, one is the replacement for the other). No idea on the diff. There is a transmission and diff oils thread in the drivetrain section but it's not quite as qualified as this oils thread haha
  12. Yep 24 hour access, will be using it soon when we hire a truck for 24 hours to move from 3 places, including storage, into one. Kennards' are all over the place though, hopefully you'll find some space somewhere. Hope you enjoy the "special car"
  13. Maybe somewhere like kenards if they store cars? We've been using a kenards locker lately between moves and the security seems pretty damn good...
  14. That could be very interesting, but would that technology ever filter down to road cars? I mean road going turbos just don't need to survive the bashing f1 engines would give, it might just end up being specialised, independent technology
  15. Haha beat me again, I have to be quicker
  16. Boring race at a boring track. Why do i watch valencia every year? So all the effort into drs, tyres, kers still couldn't liven up a boring track. Downforce ruins racing. I look forward to the turbo engines, but that might be because a significant change like that might mix things up a bit. Just because they go turbo now doesn't mean they won't go back to NA one day. I think I only watched 2-3 seasons of the v10's, but once hamilton said eau rouge was "easy flat" in the v8 these engines were ruined for me. They just took away the excitement, the aero is too much for the power.
  17. Suit, neck protector and transponder all sold. Tyres and freem rib protector left!
  18. Things like zinc additives do help add kind of a lubrication effect because of the "softness" of the way the zinc attaches to the engine parts, but this effect is dwarfed by the actual lubrication effect of the oil. On the dark oil, birds said pretty much everything I thought of lol, he has a habit of that , but he's very right that it takes a tiny amount to stain the oil black, and that the oil absorbs the carbon into it's structure, the carbon can't really escape this to build up anywhere. The oil can take an awful lot of carbon before reaching saturation. It's not like once the oil is resting after a change the carbon all falls to the bottom of the container, it stays in the suspension because of the particular physical chemistry effects the designed additives have.
  19. They'll almost certainly be v6's right? Which is a pity, I've always thought straight 6's, in general, sound better.
  20. Pics of remaining items
  21. Helmet gone, and I'm meeting to hopefully move the suit, neck protector and transponder this weekend. Still have the awesome freem rib protector, selling for $150, and the never opened bridgestone tyres for the same price.
  22. Lol, much more reasonable. I think they'll go for it
  23. Hey mate, good to see things are moving forward! That pic is intense, thank god you had a decent car. It's just... scary, we always forget how much energy is involved in moving 1500kg at speed. I was just wondering, do you have any memory of what happened? Don't answer if it's a sore memory though. Was just thinking everyone subscribed to this thread would want to hear your tale if you wanted to tell it. Glad you're on the mend mate, best wishes.
  24. Wow that's so seedy. Livo is such a lovely place (currently living nearby)
