  1. Could it just be differences between how the different cars perform over the different sectors of the track?
  2. Was so dirty when vettel topped it. Hopefully hamilton will do a "banzai" on vettel in turn 1, vettel would not be sleeping soundly tonight with hamilton next to him. Button and Alonso on the grippy side, turn 1 could be very interesting!
  3. ...maybe i shouldn't have been watching the ad-less stream online
  4. Also, what's your boost at? And what are your plugs gapped at?
  5. Could also be the coilpack loom, or an off chance that it's a faulty coilpack or plug. Have heard of both. Actually heard a similar story to this a while ago and it turned out to be a fautty new plug! Hope it's something simple mate.
  6. Legend, thanks!
  7. Hmm maybe, mine definitely looked to have some sort of loctite on it :S
  8. Damn, won't be able to watch quali on tv. Is there a stream online? (Preferably with bbc commentary but that's probably a tall order!)
  9. Don't get me wrong there, I sure will too. Just hoping to take it easy, stay on the black stuff and not get in anyone's way!
  10. This seems a common problem with skylines, why are so many of the plugs "welded" on to the point a breaker bar just rounds them?
  11. I almost did that too trying to get it off, it never did budge. Luckily there was a temp sensor on the r34 gtt at the same level as the filler plug, so my mechanic (who knew fk all about skylines) used that. There is a diy on temoving the gearstick, cant remember where i found it though. When looking through the diy's, remember a shortshifter installation will have the same initial steps to take the gearstick off.
  12. Maybe worth doing an advanced drivers course to get some confidence up? Better to be under-confident than over-confident though. I haven't been to a track day, but I bet the members above have seen A LOT of over-confident young blokes embarrass themselves by trying to drive like lewis hamilton. Once I get an interesting car again I'll be right into an advanced drivers course and track days. I used to do some karting, never raced only did practise days. Absolutely loved it! Cheapest competitive motorsport out there. If you want to just get some quicker driving your belt, maybe try some karting? Some tracks/places lease out 9hp karts, which are the slowest class of the australian karting association. Would feel pretty quick getting out of a road car and into one though. Might be an easy way to build up some basic skill as slowly as you want without risking your car. Obviously a kart handles quite differently to a road car, but things like recognising some oversteer and understeer might ease your mind a little.
  13. There's a pretty good kart track in newcastle, and hire kart tracks in maitland and broadmedow. Not sure of rally's, I do hear of them every now and then in king edward park and the carpark of the knights stadium
  14. Surprised they're letting Liuzzi participate in another race, usually teams are pretty strict with their drivers
  15. Bahahahaha The ones I hate most are out front of kings school. You got traffic, flickering shade and sunlight, more traffic, kids, turns, shit on road, changing lanes cos of some slow truck etc and, as clarkson puts it, you have to do all that while just staring at your speedo. I guess if it's helping though..... unless kings parents just didn't want them removed
  16. Cheers for clearing that up Learned something new today - done
  17. Ahh, okay. Was just wondering, as I've always sorted out ctp before getting rego renewed, but i've never needed to bring ctp info down to the rta...
  18. I wouldn't trust that the cameras are off till they're actually ripped out (if they even are). "I thought the cameras were turned off" isn't the greatest of excuses (not that any of us are looking to go hooning through speed camera zones)
  19. So much easier to get it rego'd. WIll he need ctp as well? I'm guessing yes...
  20. I did the same as you kujotk, on the day of the test i was using all the dozens of pieces of paper I'd written trips down on to fill in the book, wrote up 57 of the hours, was about 25% of the hours I'd driven. And I don't remember it being that much effort to get that many hours tallied up. Then again my folks regularly traveled on weekends. It seems so easy for people to get stuck in bad habits, esp once they've passed the test to get their red p's. There's no other test that just forces young learning drivers to think "maybe the L's book said that for a reason". Such as braking hard early. Most accidents are caused by people not braking hard enough, early enough.
  21. Hell yeah I agree, either the option's shouldn't last as long forcing another pit stop or the prime's should be quicker and be extremely consistent over the race distance (be a good way for Pirelli to show what they can do too). Well, at least that I think was the intended outcome. As it is now, usually there's just a phase of the race where each driver takes a time penalty.
  22. Yep, turbo v6's. Now coming out in 2014 if I remember correctly?
