Not a bad idea but when was the last time you saw DOT rated Slicks? I am obviously referring to tyres such as the MT ET Streets which are made of the same nylon compund as the ET Drag slicks but have a tread pattern on them and meet other requirements making them DOT approved.
I kidded myself for ages that Radials were the go and came within an inch of buying some BF Drag Radials. But when we're competing against other cars on DOT rated tyres that aren't radials, why should we kid ourselves that we're somehow on a higher plain of being because we have to do it harder?!?!? We're disadvantaging ourselves in terms of comparing our cars to others in our class.
In relation to the participation comment, this forum is also about education. We need to show people how different tyres, tyre sizes, mods etc affect 1/4 mile times and encourage all the people posting on the drag list to include as many details as possible.
Sorry if this is my epiphany alone to realise but I think it is much more realistic.
