Realiability of a R32 GTR??
DAN00H replied to CAT_SPEW's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hey, my nice clean 89 track battler is still going strong!!! (yes, I believe it saw the track at times!) I bought early - before the rush on the 89's and managed to get a good example for good $$$. Prestige motorsport. -
R32 GTR gearbox oil
DAN00H replied to williamsf1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Redline in engine, geabox and diffs for me (cha ching, $$$), but I rate it - only stuff I'll use. -
Hey Grant, good to hear that you are making the most of a good situation. Better yet, save for the deposit on your first house! Bought my first when I was 21 - only wish I had done it sooner and haden't ploughed so much cash into cars! I'd sell my GTR tomorrow if I could get another buy like that house!

:headspin: I'm amazed at the amount of PPl who can afford the $$$ to get something pretty flash as a first car!?!? 1. is it that either someone else fronted up with the money for you, or 2.you used other peoples cars for most of your early driving life, or 3. you lived at home riding the train / tram / getting a lift, not spending the money that you earnt??? :headspin:

buy both, drive both, decide which one you prefer - then give the other one to me makes it easy for you! It is a tough choice, Good NSX is very desirable.... add a supercharger.... I think I'd prefer an R34 though just for the rawness of it...

1st car was a mark one escort 2 door. had a 1600cc, cammed, big webber twin throat, extractors and massive 14 x 8in wide rubber (anyone who know the original tyre size will appreciate this!!). Wasn't too bad in the poke department, but was glued to the road in the twisty stuff. had so much fun in that car. (would still have one now!)

if anyone is interested, I'll see if I can get the Magnaflow cats. Ring an exhaust shop and you'll see they are good units and not cheap. Perhaps PM me, as I might forget to come back to this thread!

I'll ask my mate if he can still get them. it is made by one of the champ car people / teams in the USA, came in a neat box as well!

Apexi turbo's !! Are they any good?
DAN00H replied to Gtrwar33r's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Apexi's are meant to be good, Sean (uk forum) in the states run them, but said the GT2530's were slightly better. They look good though ( I considered them). -
Hi Birnie Doesn't look like it, but very hgard to tell from the outside!! take it off and whild looking through it, hold it up to the light, if you can see the light throgh the mesh, then it may be a high flow. I put a magnaflow in mine and they usually retail for ~ $400, I got it through a mate in the trade for $150. I'd be careful of the $160 'high flow' cats - if the are the generic type, forget it! save the money and get one that has actual flow figures provided for it. On the issue of liberating a few ponies, when I imported my car it had a full 3.5 inch system, no cat or mufflers, this is the only way to improve exhaust flow - but not legal noticed a drop in performance when I fitted the legal system - also slower to come onto boost.

if the R34 turbos are stock (non N1), then don't bother! considering the time it takes to change the turbos + the cost of the R34's, you are better stickign with your current set up. My R32 GTR has the stock turbos, ecu, pump and injectors - 3in exh and front pipes and made ~230rwkw on 10psi. See if you can get a set of secong hand GT2530's or the new GT-SS are pretty cheap. (although the people who haev bought and are runnig GT-SS are very quiet, I haveen't seen much about them in ages....)

APEXi AVCR Group buy (Version 2) - from $510 delivered.
DAN00H replied to performance-wise's topic in Group Buys
PM sent, I'll take one. -
Agreed! I stood in there for a while, but decided to leave it as it was packed and I had no chance of seeing anything! That TRX is very tough, on the cruise around the track it was very smooth, hard to pick it had so much oomph!

The plate I saw it with was something like TUFGTR - but yeah, it looked like FLYBYE to me.

I've got the mag here, but haven't read it yet.

Does anyone know what the GTR that top qualified on horsepower heros ended up with? I noticed that he had ~ 600 on Saturday! The ex-Autostyle single turbo Zed (GTR engine) had ~ 500 (BTW Daniel, I didn't like the look of all the crap that your filterless turbo was sucking in :uhh: , hope it doesn't cause long term health problems...). How did SHYR32 go? I looked for it, but never found it

What are your favourite wheels?
DAN00H replied to NXTIME's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Du-Luck double six in bronze that's what I would like (if I had the extra cash). otherwise I like the BBS mesh ones you showed above. -
I would always stick to the big jap brands - Zoom or HPI did a review of a range of A/M turbos a while ago, and it was proven that the JAP brands kick asre over the 'copy' series that you can get. Makes sense to get something that has been specifically developed for your application, you can get some real bargains second hand. Try http://www.tuneagent.com/index.aspx and http://www.upimports.com.au/UPI_Parts/ as for starters.

1hp = 0.7457 kw. if you have 500hp, multiply this by 0.7457 and you get 372.85kw. if you want to convert to hp, divide the kw amount by 0.7457.

I'd have to say that the my car was in better condition than thought it would be in. Had a few additional parts that came as a bonus as well! As for value of moddified cars, Geoff had a fantastic car for sale just before I bought mine - http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/au/st...asp?StockID=780 http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/au/st...sp?StockID=1086 these are only a couple of examples of what could be bought at the time (before everyone started buying the 89's).
