  1. went round a few exhaust shops today, was told theres not enough room for a muffler anywhere but the rear, and the ones they showed me looked cheap and nasty like they imported them from china, brands like redback, gennie where mentioned and prices of $350 spoken about so i just got the fujitsubo welded back on for now, going to see what it can do on the dyno, maybe have the catback removed to see the difference before doing anything more, so ill be a ginnea pig for this experiment. having thoughts about cutting it out too, wonder if a 3inch pipe could be welded back in to mimick the silencer effect?
  2. well im doing all this on a tight arse budget and getting impatient, some parts like the HD clutch, walbro fuel pump, and now rear muffler with silencer may fail before it reaches 300kw So i guess for now ill have to see what happens on the dyno, im thinking even 280 would be great, 50/50 blend is another cheaper option.
  3. It has external gate, AVCR , 256cams, cam gear, maybe a 50/50 ethanol blend id be happy with near 200kw at 4000rpm with 18-20psi
  4. What is a hooker muffler like , is it a big oval design? Would it be loud enough for cops to pull you over?
  5. No, i had a highflow but im hoping its on full boost by 3500rpm, maybe wishful thinking...we'll see
  6. ok then well thats a good thing that they are making that much difference then, i need to drive it to the tuner 40mins, should i richen it up a fair bit to be safe? i got from 1.000 upto to 1.300 and it sounded heaps better, would this richen up the whole fuel map on a power fc ? Been behaving like a dam drag car, lol, the times ive driven it people think im about to do a 100meter burn out lol,
  7. no i have stock blow off valve recirculating, ive checked and replaced clamps and hoses, i think it really happened after the tomei cams were put in, Its all a bit of a mess at moment until it gets tuned, but adjusting this injecter correction makes it idle alot stronger, one the original tune setting the motor just shakes like its got massive cams , like a drag car, If you think about it, the size of the air flow is what, 3inch? and the intake is 4inch and big 4inch comp with gt30, its like twice as big as stock, thats got to do somting to the air flow maybe a 3inch pipe is close enough, but 4inch must mess it up , like speed or mass of air after the air flow would be different?

I could be wrong, but having a bigger intake pipe than normal , i think it fools the air flow, maybe the air is travelling at a different speed than the smaller stock pipe, i have tried adjusting my power fc , the injection correction and that made it idle alot better so increased correction makes it richer ( from 1.0 to 1.3) which must mean a bigger intake is making the tune leaner. correct me if im wrong??
  9. i should have a dyno graph for a GTX3076 next week, im hoping it will prove to be just as good and a bit more than the GT3076,

  11. so tell me , how did it sound then? what brand of muffler, redback has been mentioned by an exhaust shop, from what i can see under there the dump and cat take up alot of room, i dont wanna chop it all up and make a mess and have to waste money if its not neccessary. was that an oval muffler? what power did yours make too? if im going down this track of having a bit of a noisy exhaust then id atleast like to hear the meaty angry RB note, quality still not just loud noise.

I think ill just see what the tuner recommends, hard to see where a muffler could be welded in at the front, not much room with a lowered car, but at the back i can see a huge muffler could be put in there, so hopefully theres some decent 3.5inch ID mufflers that flow well and also cut down the drone and noise. How do people bring out the meaty RB note? is it to do with the resonator or the muffler or even the tune???

I have just gone thru this myself, i got a 45degree bend of 4inch pipe which i cut to the right length then got a 4inch to 3inch reducer and connected the airflow and pod, cost me about $60 for the pipe i then got the fabrication shop to weld in a short pipe and then just connect as stock , grind off the blow by pipe and decide whats doing with that after or get another short bit welded in too . problem now is i think the fuel mixtures are way off as in very lean, cause the idle and running is very rough and needs tuning,

  15. its off the car at the moment, and the 4inch nur spec is on, just the db issue, guess ill have to try a middle muffler, or two...
  16. how much power is significant? The 4inch nur spec just sounds loud and drony, would i use a resonator or a muffler to bring out the RB sound? Just tossing up wether its worth losing some power to maintain a nice sound.

Just want to know has anyone reached 300kw with a silencer in the muffler, I'll be getting my car tuned next week , would like to see 280-300kw, Has a GTX3076 0.82 , external 44mm tial, tomei 256cams, 3 1/2inch exhaust but the muffler has the 2 1/2inch silencer. I've tried a 4inch Nur spec muffler on the rear but its crazy loud, and i could try another muffler in the front and that might help but i like the sound of the fujitsubo muffler as well cause its quiet at slow speeds. So interested in opinions, will this muffler really hold the setup back enough to not use it ? If i cut the restrictor out how much louder will it be?
  18. what about a small amount of grease? worked on mine, but check the tension again on belts from memory its somting like 8-10mm under 10kg of pressure half way between the pulleys

Driving a skyline everyday is too expensive, especially when your squirting, and hyundai excels are just gay lol Pick yourself up a nice fairmont with LPG for a few grand and still have a bit of fun and pay $40 for up to 800km's plus when it comes to the weekend you'll enjoy the squirts that much more. Sadly i dont have an LPG car but an old falcon or similar is whats needed for daily duties, 10L/100kms on fuel and dont worry bout getting it scratched/stolen or a bird shitting on the paint while its baking in the sun all day.
  20. does your muffler have a restrictor inside? is it a hotdog resonator? cause i just fitted a nur spec muffler and its terribly noisy and dronning from idle til about 2500rpm.
  21. i was told by MTQ that the RB25 exhaust housing was about 0.5A/R , dont quote me but yeah its small.

  23. ah ok, that explains it then, cause when its cold its especially lumpy, after a long drive its calmed down a bit, but still sounding like very lumpy cam , which i have no complaints with, cheers for the reply been scratching head about this for weeks.
  24. its permanently disconnected at moment cause the dump pipe that i got made has no hole for it, and the car idles like a subaru and hesitates just over idle and thru the revs a bit too, just wondering if its only important for crusing?
  25. How important is the 02 sensor? could it cause misfire?
