To Tiimmmaaayyyy and all, Before this turns into a bitch fight i think enough is ENOUGH.lets just leave it at that and give new forum readers good advice not slagging anyone, give them the opportunity to make up their own mind and not corrupt them with predjuces or i'll informed advice. We are all car enthuists no matter what every one drives, lets enjoy each other, each others opinion, and more importantly each others cars. There is simply too much shit going on in the world today without getting petty, and besides it could get to the stage where we need a united front to tackel big brother in the near future---- so UNITED we stand!!! TO ALL S.A. based forum members, I hope you all had a great xmass and even better new year, and i would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy, healthy, prosperous new year where we can enjoy each others company(more dinners anyone?) and be able to enjoy our cars without the ever present threat of having safe "legal" fun destroyed by those that DONT know and dont know any better!!! Regards, SKYLINE(Kym)...

Timmmmaaaaayyyyy, You and many others are all guilty of slagging us off,we have members as young as 16 on their 'p's,and out of interest is that most people(if not all) who slag us off have never tried to join or shown any interest in coming along to any of the events we run and give the club a try before joining up,so to you all who continually put us down either put up or shut up!!(so what if there are some members over 21,30,40, hell even 50 we were young once and still very much young at heart and get shit loads of satisfaction in using our cars!!!!!) Regards, SKYLINE (Kym)...

Db R31(Jason), Just to prove your right Mel i will give SVD a plug. It's a club that was formed many years ago here in adelaide(and chapters in most states) that cater for the aussie r31,exa's,pulsars,and the ltd edition svd skylines. It now not only has these in the club but in diminishing numbers unfortunately but caters for all grey imports(Nissan). We do all the normal car stuff, track days at mallala, drags air,car shows, cruises,go kart days, video nites, barbies etc, etc. We just try to have fun with like minded people, keep out of trouble where we can,and get on with it. Unfortunitly we get slagged off a lot by other clubs/people note above, but little do these people realise there is many members of SVD here on these forums(and Mel its not a club yet-no one has gotten off their arses to organise it yet) Just to prove i'm not single minded their is also a chapter of the national r31 club here in adelaide and there is also SMASA who cater for all types of cars and events, so Jason there is plenty to choose from.Contact the SVD by attending a club meeting 1st tues of the mnth upstairs Directors Hotel, Gouger St at 7.30pm all are welcome! To All, I might mention that the 911 turbo porche comes out with factory fitted wheel spacers when not using the huge offset wheels, but wanting to have a wide track and filling out the guards. Also out of interest K&A motorsports here in adelaide have been fitting up spacers to gtr's and heavily modded gt's that are running gtr guards or heavily flaired guards, they not only produce spacers of the correct size(and material) but also manufacture their own longer studs and fit them b4 fitting the spacers.Their spacers generally have studs in turn fitted in them (these are large spacers-they bolt on using the oe studs then stud out of the spacer to attach the wheel)They use the longer studs in the oe position when the spacer is too thin to be able to re stud to attach the wheels. Whilst i dont know the legality of this in the various states,i do know that K&A are an aust reconised race car manufacturer that doesn't take short cuts when it comes to safety..... Erica, The new year would probably be a better proposition, and if the date set isnt suitable for a cruise maybe we could meet up for dinner again at the british in nth adel.??? Regards, SKYLINE (Kym)....

To ALL, I didnt do it at the time of our stereo install, however i came up with the idea after and one of the lads in our club did it to his '33 prior to fitting up his install.Got you wondering what i'm talking about? The idea is so simple and not too much harder to achieve-------cut out the spare wheel well in your boot turn it upside down and reweld it back in place.Took a couple of lazy hours to complete on a sunday. You still have ample space for a serious install and can fit a space saver under the car for your long cruises and interstate trips. SA bulk buy for carbon fibre / fibre glass bonnets.
skyline replied to P1E's topic in South Australia
To Pie (and others) You can buy locally made fibre glass bonnets from silins special vehicles at lonsdale, i paid to have a bonnet made approx 3yrs ago.In the process we had to produce a f/glass replica of std inner and outer, take copies of these and modify them to what i wanted then in turn make a copy of this.this then formed the mould for my modified bonnet. It has billet mc'd steel inserts where it mounts to the hinge and billet mc'd alloy inserts in the catch area. This is very important as the so called"CHEAP" ones from o/seas usually have no latch assembly and i think the screws for the hinges just go into wood or f/glass.I dont know why for the life of me why every one insists on not supporting aussie made nor our technology. So far i spent 6k on producing four moulds for the bonnets, two front spoiler(bar) moulds and a low tough drift wing mould that comes equiped with a nice led brake light. So you can see all this nice gear IS available in your own backyard, its of exceptional quality and it fits first time which is a lot better than you can say for the imported rubbish thats been floating around.Wally is very helpfull supplies a fitting /repair service and can arrange painting as well. This stuff has gone a long way to us winning our 3 consecutive aust concourse titles and many other trophies as well.If you need further recomendation speak 4dr sleeper(re these forums) Good luck to all... I know its not much to do with this thread, however its important to note that height ajustable suspension DOES NOT break any laws within Aust,ie it doesnt break any state laws nor does it go against the adr's.There are in fact many cars that come new into this country that have coilover (read- ADJ suspension on them std from the factory and they get complied and registered!) However the adr's state that the wlding of suspension components is not allowed- so what does this tell you?----Regency is breaking the law by not telling the truth, and is infact telling you to break some of the adr's by welding them(the collars) As long as the car has 100mm clearance under the car and you still have the correct amount of suspension travel(i think it's two thirds of the original travel-however dont quote me on this-check) you should be deemed leagal in s.a. and obviously pass in any other state as we are sooooooo far behind the other states in regard to legal modifictions allowed on our cars thanks to regency pk's attitude of they know better than the aust govt and the adr's and commen BLOODY SENSE! Anyway enough from me,good luck getting you car coplied and re-registered in s.a. Regards, SKYLINE(Kym)......

To Matt (and others) I'm sorry Sue and i will be unable to attend the B.B.C. to celebebrate your birthday next sat. nite as i'm already booked to do the derny racing at the velodrome for the welcome home "athens" nite.Dont worry too much 'bout the thirties i cant even remember them and even the forties are getting haysy-but that what comes with getting wiser(i didn't mention older! Have a great birthday, celebrate and all be safe!!!! Regards, SKYLINE (Kym).....

Adam, I actually hav'nt looked at the reg's for sa. however i do know that a 100mm block is passed under your car at a regency pk inspection and cannot foul anthing under your car-eg:exhaust, handbrake cables, electrical cables or suspension components etc.. Regards, SKYLINE(Kym).....

To all, Posting up cruises and showing your strength by numbers will achieve **ck all.To start with everything thats posted on all club forums would and is read by the police, the police have already infiltrated se :how: :how: veral car clubs,so all your yar yar yar will get you now where fast!If you want to do something positive send emails to your local mp,minister for transport, minister for police, atterney general, and lastly get on the radio to leon byner, and tv with today tonite. This will prove more valuable than driving around thinking your going to save the word because you can drive in a big group!Better still would be to arrange a drive into town and park and lock your cars in front of parliament house completely blocking nth tce and refuse to move untill you get some answers from mike rann or minister for transport---but dont get me wrong you would need to be highly organised very secretive and have very big balls because the police would throw all sorts of shit at you to get you to move your cars. However it would make your point,it should get some tv coverage and you would also need a good speaker and negotiater to speak to the government. Thats my two bobs worth... Regards, SKYLINE(Kym)......

From what i've been told(no i was'nt there) James got defected on the way to Mallala, and the police at the drift day saw the defect and re-dected the car again, only to have James pulled them off and screwed them up,so they arrested him !!! Regards, SKYLINE(Kym)....

skyline replied to Laurence's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sydneykid and all, Do you corner weight the car when setting up coil overs?Ie set ride height first very close to what you desire then do fine adj to heights using scales(incl drivers weight) to try and achieve equal or near equal weights in all 4 cnrs? Regards, SKYLINE(Kym)..... -

how do you drive manual properly?
skyline replied to warpz0r's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I always heel and toe on downshifts(If you ppls dont know how to do this watch some of the v8supercar racing with the non syncro boxes you will soon learn--mind you it does take much practice to get right)as the mechanic said you will wear out the'box if using just the box to pull up,you must ave the brakes applied an instant before downshifting as this takes the load of the box,but also assists with the brakes as they arent doing all the work. As for what gear to be driving in you should be able to hear the car labouring if in too higher gear when cornering, if not turn down the boom box!Typically i drive using 2500 to 3000 rpm on upshifts depending on how the traffic is flowing(and i use 5th gear in traffic if its flowing well and i can read the traffic well enough) as i usually keep fairly high corner speeds(even in the 'burbs) i generally use third gear for this and get good pull out of the corners because its in the meat of boost so usually its ok,but i rarely go down as far as second. Ive been driving our line now for 7yrs and do an occassional track day and generally drive at the track using the same or similar principals. Regards, SKYLINE(Kym).... -
STU, shorely there must be stacks of older svd cruises that a lot of the 'newer" generation of drivers/owners hav'nt either seen or heard of? will ahve to hvae a scratch around and see what we can come up with!(From memory i think the most we had on a cruise was 35 liners on a twilight barrosa diners cruise a couple of years ago now???) Regards, SKYLINE(Kym)........ :run:
