Hey James, I think I have your MAS magazine. Was it the BarB issue? For some reason I have 2 mags, one with the Pac Performance RX7 and one with the BarB BMW. I'll bring it 2morrow night.

Hey Shan, I don't want to post anything on MCCR due to the possible controversy which may arise. Feel free to take parts of what I said to the MCCR forum and let them decide what they want to do. As I said, I'm over this HP BS.

Ok, here's the deal. I'm only gonna say this once and whoever wants to quote me on other forums and the like can. I officially no longer give a flying **** about this whole who has more power ordeal. If I knew that this would be such a big issue, I wouldn't have competed in the competition coz all that happens is people start bad mouthing others in a way which is unbecoming to the club/workshop they represent which is something we really don't need in our car scene. It already gets enough grief from the outsiders and police who deem us to be hoons and dangerous drivers. We don't need this kind of macho BS within the circles of imports starting about who has the most powerful cars and who was the outright winner and who has the shittest car and who has the biggest balls etc. Why can't we all get along and promote the industry in a way where everyone benefits and we can give the public an image of us all having similar interests and some friendly competiton now and then. When it comes down to people name calling and sticking their chests out it becomes a bloody joke for all those involved and I fear that we'll get the same image of illegal street draggers which not only is dangerous but also uncalled for and unnecessary. There was simply too much testosterone running around on Sunday and people started questioning the judgements of the Cabin crew which is unacceptable behaviour. In professional sports, this would be instant suspension. There are judges there for one reason and one reason only, to make judgements. A judgement was made on Sunday and the result is final. There isn't much people can do about it now. For all those interested on my stance of this entire BS saga, here is how I see it. If you don't agree, don't, if you do agree, good on ya. I competed in 2 different categories during the running of Melbourne AutoSalon 2003 which were AWD and RWD categories. This means that I am entitled to 2 runs as they were different categories and I completed 2 entry forms, both of which were accepted by Cabin officials. I ran on the Saturday and made 426 Kw at all four wheels which at the time placed me first in both AWD category and Outright leader. On Sunday, my Outright lead was beaten by the VL which made 446 Kw at the rear wheels. I was supposed to go on after the VL and then the Supra would be officially the last car judged in the HP Challenge for Melbourne AutoSalon 2003 I was then told that the Supra would run after the VL, which logically made my car officially the last car to be judged in the HP Challenge. The Supra managed a best of 468 Kw at the rears which now made it the outright HP Challenge leader. My GTR then came out as officailly the last car to run and made 495 Kw at the rears which made me the outright leader of the HP Challenge Judging closed The Supra came out again and made 525 Kw at the rears which although was the highest HP figure out during AutoSalon did not count as judging was complete. Full credit to all those involved in preparing the Supra. I'm sure there was just as much if not more preparation time going into that car as there was going into mine. Let's get a few straight now. Yes, I admit the Supra made more HP than my car did over the weekend. Anyone who wouldn't acknowledge that is either blind, ignorrant or just plain stupid, but the fact of the matter is that the judges closed the competition after my car ran and hence the competition was over. This says two things to me. The first being that the Supra made the most power of any car which went on the dyno that weekend. The second being that due it being after judging closed, my car was officially judged the Outright HP Challenge winner and winner of the 6 Cylinder class (as they decided not to have a AWD category due to lack of participants). For those who argue that the Supra deserved 2 runs coz I had 2 runs, I pose this to you; if I didn't run the car in AWD at all and had only a RWD run and the Supra came out and beat me, that's all well and good and the trophies would be sitting on a shelf with the Supra's owner. The fact that I competed in 2 categories and had 1 run in each category should be enough justification for you for 2 runs. If the Supra decided to somehow compete in the AWD category (God knows how) too then I wouldn't have a problem with it having 2 runs as it would be 1 run in each category. Also, if you take into consideration the drivetrain loss of a AWD compared to a RWD, it is obvious that nothing was changed in the cars tuning between the 2 runs. As for name calling and the like which supposedly occured during the competition, I have only this to say. I was in the cage at all times the Supra and the GTR was being run. I was close enough to both the SAU/BMT crew and the Supra crew to hear everything said and not once did I hear anything of real seriousness come out of people's mouths. Yes, you get the occasional snide remark from one party or another but that's a given considering the tension of the teams involved. We all say things sometimes which we don't mean and in hindsight it could possibly gone unsaid but it's part of the competition. I am confident that none of the SAU/BMT crew meant anything of the comments if there was anything bad said about the Supra crew. I had nothing but respect for the Supra crew when they made big numbers as did everyone from SAU/BMT and congrats should be made to them for making big numbers. Whether the car was running pump gas, had an exhaust or whether it was street driven on a daily basis is no concern to me. There was nothing in the rules saying that it had to be street driven. The only rule was that whoever made the most power during judging time would win and that is what happened. As for a Shootout, as the owner of the GTR, I have not heard anything about this and I'm sure I would have if my car was going to be involved in such an event. I have nothing to prove to anyone. I went to Melbourne AutoSalon 2003 to see how my car compared to other GTRs. Due to the lack of GTRs, I decided I wanted to see how I compared to other 6 cylinder cars. I guess we all saw the results and I am more than pleased that our small little crew can compete with the bigger well known crews out there. Thanks to all involved and I apologise for the long post. I feel that something had to be said to straighten some things out.

The GTR won't be out for a little while. We're having brake issues at the moment so until their fixed, we won't be driving fast anywhere. I will keep you all updated as to when I'm heading to the drags.

Thanks for all the kind comments people, I really appreciate it. It couldn't have been done without all the people mentioned in the inital post. It does take a whole team to get a car to this point. It's almost impossible to do all of it yourself and I'm very proud be surrounded with so many people with the same passions as I do. Hehe. 4x4 slides are cool. Believe it or not, what you saw in the carpark was my 2nd time I did it....The first was when I was taking the car to Ice after tuning on Friday Let me tell you that it is a weird feeling when all 4 wheels break traction No, I never found out who siliconed the tread but we got there anyways despite the setbacks. I'm happy with that. Not sure what my times will be. Last I ran on the strip, it did a 11.5@124 Mph on Falcan Azinis and a slipping clutch. It also only had 370 Rwkw. Now that I have Nittos, a triple plate clutch and a tough g/box, I too am interested in the times this car will make. 0-100 was measured at 3.4 secs with a stopwatch in the car. That was with 365 Rwkw. Negative on that one. The first time I met Benny was at MAS. He is one of the most genuine guys I have ever met and once again I must thank him and the BMT crew for their help during the show. I can do a BBQ though

TOLL IPEC ARE THE WORST COURIERS I'VE EVER USED AND WILL NEVER USE THEIR PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A SERVICE EVER AGAIN!!!!! I do not under any circumstances recommend this company. I would rather walk to Sydney, pick up a toothpick and walk back to Melb than to trust this useless collective of muppets who couldn't find their way out of a jumping castle. This is why I'm having a vent (sorry if this is the wrong place): 1. Product was ordered from a workshop in Richmond on Tues. The order went from this shop to the suppliers in Sydney yesterday 1st thing. The package was scanned out of Sydney yesterday at 11am. As of 5:45pm today (Wed), the package has not been scanned in Melb which could mean one of two things. Either the package hasn't arrived in Melb or they've lost it. I'm not happy with either excuse as they said it would be at it's destination by the end of the next business day which from what I can tell finished 25 mins ago!! 2. Another product was supposed to arrive from Qld on Friday. It didn't. They came round on Monday when nobody was there and didn't read the big note on the front door which said to deliver the package across the road. They took the package back to the depot and left a card. I then rang to organise another delivery time for this morning and low and behold, it didn't even leave the ****ing depot today. Even though they know it's in there, they won't allow me to go there and pick it up. They are going to get it out to me in the morning apparently. I'd like to see that!! If I've learnt anything out of this experience besides Toll Ipec being a bunch of uncooperative, unreliable, highly overexpensive tools, it's that if you need something done badly, you either need to either do it yourself or find a trustworthy, reliable party to help you. If I don't have all my parts by 2pm tomorrow, I doubt my car will be attending MAS. Please help me pray that these parts arrive.
-
My car will be there as long as I can find out where my brakes, head gasket and harmonic balancer are. I know they're in Melb somewhere, possibly on delivery trucks but noone seems to know where in this ****ing city my parts are. I HATE CARS AND COURIERS AND ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH THEM!!!

If all goes well, I'll have my car at the carwash. It definately needs a wash, polish, etc but I'm not sure whether we can do a good enough job. The car was last detailed in Sept 02 and it is now covered in dirt, dust, poo and every other conceivable thing known to man. If the wash doesn't clean it all up, I may have to get a professional detailing on Friday morning.

Hey Jet, Yr gonna get on the dyno yeah?? It would be interesting to see how the dyno at MAS compares to the dyno we're using to tune my car. Also, checking out drivetrain loss from RWD to 4WD should be interesting (assuming their both calibrated correctly).

I'm all good.

2 x 6 psiton AP brake setups

Both sets of brakes have now been sold. Sorry for not mentioning it earlier. -
I highly recommend eithe the Falcan Azinis ST115 or the Bridgestone RE540 semicomps for grip. FM901s are also an awesome tyre. I currently have the ST115s on my GTR and they hold really well. Also, they helped take my car to a 11.58@124MPH at Calder Park with a slipping clutch so the grip isn't a problem. Nittos are excellent tyres for what they are designed for. Ie. A streetable drag tyre. Although not legal in AU, a cop wouldn't be able to tell as it has a good tread on it. The only thing which differentiates them from legal street tyres are the softer sidewall (excellent for dragging) and very soft tread (softer than semicomps). They are good for about 12,000 kms on the road and about 5,000 strip kms. Don't bother with them on the circuit though, the lateral rigidity is way too soft. As for the wet, Nittos' won't go anywhere and you will do nothing but kill yourself as the tread is simply designed for dry, straight conditions.

Number plate Ideas for a GTR
Leewah replied to Ethan_R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
RBDETT is taken. I own it -
I too wanna hear my car scream again. I'm waiting for a head gasket from Sydney and then the engine should be together by tomorrow night, in the car on Wed and then tuned Thurs (fingers crossed nothing breaks). Cleaning on Friday and then onto MAS!!!! Chances of me being there, 100%, with the car, 80%.

4WD DYNOS BITE!!! unless you want real readings
-
Alright people. Stop wrecking my thread!! I need to know details about this dyno challenge, bot how big your dicks are....
-
I'll be there car or no car....
-
Quite true but it ain't a 6 cylinder car and it certainly ain't a GTR which I'm comparing myself to. Also, my car is still driven on the road and raced. How many other cars do you know with stupid HP do the same? What I really need to know though is whether anyone can confirm this is gonna be a 4wd or 2wd dyno. As for being able afford to fixing it all the time, I think not....
-
Rajab unfortunately isn't around anymore and I'm not really gonna be in the dyno challenge to gauge how my car is compared to other GTRs in Vic or AU. NSW Autosalon's winner had 456rkwk and NZ had 380rwkw. I'm interested as these were measured in RWKW and not @ all 4 wheels which means that if I compete with VLs and the like, they'll have an advantage due to less drivetrain loss.
-
James, Thanks for the info. Please confirm that it is a 4wd dyno coz I don't wanna get there with the front shaft in there to find that it is a rwd dyno and I'll have to get under the car with a trolley jack and put the shaft off. Also, what's the latest I can let you know whether I'm gonna make it. It's looking pretty good at the mo but we all know that things with cars can turn pear shaped very quickly. INASNT, Power at this point is undecided. I don't wanna blow my engine again, but I'm willing to say that the figure will be as high as I can get it without blowing shite up.

What's this I hear of a carwash?? Please explain....Where, when, who and more importantly... Are skantilly clad ladies doing the washing???
-
Does anyone have details on how I can get my car in this comp if it is ready in time. Although I'll be cutting it close to have the car ready (Ie. Engine will hopefully be ready Wed and in the car Wed night), if it is ready, I really wanna compete in the HP challenge. Does anyone know if they'll be using a 2wd or 4wd so that I can either put the front shaft in or leave it out of the car. Also, how are running times organised? Are you allocated a time on either day or is it along the lines of "Take a number and wait yr turn". If the car is ready, I'll let someone know ASAP and organise me a little space for my car. Any help would be appreciated.

I WANT ONE!!!! Also, James, can you keep me updated on the meeting next week.

Well, it's official. Leewah is out of MAS as I just found out today that it's gonna take 10 days for my new goodies to arrive from Japan which gives bugger all time to put the car back together and tune. I apologise for pulling out but if I can be of any help during the MAS weekend, I'm happy to help. If we need ppl on the stand, I'm more than willing to be there all weekend as I've prioritised this weekend all to MAS.
