  1. And you all thought I was nutz when I said that they would rev it out to 5k. They have their own regulations down there and will rev your car simply coz they can.
  2. I won't be there till late, if at all Going to the Motor Show and that won't start till 8ish. May have to leave it till another day.
  3. Yes, yes it is.
  4. The customising of the turbo was suggested by a friend of Ice Performance, Ben at Racepace Motorsport in Bayswater. When I decided that I was going to try building a monster GTR (I was aiming at 400Kw @ all 4s), I was contemplating whether I work with twin 2835s or a large single turbo. As I posted earlier, the cost of a single setup was so much more appealing than a twin setup and so the single was the choice. Looking for 400Kw at the wheels is no easy feat and what's worse was that when my engine was originally prepped, it was only bored out to one oversize which meant that engine capacity didn't increase by all that much. I believe that my engine is now around the 2605cc mark rather than the 2557cc or whatever the stock engine is. Considering the rather small capacity engine and the amount of reliable power I wanted, going for a large single turbo would mean a serious case of lag due to less air flow than what could be achieved out of say a RB30 bottom end. I had seen Ben's RPMGTR run with the same size turbo as what I currently have but with a larger compressor wheel and exhuast housing. Due to size of his engine, the lag wasn't so bad but I was assured that it would be shockingly bad with my smaller engine. With this in mind, I wanted a turbo which could produce more power than I wanted which assured reliability but also a turbo which would spool at an acceptable RPM and be drivable everyday. I chose to go with the same turbo which the RPMGTR was using at the time with a smaller compressor wheel and also an exhaust housing which was smaller to increase the pressure of airflow which meant that lag was less of an issue than if I went with off the shelf gear. This was also "assured" through some calculations we made from a turbo calculator which I found. Ben organised the turbo and exhaust housing from a Garrett supplier with the agreed specs and it arrived within 2 weeks of ordering. The price was also much cheaper than if I had ordered a true T88 and T78 exhaust housing. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the progress of the car. It's now produced 375rwkw@19 psi on a dyno dynamics dyno and I feel that my engine can handle around the 25psi mark. Right now the only thing stopping me from boosting the pressure further is the fuel system which was erroneously installed by Speed Technology. It seems that the return line from the fuel tail to the surge tank they supplied was too small to handle fuel returning back to the tank and was starving the 2nd external Bosch pump to overheat and die. We're still working on this issue and hope to have it resolved very soon. Hope this sheds some clarity on my GTR.
  5. Yeah but not many look as good as yours
  6. Is that the crappy little club at the far end of the District Centre? Kaytees or some stupid name similar to that? I'd rather go to the other side of the building and throw money at a pokie. It'd be more entertaining and I may get a return on it A slight flu isn't a good enuf reason not to come down Ambz. Unless both your legs have been amputated hence rendering clutch and accelerator useless and you don't have the funding for a hand throttle, you gotta be there to see the Wardest 'Line. It is truely horney!!!!
  7. Hey Wardest, besides Ambz, we also have the fine Milk!!! Vickii is a new addition to the SAU crew who likes Skylines, FTOs and RAV4s. Say Hi Vic when you get the chance!!
  8. Wardest, you are nothing short of a classic mate. I may come to this do after the Motor Show. BTW, Ambz is the token SAU hot chicky, aren't ya Ambz What time we meeting???? I got the Station Pier bit but missed the time. As for you Richie, I reckon you paid that girls rent for at least 3 months
  9. There is also a fuse in the R33 which you can remove. This will be fine for 1 or 2 runs but after that you heat the transfer case and risk heavy damage. The best way to dyno a R33 GTR is to remove the front shaft and you can do as many runs as you like. The 4WD light will probably come on but don't worry about it. I generally use my HKS torque splitter to run on a 2WD dyno.
  10. Richie, That maybe true but as far as the EPA are concerned, they tested my Nissan Skyline with my number plates :shake: INASNT, if yr really worried bout your car failing, find someone with a stock R33 white GTSt and change rego and complience plates over and you'll be fine. Trust me. I know from experience
  11. I'm sure they tested my car at 5k. Maybe coz it's a 2.6 but I'm pretty sure they check it by number of cylinders in the car. I could be wrong though....
  12. The test is done by an independant EPA chosen representitive. I believe that there is a listing on your piece of paper which lists who can do the test. A silencer will only be accepted if the silencer is welded in place. A screw in silencer is not acceptable. They reved my car to 5k and you must come in under 90db. I got 89db with a stock GTR exhuast on a totally stock R33 GTR.
  13. Nark, I've passed your query onto Gerald and waiting on a response from him.
  14. Not for a while your not. No fuel system means no go unless you like The Flintstones Petrol is so expensive atm, I thought it's time to fix the fuel pump problems I'm having.
  15. I did for the 1st year I had the car I went to a single back in July 2002.
  16. Dude, Obviously you weren't looking close enough to the 2 cars Ben's turbo is BIGGER for one, his intake piping goes down through the chassis to the bottom where the indicators are on a stock front bar, and most importantly, his car is white!! His rocker covers are black (used to be red), and his radiator shield is a stainless silver piece. His intake plenum ain't stock. His catch can looks different. He runs Tomei cam gears..... Should I go on??? :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake:
  17. Believe me. I've seen it. I farken ROX!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I will have a twin plate OS Giken clutch for sale soon as soon as my Ogura triple plate goes in. Should have the clutch out by the end of next week. Check out my previous post: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...=&threadid=9450
  19. I'm not sure that yr car is a factory color dude. I'm pretty sure it's a custom jobbie. Anyways, I've always got the camera in my bag for happy snaps. Just have to find a time to catch up with you considering how busy you are these days terrorising the streets in your new rice rocket If you come to the factory 2nite, I can take some shots
  20. Appreciate the comments all. Yes I could have gone a bigger turb than that but this one suits my hp requirements at the mo The only thing is that if I do go bigger now, I need a new manifold which positions the turb further forward. I do know of a car running the larger turbo and it's making 460rwkw on PULP on a base mapping  The turbo itself isn't actually a T88 but a Garrett equivalant which was custom sized wheel and exhaust housing to suit my requirements of a faster spooling turbo. The exhaust housing is the size of a T78. Call Unifilter and they can sort you out. That's a 5" pipe they usually fit to trucks.
  21. When I decided to do a complete rebuild of my engine, I decided to go a large single setup instead of a medium twin setup like a 2835 or 3037S for a number of reasons. Primarily, price. With a TT setup, you have almost double the costs in dump pipes, wastegates and the like. A single setup only requires one dump pipe and one wastegate. Also the large single turbo is less laggy than the above mentioned twin setups. My turbo will spool at about 4300 and keep climbing past 8800. My rev limiter is currently set to 9000rpm in an effort to make the engine last as long as possible. The turbo itself is good for 35psi which would create as much as 500rwkw at the wheels in a GTR with the correct setup engine. A twin setup such as the 2835s or 3037s setup won't spool till after 5000rpm unless you do a larger bottom end like Munro.
  22. I was using the inbuilt boost controller in the Autronic for a while combined with a 14lb spring in my wastegate but have recently moved to using a ProfecB which I had lying around. Holds boost fantastically. Constant 18psi when do tuning runs. Only problem with it though is that it is a little difficult to tune as the knobs are a bit sensitive.
  23. Fuel rail is now sold. Gauges are still for sale though.
  24. These are G's. No longer needs em.
  25. Private sale. Ignore the signature.
