don't mean to offend but dam what's with the camry spec 5 spokes?? -
as mentioned above, getting a towbar can be a pain. there is a guy in canberra who made one up rated by him to 2.0 tonne. don't confuse this with being engineered to 2.0 tonne you have to get it engineered urself to make it completely legal. however do your research as i bought one of these on recommendation of many SAU members and found it didn't allign at all with the back of my car. The installer up here did tell me though that once they got my rear bumper off there is evidence that my car has been in a accident (which i didn't know when i bought it) and was also told same thing by the tyre shop when they tried to do an allignment, so now i'm out $800 odd for a towbar that won't work on my car. So by research i mean no rear damage repaired or otherwise to the stagea you buy. Also alot of places won't fit second hand towbars, or ones that are made by someone else, or be willing to design one for you.

Relative Maintenance Level Of The Stagea
Pft shh 89 replied to tomo88's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I would say that i am about the same level as you as to how much i can do myself and i have found my series 2 C34 quite easy to work on, i did give it to a shop to replace the clutch mostly because of space and tool issues though. as you said the engines and gearboxes are skyline spec, but it's a bit hit and miss with other stuff such as suspension. ie some parts are from r33gtr, some r33gtt etc. i do all of my own servicing though and is easy, i haven't had any problems with mine except the clutch wearing out because of too many hard launches on my part. in all i would say if you like the outdoors stuff and don't mind the odd dirty look, or person waiting by ur car in carparks to find out what it is i would say go for it there is plenty of great stock and mildly modified examples out there. The best piece of advice i can give is make a list of options that you want it to have and wait until you find one with all of them, as they can be slow to move on due to not being that well known by wagon lovers, and shunned a bit by the sports car scene. I guess what i'm trying to say is it's a small market if you decide to sell to get a better spec'd example down the track so make sure you get what you want from the start. -

hahahahahahahahahahaha my mates adjust mine all the time, i have to keep standing them back up wen i want to put my DJ gear in the boot, otherwise it doesn't fit
-
could just leave the reservoir where it is and have a panel in side of the tray, or of course rip it out and just make it 2wd = more fun
-
just a couple quick questions, is it $200 for each side or $200 for both, and also how do they attach, screw through floor?, into inside of quarter panel, bolt into existing holes somewhere?

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Pft shh 89 replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
i wish i had that luxury up here in townsville, we have one nissan dealer, and i went in and asked about towbars when i first got mine (before i read about the max ones) and his answer was 'stagea? that's an import correct?' my response 'yup', him 'we don't have anything to do with any parts for any imports whatsoever' i just walked out. didn't even reply to him -

Not Impressed With Well Known Workshop
Pft shh 89 replied to oldie's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
i find it amusing one thing my dad does is say to them, "if the old one isn't in a bag in the boot, the new one doesn't go on the bill" which i think is a good way to do it until you know you can trust a workshop, when i got my clutch replaced they still had it on the hoist when i got there as i was a bit early, and they let me have a look under it, and also showed me the old one leaning against one of the hoist legs, were most informative and even though when they had finished it was after their close still took the time to wait and adjust the pickup point with me so i was happy with it, (as to how far off the floor) so if anybody ever takes a road trip townsville the place to go if you run into trouble with stageas or skylines) is Xtreme Motorsport. -
so to get this correct in my head for when i finally buy a decent set of rims. buying rims that are different widths (ie 8.5 and 9) with different width and sidewall height (ie 235/40 and 265/40,35 or watever) will f**k it up but if i get both as for example 19 inch by 9 inch with 245/40 tyres but have the fronts as +22 offset and rears as +11 offset won't. Ignoring the fact that i've pulled these numbers out of...well you know where as far as if they will fit in the guards. The fact that the only difference is the offset means they will work....yes? because the only difference is how far the outside of the rim sits from the hub?
-
mine didn't work after 5 times mine was like 7 or 8 or something so try doing a couple more pushes

yeah i know i had the drivers side done the other week which is when they noticed that other side is split too, drivers side was the worst, ill be very lucky if i don't have to replace that as the inner boot was almost non existant, fingers crossed though. -

Oil change done with Royal Purple, Ryco filter, old stuff was pretty black, have decided i will now be doing them on 7,500kms rather than the 10,000kms the workshop suggested when i had all fluids changed when i bought it. Also attached the new AFM plug which has made a difference to the way it idles (in a good way). So pretty happy atm. Only have to get passenger side cv boots done as they are split and car will be perfect. maybe next payday i think. -
That's A Nice Looking Volvo Mate.......
Pft shh 89 replied to Paramour's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
was getting out of mine at the shops the other day, just parked and left motor idling while closing windows and sunroof's and some 40 odd year old lady walked past the front (had reversed into carpark) and gave me the dirtiest look possible, ie as if i'd gotten out and taken a s**t in the middle of the carpark or something. then got to her car bout 3 spots down, by which time i was out and just with a slightly raised voice said. just cause u can't afford it, she looked up and i turned and walked. found it quite amusing though was half expecting an abusive note or smashed window when i came back. -
