  1. ebay search found this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-STAGEA-C34-SERIES-2-FACTORYCIBIE-DRIVING-LIGHTS-/121044179680?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2ecb9ae0
  2. aah ok cool will give that a try when i get back from holidays, thanks.
  3. i know people say that wagons handle like boats but in this instance i don't think the distinction was quite necessary
  4. so your saying put a piece of timber either side in the vice so its not touching the metal vice, or by soft do you mean wrap it in a cloth then wack that straight in the vice and tighten up?? still have to buy another set of rear pads though....i guess that's not as much as an upgrade.
  5. A little while ago i replaced my brake pads all round due to the fact that the rear left was metal on metal (the rest still had a fair bit on them but changed them anyway so they were all the same), while it was off i noticed one of the bar guide things in the caliper was a tiny bit bent. Hoping it wouldn't be too much of an issue i just put them back on. Turns out now it is an issue as the same corner has worn down again. rather than just find a new/secondhand caliper, i thought it might be a good reason to do a brake upgrade all round. Can anyone confirm the below for me? also should i be looking for new stuff or just go secondhand? and also will this be a reasonable upgrade or would i be better off going something bigger/different?
  6. ever tried to drink through a really long straw???? just my thoughts.......
  7. congrats dude, definately an interesting experience, and hope everyone is doing well
  8. didnt he want to make a ute at one point.............looking for new project car perhaps.................
  9. not so much in as on but i'm sure it still counts. for fixing the deck at the place my bro lives at.
  10. wish i had the $6000 right about now, would swap all my bits onto it for the straight body, continuely finding things wrong/out of shape with mine, presumably from the accident it was in before i got it. grrrr, stupid missus wanting a holiday at xmas and a big wedding in less than 2 years
  11. so... the auto lec had an opening today and was able to look at my car. may have been the name dropping i did of my uncle who used to work there, and he asked who's son i was, when i told him he was like oh yeah. turns out starter was completely f***ed not even worth trying to repair, so in went a brand new one, not genuine, or hitachi (which the old one was) but brand new, for the total price of...wait for it... $390.50. so i now have my car back for the weekend, which isn't bad considering he originally wouldn't get to it until atleast monday. very happy stagea owner up here in far north queensland
  12. so i've tried a new battery with a much higher cca than mine, both via jumper cables (disconnected my battery so straight to my cars terminal leads) and then swapping completely and bolting my leads onto it, with the same result. Car doesn't turn and starter motor makes no noise whatsoever, not even a single click. gonna try a push start when my mates finish work and see how that goes.....
  13. yeah might give that a try i guess, as you said, it's free and won't hurt anything if it doesn't work. cheers guys, will let you know how it pans out.
  14. yeah battery is one of those with the green light, only bout 4 months old but alot smaller than the one that was in there originally, they assured me it would be plenty big for this car as it's what the book says for skylines, i dunno. not feeling that brave with the starter, definately didn't hear it clicking, earliest i can get into auto elec is monday, which i guess isn't to bad. was thinking i might get some mates 2morrow arvo after work or on the weekend to see if we can push start it to confirm it's not the motor or anything, ie if the motor runs fine then it must be something to do with the starter.
  15. So basically car won't start, turn over, nothing, even when trying to jump it starter won't crank at all. The other day (Sunday just gone) it was slow to turn over, started fine in the morning then progressively got slower till it barely started, so i parked it facing down my boss's driveway thinking if it didn't start i could let it roll down and effectively push start it, without the pushing part lol. when i got in that time it started perfect, full normal crank speed. then was starting ok since then. Missus goes out to her mates today, and i get a phone call half way through my after work grandpa nap saying the car won't start. and that it didn't turn over at all. so over there i drive and try jump it off her car, (little getz but have used it when my old battery was rooted) and still absolutely nothing. so we had to get her mum to come pick up her and bub and bring them home. Any thoughts on whether i'm on the right train of thought, or anything else i could check, checked all fuses, and engine bay connections i could see while i was there. and battery is only bout 4 months old.
  16. looks like victoria number plate??
  17. that is mad makes the rear end look not weird, 'hey babe can we buy a new car......'
  18. something you use to go fishing for crabs.....?
  19. way i did mine was just to have it in 4th gear (least mechanical advantage of you trying to roll the car, spose 5th would work even better), hand brake on and got the biggest extender i had onto my socket, wrapped with a rag (so no metal-metal contact) and hit with hammer, still took a little bit but eventually got it undone, note this was also done on a sodden old uneven driveway.
  20. 'Like' agree completely the numbers don't mean anything to me as i know sweet FA about turbos but in the end - your car, your choice
  21. dam i miss out by a week lol oh well,
  22. oh forgot to update, all is well, timing is back where it was set, car runs perfect had a slip of aircon belt on initial start up to get rid of some excess water (splashed on belts when i forgot to put bottom radiator hose back on before filling, silly me in a hurry to get it finished) but yeah car is good as new and next time i need to do it should be alot quicker as i now have ALL tools required and know what needs to be removed and what doesn't. as i mentioned above kudos to having SK's tutorial to follow.
  23. are u after the 16th?
  24. had a quick look at your profile, definately need to put some pics up (of your car please) and also yes i'm still i believe the youngest active member on here at 22 yay!! glad to see i'm not the only young person who likes these cars, my mates all give me so much s*** for driving a wagon, even though i need the space for work, and for my son.
  25. lucky you my wiring was completely mangled, and a whole cut into the back of the light for a whole new h3 mount to sit through. which doesn't hold a h3 bulb properly,
