  1. This really is an interesting thread, packed full of good info. I'd be extremely interested in someone with knowledge to look/feel at what my car needs. Maybe I'd be best served by getting a "pro" into drive it? Would you agree Gary or do you think a tried and tested formula for a GTS-t is out there? I was lucky enough to borrow a set of DMS from Greg (they're for sale if anyone wants them and I think would be great value) for targa this year and found them a great addition, really soaked up the bumps, we felt we were able to "motorcross" the thing on the public roads. Now I'm home, I've had to revert to a rebuilt set of Apexi N1's for the circuit duty I do between tarmac rallies. Whilst to me they feel both oversprung and overdamped, the car is quick, very quick. I guess I wonder if "good" springs and shocks could make it quicker? The main reason I'm considering a set of MCA is for tarmac rallies, where I think a larger bore shock with more capacity is required, normal type shocks just overheat too quickly on long bumpy stages.
  2. Welcome aboard mate I think you belong with us in the Motorsport section Where ya located?
  3. don't panic roy, i dont have mine yet, still workin on him.
  4. Just advising guys that there's free practice tomorrow. No booking required, just turn up from 8am. $80 half day, $120 fullday See ya there
  5. I told myself I'd never attend another one. Got a bad taste in my mouth when at the 2nd one a fat fark bogan in a T-bucket (in the 'staging" section) nailed his throttle, going sideways, and opened up the rear quarter panel of my mint GTR like a can opener. He then tried to fark of and we had to chase him, then it resulted in a fist fight between him, his buddies and my buddy and I. Took me two months to get the money out of him Farkin scum shit bevans.
  6. Rubens has been my man all year, hope he can pull a win for the WDC this year and keep the dream alive for all us old blokes..... **thinks to self** "yeah, I could do that too" LOLOL
  7. LOL, great advice When I grow up I wanna be a middle man!
  8. Yes, enough emphasis can't be put on how important being properly strapped into the car is. My mate Johnny O (a member on here) is a great steerer, but sitting beside him around Lakeside recently in his roady 32 GTR on sticky tyres I can really see how his driving is severly compromised by the standard seat and belt. He is forced to brace himself however he can, usually straight-arming in the longer corners which means he just can't adjust his line with his hands, on the throttle. He didn't realise just how bad it was until I highlighted it to him, now he's on the hunt for a seat he can bolt in the night before the track day. A simple taxi bar can be made up and bolted to the upper seatbelt pivot points for the harness too I'll be interested in seeing his lap times once he doesn't need to spend half his energy just hanging on! lol
  9. Agree Roy, Renault will be out from this season as a constructor. I watched the race live, but also watched the replay on One the other night..... does anyone agree with me that the comentators just suck? Like really, these guys would be on big bucks, but just suck! Brundle not realising that Kubica's front winglet would have been damaged when he turned Webber across the front of him, and the outrageous amount of man-love for Hamilton, look, I know they're Poms, but it's a worldwide telecast, stop trying to blow your countryman on global television!
  10. I lyke, is niiiice! (Borat)
  11. lolol , well sorry Russ but seems I'm now Johnny on the spot .... not my fault you moved up there! You were damn lucky not to get the fine for 140 mate, instant loss of licence! Did the big 'cruiser get up without needing 5 litres of oil topped up? lol
  12. Yeah I am aware of it thanks mate I see the calender, it shows maybe 60 to 70 booked days. Now, wanna tell me how many days there is in a year?
  13. I nearly came back and deleted my last post because it's just impossible to not sound like some kind of tosser when giving advise on this subject. I totally agree with Richard, after a good harness and seat, the best money you could spend is to get a professional instructor in your car with you. He/she can give you some good advice to where you may improve. Go with someone with a good reputation, as I've seen "driving instructors" that couldn't drive a greasy stick up a dog's arse, and I've even seen a couple write off client's cars. way not cool.
  14. I can't really completely agree with Baron's thoughts of basically "must affix hands to the wheel". I think it's best to try and remain fluent at the wheel, if that means moving your hands around the rim a little then so be it. I'm a bit of a "shuffler" myself if you watch closely. Nothing staggering, just a bit. I'd rather shuffle than cross my arms though. I have also discovered that I have suprisingly more control when big sideways when shuffling than when I used to "not shuffle". Gee it's hard to explain! Also, when you watch guys in real race cars, be it V8's/rally, whatever, they typically have much less wheel movement required than a road car, as their steering ratios are much much quicker. So, really, it's a little dangerous trying to copy a style thats used directly from a real racer.
  15. I'm still giggling at Chop Chop lolol Maybe begin a new thread about driving techniques? That way be can all get together and really confuse eachother! lol I don't rate the left handers the way you put your hands at the top together (like others have said already), it may be because your seat is shite (for track work), or just a habit you've picked up. Other than that you look to be doing well. Please don't think that I think I'm prefect, I'm a no one! If money's tight, grab a one pice $200- race bucket (with rails! lol) from Just Jap and bolt it in, you'll be amazed how much your driving improves when the only thing you need to concentrate on is the driving, not the hanging on I did this for my GT4 and the difference was instantly noticable. Now, Chop Chop!
  16. See, remind Mark long and hard enough and it comes off.... I'm driving the thing 6/10/09 Weeeeeeee......
  17. You're 100% correct there my man, being fun is a huge slice of the experience. Thats one reason I decided to keep my thing and not "step up" to an Evo/STi...... And really, the MPS was only up there because there was no one else having a full crack at catching Greggy
  18. LOL, CHOP CHOP! Right handers don't look too bad, but dude, left handers, WTF! lol, you need a decent seat so you can concentrate on driving instead of hanging on I think.
  19. Smart man, so many guys go ahead it the wronf way around. In my opinion
  20. Is there some Audi R8 envy 'round the front though?
  21. Looks nice, won't have a buckley's chance in hell against a well driven Evo or STi though.
  22. Yeah Noddy, it's near impossible to get info re practice days out there. As I said I'm yet to drive the track, and would love to make the trip up, as would about 5 mates. I'm thinking we hire a full day?
  23. Practice this friday 18/9/09... anyone goin?
  24. It's shit. And I won't be convinced of anything else until I drive it.
  25. Know anyone wanting to get rid of a seat? Need one for Project Turd S13
