Good thread, with lots of opinions Something I've noticed crawling through here, is some people choose not to have a horizontal B-pillar (taxi) bar.... I insist on one for my car, and I'm not referring to cage strength, but rather harness mounting. I cringe when I see guys heading into stage/track with harnesses attached to or near the parcel shelf and the shoulder straps are sagging. It's more common that you may think. It'd be possible to have your shoulders come out of the harness. I like my harnesses attached to the B pillar taxi bar, much less chance of stretch in a big one. I also make a point of doing my harness up absolutely as tight as I can, wiggle into the seat, cinching it down. A good point to remember I think; correctly installing and wearing of a harness is just as important as a cage!

I saw the kids at playgroup watching a Motive dvd..... nailed the target market I reckon

Did Quinny actually get a Focus RS outa Honkers like he was talking about?

You can skid 'ole Blacky Timmy Andrew, found it on boostcruising. The guy wanted 3k, so went and looked at it, showed him what 1500 looks like and towed it home

It's for a mate of mine who's shown some interest in getting a bit more involved. Figured something like this is a pretty good learner car, cheap to build, and not the end of the earth if he bins it. Body-wise it's actually a ripper, will look alright once it's "de-wankered".

Another shitter enters the fray! A fully complied ex-Boostcruising 1992 S13. lol. We've already stripped the weight, got stock bars on the way (should sell the mint Uras kit for good $). Pic is the night she came home, it's been sitting in this kid's shed for years. Just need to sort a diff/coil overs, and some front brakes, and she's away. Came with an RB20 conversion with RB25 'box, all for the tidy sum of $1500

Ditto that Roy, just maybe not in quite the same kinda freaky way. I feel like I'm reading Mark's fan mail .....

Yeah cheers Victory, there's nothing at all wrong with my setup, it feels great to me! lol I just see everyone else running around changing this and that and had to ask if I'm missing something? Some guys say they change it to get the alloy hubs for lighter unsprung weight, but at what cost? More rotating mass? I know what I'd rather deal with, no prize for guessing the last thing an RB20 needs is more resistance to overcome. And I certainly wouldn't want to have a taller ratio, although I know most people hunt down the GTS4 ratios to negate that. I'll ask again, but does anyone know where the strength limit is for GTS-t rear end? And what breaks first? -

I haven't spoken to Benno about anything, well, nothin except love, life, and the ways of this world..... What are you refering to Benny? You know my thoughts on this stuff, a GTS-t is suppossed to be a budget racer, and if I don't need to spend a grand for little or no benefit, well, I just won't. I don't see the need to change for change's sake. -
Good. I'd suggest lining your stomach witha bin liner prior to your arrival.

Hmmmmmm. I think I might stick with what I have then. I do need to have some other shocks made for it, but if I keep the GTS layout then I'll be able to keep my Apexi coil overs as spares I figure. Do we know when we can normally expect GTS shafts to start breaking? Should I have broken it by now? I'm on my 3rd rb20 gearbox now Cheers gents! -

Thanks Baron! Ok, so really, besides having bigger shafts, which at my power level is a dubious requirement, what's the advantage? Is it all worth the trouble? Would there be a measurable improvement? The thing isn't exactly a slouch now. -
Damo, it's a 20 mate, just set everything the max and she'll be all good lol

I'll add that I'm a bit pissed that I gave away all this GTR shit after I sold my 32gtr because I couldn't stand looking at it, who'd have thunk that one day I'd find myself looking for gtr shit to put on a gts..... grrrrrr. -

My memory tells me that the ABS wheels are on each halfshaft, whith the ABS sensors having a casting on the diff housing. Can someone confirm? Fatz, I was thinkin of you when I wrote that, knew you'd have one, PM a 4 mate.... son of rajab knows how I can freight it though, but I do have a TNT account. every shimmed GTR diff I've driven will still spin an unloaded wheel, say when corner cutting or curb hopping, is there something the Baron does thats different, like maybe some secret CIG plating? lol -
Heya folks, I did a search but didn't really find a succinct answer from a known knowledgable source, so I figured it best to ask the MS gurus Now, as some of you know, I club track and tarmac rally my little GTS-t. At this level (read: not huge power!), what are the benefits of installing the GTR rear cradle/diff/shafts/hubs etc? I'd like to install ABS down the track, and I know the GTR housing/shafts are set up for the sensors, so that's one benefit. Alloy hubs, ok, another benefit due to weight, but really? New hubs mean I also need GTR type shocks.... another expense! Diff clutch packs.... I've never ever driven a GTR, even with a shimmed up diff, that hooks up like the diff in my GTS diff now (no, mine isn't std), thoughts on that, what to do? Power down is Very important for me. And if it really is worthwhile doing it, does anyone have a rear end they wanna sell less brakes? Appreciate ya help fellas!

hahaha, yeah! Great idea Fark me that's dangerous in those pits! When are you comin up flog? Summer in Brisvegas is a comin

Timmy and I are interested, but haven't got a budget at this stage... might be a last minute entrant...
-
That is poor form. And Timmay, RSZ have been used before, even at Targa Tas, but they comprehensively suck balls. I'd much rather a kilometre full of chicanes if they need to slow the average speed down.
-
Timmy, no, it didn't have a full diagonal, but rather two smaller diagonals behind each seat. They were welded about 50cm from the top and upper sides in the centre hoop. I found a pic that kinda shows the bars....... and our intensity! lol. Just zoom in on it a bit.; Deano, we run a PFC in ours, scrounged 2nd hand, but would love a Motec!
