Morgan Park is at Warwick mate. Next Lakeside day is this saturday, spectators are welcome and free. Kicks off about 9.30. It's the last day before they close it to re-profile and resurface it.

lol
-
But that is the essence of why I enjoy it, and I've driven it in 600hp cars too To me it rewards good smooth driving, and is as close to a tarmac rally stage as you can get on an Aussie race track. lol... you watch, I'll go out and bin my car saturday now hope not though.......

Easy with my 200RWHP

Must say I can't agree with the people whom are saying that a supercar should be able to cop a constant hammering. Hard driving yes, but not sustained abuse, which in my opinion constant use of LC is! If LC wasn't so accessable and easy for even a pathetic driver to use, it wouldn't be used as much. If the 35 didn't have such a fancy gearbox with the LC feature, how many people would abuse it with big rpm clutch dumps with a traditional 6 speed manual? Nowhere near as many. Heck, a Lambo Gallardo needs it's front diff replaced after 20, yes 20 launches! Cost? EIGHTEEN GRAND! Not to mention the standard clutch which is only good for three!
-
No, plenty of geartrain noise in first gear, but it's always been in the car. We decided against using LC during the event though, as we wanted stabilty control on and you cannot have both, and the car gets away very nicely anyway. Over a 25 klm stage the transmission oil temp didn't creep over 115 degrees that I saw, and it was just awesome all the time. No failures as yet (hopefully never!) in the geartrain, even though the car left the ground at times without any throttle lift in 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th..... I'd like to know what gear that is thats stripped in that link, I'm not familiar with the 'box to know just by looking. Any ideas?

lolol well played
-
I'm gonna wait until I can bolt a 7.0l alloy chev into a GTR using the sump/diff out of a HSV Coupe 4. And then I might turbocharge it. That should make up for my lack of driving ability.
-
Yep, noticed
-
lol.... mine's still in the dyno room! A friend just got his series 6 from japan, so its on! lol
-
Might be worth talking to Jim Russ? He's did the dry targa tas on the Toyos and was on those Pirellis(??) at the weekend in the wet.
-
Correct Duncan. Thats why I'm suggesting Russ doesn't do anything rash and spend a fortune on downsizing brakes/rims untli every rally he'd like to enter is either with AASA ot CAMS follows suit with the rules.

Whos out there saturday then?

Well, the box definately has some form of torque limiting feature built into it's smarts, because all the vehicles that have had Cobb tuners etc installed, show an extra 50 to 100kw on the dyno, but run 11.2's and 11.3's just like a stock one. The gearbox is both the best and worst feature of the vehicle imo. Love the way it works, but I can't help thinking it may hamper really big hp applications. Of course, the shift protocols wouild also require remapping if and when they get around the torque limiting, and then there's the question whether those clutches and/or internals can handle more grunt? Interesting times coming I reckon......

I reckon they're trying to scare off as many racer types from buying them and are wanting cafe cruising fudge packers to buy them instead. Makes sense from a business/warranty claim viewpoint. It's not as if they won't sell every one they can get their hands on anyway.....
-
Hmmmm, for some reason the tossers think that Indian people say "fully sikh". ??
-
Exactly!!!!! How about something similar to what Michael Stahl did years ago in a new Porshe 996 Carrera 4? Crossed the Simpson desert, and blasted the Porsche up and over the dune called "Big Red" while traditional 4wd's looked on. Now THAT would be great, but PLEASE don't get little Steve Pizzatti to do it, he's unwatchable.
-
Easily worse than last week....... I said I'd give it another chance, but it's official, I hate it. Pathetically thought out special feature at the mine, god-awful empty ford/holden comparo, and the Smart car hearse, well that took the farkin cake. Stig can't drive for shit, and I really mean that. Top Gear Australia.... DROP DEAD!

Could readily go back to 18's when really good rotors and full floating hats become available, but our concern is the effect on ground clearence.... high profile 18's aren't readily available. I think it's really dependant on what tyres become available for the 20's in the near future to see if it's worth the effort of going back a size or two. There are a few 19's available now, but the main area of interest is whether any of those current tyres can handle the weight of the 35, especially over six days of targa Tas?? As always, getting a range of everything together to do some proper testing is difficult and expensive, not to mention finding a suitable piece of tarmac to test on.
-
Yes yes sure can, but also looking for something new lads
-
lolololol.... reckon he did! Ask Simon and Sue Evans how they found it..... very very challenging rally. I was really suprised with how little carnage there was. A credit to all who competed really.

Does anyone know much about the Mt Stuart rally in Townsville next June? Is it really just a hillclimb? Starting to think about the next event, I had to turn down doing Buller with Gus Kennard next month coz i've already had too many days off, and with Indy coming up theres even more lost days......
-
Well, just got back! Mega hangover..... not as bad as Mark's though. The "Devil's Orange Juice" made an appearence in his mouth in the car this morning lolol Thanks for your kind words guys, Guesty, Wogboy and Savman, great to catch up. Guesty, you pour a wicked jug of bourbon mate! Congrats to Russ on finishing his first and what was a very testing rally. To gain a top ten in what was a pretty competetive field in an event that sure didn't suit the old road tyres is a bloody good start in my book And to everyone else we know through here that competed, well done! Kel, you did a superb job for Tony, excellent result. My hat goes off to Peter and Tash in the old DK R32..... fantastic result for the old girl (the GTR, not Tash ), Peter drove beautifully all weekend. Now the fun starts on the 35. Tyres and a bit of weight loss is in order I don't think it needs more power judging by our speed through the radar zone in the only dry bit of road coming out of Hellyer Gorge yesterday Longhurst was second fastest at 209 klm/h, we were punting at 241 apparently.
-
Well, works a wrap! Going home to pack. Checked the weather forecast for Burnie and surrounding, gonna be a slimey one I reckon. We'll see how these road tyres handle the greasy shit sooner rather than later Rain Friday, showers saturday, only the son of rajab knows for Sunday. Blowing a gale too they reckon so we'll keep an eye out for falling trees too Bring it on, I can't wait Cheers guys.

Baron, the thing probably wouldn't run when they plugged the camera power into the ciggie lighter or something...... dang computers!
