  1. Sugar, you're right Timmy! I totally forgot we don't overnight in Hobart anymore! DOH! Sorry Snowy!
  2. And don't you look pwiddy in it Timmy
  3. Internals aeren't free though?
  4. Roy, you know you're welcome to come and skid mine anytime up here! Sunday 21st of this month... get a flight, come drive Lakeside. I beleive I can Savman. And Rex is super quick! I reckon I'll be right in the rain, but if it's dry, that thing has some serious pace! 380hp and about 1100kg will do that
  5. Alright, Roy wants some pics of where his wheels are doing duty now.... I didn't know of a better place to put them guys sorry! This is my 32 gts-t in progress for tarmac rallies. They have recently become elligible for the late classic classification competition, and I'm hoping to be able to take the fight up to the RS Porsches and RX7's. I purchased the car from Melbourne, it was imported under the 15 year rule, and set up for the previous owner by Jimmy Richards. It's pretty basic, really just cage and associated safety gear, suspension, 32 GTR brakes and exhaust. I've since added a power fc, boost control, new exhaust and a few other bits and pieces. I have a bunch of other stuff to go on, from HICAS remval kit to GTR wing because apparently it's a measurable improvement. We're not allowed to go crazy with mods, but having a strong car that looks after its tyres and can be flogged mercilessly for 6 days is the aim. Hopefully this car gets to that level 33GTR brakes and 2-piece rotors, Ferodo 3000 pads all round. I like plenty of brakes Note Roy's wheels all grubby n sh*t just to annoy him. As it looks now; Other side; Inside; Inside again; New 3' system (rules now allow free exhaust after turbo, did have a nice 2 1/2" system on it in stainless if anyone needs one?; Nothin crazy in here, although I was really pleased with the improvemnt after adding the tower shock; Lakeside; With my friends beautiful XT GT Group Nc car; I really enjoy my racing;
  6. Baron... profit is not a dirty word is it? lol
  7. Snowy will be fine Roy. Jason and I started (and healthily, still do) out fearing for our lives. Of course silly things can happen to anyone, but a cool head and self preservation usually prevail. re pics, uploading some to the Show me your Racing Machines thread Edit: James will be runnin so much peak he won't even consider gettin sick I can tell you lol
  8. **puke** Do you always think of me when you're in the spa Benno? Fkn Taswegians....... wierd I say.....
  9. Well done Snowball, you'll be accepted in a heartbeat! Accomodation suggestions (where I stay) Targa Rookie; During recce and up to morning of day 2 - The Olde Tudor Motor Inn (closest to Silverdome) Night of day 2 into Hobart, Hotel 429 (across road from casino) Wrest Point; Again, Hotel 429 unless you're particularly monied and stay at the casino.
  10. lol.. yeah talk it up Harry! haha
  11. Yeah they look good mate, will be watching with interest (and swapping them onto mine to try while you're feeding your face ). Re next weekend, all is looking reasonably ok so far. I've plain run out of time to do everything myself, so will be dragging it to the workshop to get all the mods done. Injectors, Surge tank/ext pump etc, tune... although I'm worried about the new X-force exhaust system I've just fitted..... seems too loud. I might drill a bunch of holes in that removable silencer thingy just in case.....
  12. No good to hear Noel, no good I was privvy, no I was not driving or was it my car, to a clutch explosion (not JB) very recently in a 34 GTR which ended in a similar tradgedy for the bellhousing. Do you by any chance think the failure could be put down a previous over-rev of the engine? I only ask because after asking lots of question to lots of experts, an over-rev that occured within 500 klm prior to the event was blamed. The car I speak of had a "to first" instead of "to third" monent
  13. Yes, that says it very succintly... well done again Snowflake.
  14. lol! I don't know! No doubt Stu will chime in here.... Maybe an Evo/GTR etc with carbon panels, hich mount and 400+ AWKW? Age isn't neccesarliy the barrier for experience though, look at Targa west this year.... and there's ALWAYS plenty of us older guys punting all sorts of cars off EVERY event, it's part of the game I guess.
  15. Re-read my post and you'll see I'm saying that I think if there's to be an "open" category, regardless of whether you can obtain finishing classification or not, the more experienced rally punters should be given the go ahead in super quick cars, not new bloods. Organisers should be wanting younger people entering, and aiming for cheaper costs, but imo, letting them into the "open" only IF their car isn't crazy quick and trouble....
  16. I hadn't seen those before now Harry? Have you had any experience with them? They look pretty sporty! And thats good info re DOT marking, I didn't know that either.
  17. I haven't competed in it or seen it, but tend to agree with you there Ben. Speaking to Gus, he was saying he was freaquently pulling 6th around V V Long R6's, then to be slowed down by chicanes etc to keep the average speed down. To me, it's not really within the ideals of the sport, and sounds pretty bloody dangerous to me.
  18. Experience in general really. I know lots of SAU guys have had lots of track time at sprints etc, I'm just thinking that the organisers should be treading very carefully with these modded cars. It's usually younger less experienced guys who own the wildly modded cars, and I for one just don't want to see a shit-storm if there's a couple of big accos. Please don't think I'm downplaying the skills required to pilot mega-grunt GTR's etc.... it's just that rallying can be very very dangerous. Compound it with an inherently unstable/overpowered car, and you get the drift. Up until a couple of years ago, for Tugga Tas at least, we needed to have an International Rally licence, which required you to actually show that you could handle a car, and had the right attitude. Trying to lower the costs has seen a reduction in the licencing level needed to compete which is no bad thing on it's own, but leaves a few questions unanswered re the skill of the crew. Typically, the organisers will look at the previous motorsport history of a crew's application before granting a place, but I can't help think that rather than allowing typically less experienced crews into potentially even faster vehicles, they might be better served in actually stiffening up the crew requirements for the "weapon" cars? I'm really just thinking out loud here, and welcome your guy's thoughts who have these weapons to chime in....... On the flip side, I see true benefits in relaxing the rules a little to allow some fresh blood into the sport, bringing with those rules guys that would love to bring their modified S13 or whatever and go for a good skid. I just don't reckon one with 500hp is the place to start.
  19. totally agree on heat soak there mate...
  20. Yes call CAMS. I know a few guys that run 2nd hand Nascar suits without dramas.
  21. Yeh by all accouints WA is a very fast rally, with lots of chicanes etc to get down to the FIA average. I'm with you, looked at those vids and thought, shit, that's very quick through there.... The two Walken rallies (Tarmac challenge and Rally Tas) are CAMS. Suncoast Rally is if it ever has another one, Classic Adelaide, Tugga West.... there's a few! I wasn't aware McNeally's Buller etc had gone AASA, maybe I just drink too much.
  22. Can vouch for those ARC coolers being super-duper light! I had one on my 32 and it was a little over HALF the weight of a stock one, but was 120mm thick! It was so light I always thought it was made from some ridiculous unattainable alloy. I thieved it out of an import so had no ARC specs on the thing.
  23. Don't bet against your ability to overcome ANY of those obstacles Roy! I would suggest to anyone interested that they will not be allowing inexperienced crews into wildly modified vehicles..... that would be asking for big-time trouble.
  24. Sweet ride Baron! A friend of mine has one very similar on boat now
