  1. A little wrong on that last bit, Voltage does matter, keep in mind theres is a relationship between Volts, Amps and Watts. A deficiency in one will mean the others need adjustment to maintain the same result. So yes, amperage is watt (hah i made a funny) matters, but the others come into play in making that amperage possible. From experience i can tell you that 14v is not too much. I kept my car in storage for quite some time, and would regularly have issues starting it up if i left it too long. Being left it wouldnt always catch first go, and if repeat goes dropped the voltage below 12.5 minimum, it wouldnt start up no matter what i did. Leave it 15 mins and try again. No problems.
  2. new one up on flickr for you ogz. sorry for the delay guys... weeks been mental. getting stuff done now tho
  3. Thanks to everyone who pitched up, both for photo's and those who just wanted to spectate and or cruise. I learnt a thing or two both about cruise organising and photography, so i'd call it a sucess in my books. Hopefully enough people agree that it will be worth organising another in the not too distant future. As some of you might be aware, we had a visit from Jerry of Fast4's while we were at palmie asking us to submit some photo's. Can i assume that everyone who had a pic taken is ok with that? It does mean that you wont get access to the good shots until after puiblication, but after that you'll be able to see your car in a magazine and have a full quality digital image to back it up.
  4. No, they were busy appreciating some of the NS/HT boys cars. Even spotted a copper-chopper circling around too. Looks like we have two wrap up threads going. Any chance we can get a title change to Homebush and Palmie so we can just comment in one spot?? Great looking photo's there, i really wish i'd made it into p1. I'm working on processing the ones i took and i'll post a few up asap. As an aside, anyone else get a visit from Jerry from fast4's asking for pics? the palmis shoot did.
  5. trickle chargers are nice too if you cant be arsed driving around just to charge things.
  6. if i recall you need atleast 12-14 volts to start the car, and you proably need to maintain that 12-14 for a few seconds, you might have enough to run the alarm, but thats still not enough to sustain the starter and ignition for the duration required.
  7. Thanks for the good feed back Sloane. Unfortunately i cant take any credit for the homebush end of things, it was primarily a NS and HT organised event, i just linked the SAU photoshoot cruise to it as a final destination. More ashamedly, i didnt actually make it the the Homebush end of things, we got within a few hundred metres but had a close call with the unmarked cop cars outside. So the few of us left from the Palmie shoot moved on to a nearby industrial area and had a small one car shoot. Looks like you guys had a great turn out though, and i think this is definately something worth doing again. I'm going to go off and work out what i can improve for the next one i organise. Any feed back or suggestions are more than welcome.
  8. Thanks to all those who replied to let me know your coming. look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Dont worry if the weathers not the greatest, clouds and puddles can add to a shot. just bring a shammie and it will be all good.
  9. Nikon D300 Lightroom - same as Zennon, but i'll add its good for managing your pictures, not just converting. Photomatix - same reason as Zennon. Photoshop CS4 - Masking etc Imagenomic Noiseware - cleaning up noise form the hdr process Topaz suite - for sharpening details, making colours pop etc. I make no secrets, i'm a shameless rip off of stuck in customs when it comes to choice of tools and methods.
  10. Noticed i've left some details out so here is the whole lot. Start: 6pm Where: Ocean Rd Carpark Palm Beach What: Photo's until 7ish Then: cruise to old hill link homebush (i'll be taking pics from the passenger seat of my car) to meet up with the NS/HT photoshoot (starts at 8pm). End: Sometime after 8pm, whenever people feel like heading off. Bring: If you like taking pics, your camera. Also as per stand cruise conveniences, if you have a cb, bring it along as they can be convenient when on the move. So far i've had a heads up from the following Aggroman - homebush Blitz pbk1776 GTR32G Goldzilla - Maybe - Homebush FST513 - Photographer God Speed Cassbo - Palmie only Not sure if any of the above are planning to bring friends, but with the above numbers more isnt a problem.
  11. we could photochop them on later ;P
  12. replacing coil packs is a relatively painless job you can do yourself. So order them and some sparkies and do it one evening at home. As for driving, if you drive smoothly and with fore thought its really easy to drive off boost and have no problems maintaining speed/acceleration. Its kinder on your brakes too. Anyone who says you need to use boost all the time to drive at an ok speed is doing it wrong. So take it easy, drive smooth and stay off boost when possible and order yourself some sparkies and new coils. you'll be sorted in no time.
  13. Cheers mate, much appreicated. Trust me, i've always seen revving, burnouts and blasting stereo's as "whos got a bigger dick" contests initiated by people who'd normally lose in an anatomical comparison anyway, so you shouldnt get any grief from us. I'm more interested in getting great pics of great cars. As for numbers, i've pm'd everyone who's responded to get you an idea.... thats about 10 ppl, If anyone else is reading this... post up if your coming. Do you want to let your mob know that we're goiing to start things off with an earlier shoot in palmie and anyone who wants some shots by the water are welcome. So plan from an sau point of view is Start : Palmie at 6pm Photo's and meet n greet. Then Cruise to Homebush to meet up wuth the NS/HT photoshoot which starts at 8pm. I'm thinking that we can go down mona vale road all the way down into concord then on to homebush with minimal hassles, should give me plenty of time to get pics of cars in motion aswell (althought thats going to be tough)
  14. posted a few more pics into the gallery i mentioned earlier. nothing too special, but more on the way soon.
  15. Ok I'm not adverse to joining up with them at homebush, looks like they have a free carpark with plenty of room. If we're going to join them, can someone send the organisesers word and let them know. Also feel free to invite them to the palmie meet up. we can take some shots there then cruise down together. Jez, having some closer than normal access to a refinary setting would be awesome, but i'd imagine not easy to organise. So if it can be done that would be great, we could swing by on the way to homebush. Can i just do a quick roll call of all who still intend on coming, i know people have mentioned it above, but i want to get a solid idea before its too late.
  16. nice... like the black arx with the tan... might show him that one. Red350 RX4 is nice too... oh and the bathurst... but only if you throw it in as a freebie Heh Andy my mind must be playing tricks on me. i could have sworn you had v35 premium seats in yours. oh well... no biggylooks like the current offerings are pretty nice.
  17. bloody forum chewed my post. Ok i havent forgotten about this, but i apologise for the lack of update, works been a bitch. Start time. sun set is at 1845 it seems, so i'm calling 1800 for start time, gives me some time to use whatever light is left and for people to rock up and pose their cars. As for destination. I agree... city doesnt look good, i've looked at places with nice lights, easy access and plenty of room to fit cars and move them around to pose them, and the city fails in all counts. I did a shoot at P1 in homebush on friday and got some nice pics there despite being your typical cliched carpart local, so i'm happy to be flexible. I'm thinking of someplace outdoorsy with lots of lights around, a nice flat open area would be nice, big car park, well lit building site, a road past an oil refinary etc all sound good to me.The weather looks like its going to be showers and crap, but i dont mind getting wet and maybe the puddles and clouds will give some more reflections to play with. Anyone know of any good spots like the above?? i know there are some nice refinary type lights out carlingford/parra way but i dont want us all to look like a bunch of street racers cruising into an industrial estate.
  18. bah i'm getting myself ass end up again i tihnk... ok so let me get this straight, the seats above are from the 04 to 06 axis/axis s? but the vq25det importing stopped at 03?? according to the m35 info sticky theres no compliancing for the vq35's yet is that still right??
  19. I've had a bit of a search but as usual i'm impatient. Long story short, the Mrs's dad wants a new car, he's thinking of a c200 mer station wagon, i'm trying to convince him to go a stag (mercs are nice and all, but you pay alot for a name). Problem is it needs to meet atleast a certain mark on the luxury specs. I noticed on the 350 cruise last friday that someones ( i think it was yours Andy) had the same leather/suede seats as my 350gt premium has in it. I cant seem to find any pics of any other stags with this tho so i dont know if its a factory option. Can anyone advise? Ideally i want to suggest an M35 with a 25det 4wd and all luxury bells and whistles. Auto is preferred i think.
  20. Not meaning to be a bastard... but you did get a full mech inspection before purchasing didnt you??
  21. as promised... here is a tiny tiny hint of whats to come. below is a link to the flickr set I'll be adding the pics to as i sort them out. It only has one in there at the moment, and that shouldn't be considered a finished shot for a few reasons... one listed below. http://www.flickr.com/photos/justplainnift...57623451095769/ I've noticed that the water drops on the black cars plays merry hell with the hdr process, so this will require some touching up. note to self for future... bring a shammie.
  22. Hey all, great meeting you all on friday. Got plenty of pics, i've had a quick look through and their are a fair few nice ones. I havent had a chance to really sort them out yet, but i might throw some easy ones up later today.
  23. Yeah i've had good dealings with nagoya in the past too, mainly D'mitry. He's even given me advice that resulted in him getting a lower profit margin. Like Daleo says, give them a call and play nice to start with. Give them a chance to handle it properly. If they seem hesitant, mention that replacement is required under the 3 month stat warranty. If they decide to be a complete **** about it then tell them you'll take the complaint higher up and you'll feel obliged to mention the sub standard compliancing performed while your at it. But as mentioned above, Nagoya seem to do a pretty good job of dealing fairly with their customers. Give them a chance to continue that.
  24. I've been using falkens for years, 451's first, now 452's. They great tyres from new til death. couldnt recommend them more.
  25. Havent paid much attention to the thread, i dont have much tiime here at work to read it all. I'm bringing my camera equipment with me, we'll see how we go. Anyone want to fill me in on the final plan for the night.... meet at P1 at 7... then what??
