  1. If your asking if you can still claim the $1k even if you dont fix the car but sell for $1k less... then yes you'd offset the repair cost for the buyer out of your own pocket, you just have to show that you would have been able to get the full price if undamaged. like showing you sold for $1k less than the value of cars in similar undamaged condition. If you mean claim the $1k for the damage, then more again for the loss of value on the car, then no... thats making a profit. All of the above said... IANAL.
  2. for cruising through traffic yes its a perk, for fine car control, not so good. even in triptronic mode the car shifts when it wants to, it just waits for you to tell it when to start thinking about it. no shift lock, no heel toe or rev on change to effect weight shift.... its not all good news. that said... its comfy, it has grunt, and people keep trying to figure out what the hell it is cos i've got no badges... so its kinda cool
  3. Quick answer, if its anything like NSW you'll need to get an emissions test and an engineers cert to show that your car doesnt break the emissions laws and that the mods dont lessen the structual integity of the vehicle. After that you might just be able to drive around with no worries and the certificate will get you out of any defects. but it sounds like u guys have mod plates or something.... so i'd say call the engineer and ask him. In all likely hood its hs work that will get you the plates.
  4. Ahhh so it was today?? In that case it would ave been the Mrs heading home from the lab. Yeah i had no idea bout the accident, but i just rang her and asked her... sounds pretty full on. She said ot seemed like the truck almost managed to flip the trailer. Well welcome to sydney, you've been pretty lucky spotting a 35 down south, theres only about 4 or so that i know of who pop up from time to time, and i'm not sure if any of them are members here. yeah the car used to belong to an importer down this way. He bought it in with bugger all Km's and i picked it up of him about 6 months ago with about 17k km on it. 2006 model too. Only down side is its auto.
  5. That would be me Believe it or not, the tail lights are stock JDM... gotta love Series 3's What were you driving, i've spotted the odd 35 around down south, but dont know who's who.
  6. take a wheel off... or just the steering wheel. pain in the ass but it makes the car a bitch to drive. maybe find a way of locking the throttle body in place (havent looked at mine in a bit... wonder if a padlock somewhere could make it a sod to deal with). All in all... if they want the contents.. they'll get it... but if you make it an arse to move they probably wont bother unless its worth a flatbed truck.
  7. Spotted a white 33 being booked by the po po heading north on Southern Cross drive just after the airport Also a few V35's rolling around the sylvania/chronulla area. Funnily enough no one as yet has spotted by feck-off-red v35
  8. Nice work... Now do the version thats on the Series 3 so i can have mine done
  9. can i get a picture of the top where the rubber mounts are to secure the top against the bar?
  10. if you still have this after the new year i'll take it. i have a holiday and stuff i have to do first but if its here when i get back consider it sold.
  11. Think the old thread for this got lost, or the mods didnt like what i said about TSI. My experience was overall good, Gary and his crew were nice up front and communicative. Despite having a full time on site mechanic, sometimes some pretty major problems can slip through (i experienced one of them). Once this was discovered however Gary had no problems or complaints about refunding my deposit, apologised for the hassle and offered to help me keep looking. To be honest if i didnt find an almost perfect car elsewhere that arvo i would have gone back. So yeah, great to deal with and they dont mind you hassling them. Just get a second opinion for any mechanical or electrical inspection you get done.
  12. Heres Some pics. Also i need to make a correction, so here it is in caps so it stands out. I MADE A MISTAKE ALL 4 RIMS ARE 17x8, not 2 17x8 and 2 17x9. As these rims came with the car i never really checked and i was at work when i put the ad up. Now the pics.
  13. I have 4 HR109 17" rims - for those who dont know them they're Advan Model 5 copies. I believe their 17x8 and 17.9. These rims are well worn and have rash but could be good for someone who needs a spare set of rims to throw some spare rubber on for a drift day or similar. All for going for $150 all up in sydney pickup only. PM me or call Me (Simon) on 0404003311
  14. long answer short. it'll just sound different. Gases are hottest take up more volume and flow faster at the turbo exit, so the dump, front and cat are the exhaust sections that make the biggest impact. Best approach would be exhaust (dump, front high flow cat) and if possible and ECU upgrade of some type. With that your only concern really is heat. And to be honest most people stay off boost on 40 deg days anyway. See if u can get a vipec or a apexi PFC in your budget (you might be looking at 2 grand or so for the ECU and exhaust combined). quick edit, is a cat back worth $200?? well thats for you to answer, i wont increase performance but it will look and sound different. Is a different look and sound worth $200 to you??
  15. Hi All, As above, i have a black 2001 Auto Saab 9-3 convertible for sale and maybe an R33 GTST, or both for swaps... read on. stock 2ltr turbo, Leather interior power windows cruise control CD/radio with controls on the steering wheel. 90k km or so i think (i'm at work its at home so i cant check,i can clarify/confirm later for anyone interested). No major accident history. If it were an import i'd grade it 4b ish No dents but a few minor scratches down the left hand side. 12 months rego. $14k negotiable Pics to come when i get home. Contact me via PM or call me (Simon) on 0404003311. As for the r33, not totally set on selling it, but i'm pondering it. As the only mechanic i have access to right now wants it back to stock to give it a rwc, i have to either return it to stock or engineer it. Both of these keep falling off my priorities list and is planned for next year at the earliest, so i'm considering parting with it instead. 93 R33 GTS25T Super Rare gun mental grey Brand new set of 18" Bronze Work CR Kai's wrapped in brand new falken 452's the wheels and tyres have only been driven 10km's from the tyre place to home (thats $3.5k of kit right there). Apexi PFC with controller (heard they dont make them any more) DBA Slotted front rotors Adjustable rear control arms. Eboost 1 EBC 3 inch turbo back exhaust (custom) K&N Pod in Carbon fibre CAP Custom Carbon fibre boot floor (not totally set on parting with that, but more on that later) 6000k low beam and 8000k high beam HIDS rigged with the dual headlight mod (lowbeams stay on when highbeam is selected). NO REGO and needs all the slips. This is a perfectly functional car, that could be road worthied in a flash by anyone who's willing to put in the time or knows a mech who doesnt care about a 3inch exhaust. I have no idea what to ask for for this so i'm going to say $10k negotiable just so i meet the forum rules. BUT!!!! i'm willing to swap both cars for a GTR. might be a big ask, but its worth a short. PM me for more info pics etc etc
  16. --edited-- what i was asking was already clarified

Its pretty easy for me to find work in aus, language skills aside, is it similar in japan?
