^ i think we have a loyal JB customer here ^ im on the same page mate!
-
thanks - im driving it with the rev limit set @ 5000rpm i can honestly say though it feels very strong in midrange delivery even on 10psi, the -10's start spooling quite hard around 3000rpm (that extra 400cc has made a massive impact on turbo response) they seem to come on earlier than my gtss setup on the rb26

^ just get a silver or black 35 & be done with it

hey nick - i had greg @ proengines build the long engine & i did the r&r (with workshop manual & correct torque settings) that was fun although i must admit im nowhere near as fearful of the car though, the advantage of doing it yourself is taking the time & checking over everything, washing all the bits with a toothbrush someone else i forgot to thank: Craved Coatings (Chris) for the top covers, intake paint & plenum powder coating

you hear good & bad with all clutches, however, based on pauls 470awkw drag car & 3 yrs of abuse it held up fine - apparently it is still 'alive' in his mates street car if u drove a JB clutch u would be surprised, ive had an os giken triple & exedy twin which were both terrible (handbrake starts on hills in heavy traffic etc, you know the stuff that gets your heart pumping) in fact i smashed 3rd gear in my other gtr which i think that triple plate was the root cause
-
good idea paul - there is nothing worse than driving in circles to get the km's up u got some of that coopers red chilled
-
point taken - there are many ways to skin a cat fact is that everyone has good/bad stories to share on all tuners (regardless of experience) its the classic ford v's holden debate, although they both suck lol

Hi All, I've had a few members ask me about the progress on my rb26/30 build for my R32GTR so i thought i'd add this thread. I started my research back in late 08, got the ball rolling in feb 09 & after 4 months i have reached my destination with 350km on the clock. As they say, good things come to those who wait (i hope). Here are my specs: 'NISSAN' rb30 block (note the word 'NISSAN' not holden or forklift hehe) RB26 head porting by ProEngines (over 10 hours) match ported exhaust manifolds by ProEngines Garrett low mount -10's (combined rating @ 920hp) RIPS custom sump (extended with baffles) RIPS diff adapter plate RIPS oil pick up RIPS inspired modified catch can (return to sump) JUN crank collar ACL race bearing set Cometic head gasket Mahle piston & ring set Argo rods Camtech/Kelford billet cams (a bit of NZ flavour) Performance valve springs (a bit of Aust flavour) ARP main/head studs N1 oil/water pump HKS intercooler (120mm?) Sard fpr Bosch 044 lift pump with 2 external Bosch 044's & surge tank PFI dual entry fuel rail (to accommodate larger 14mm entry injectors) Delphi Rochester 1000cc injectors Ross Metal Jacket harmonic balancer OS Giken cam gears Jim Berry 4000lbs race clutch (good timing whilst the engine was out, twin & triple plate was doing my head in) Nismo engine/gearbox mount kit (good timing whilst the engine was out) Blue silicone heater/intercooler/radiator hose kit (good timing whilst the engine was out) 52mm dual core alloy radiator Power FC My run-in tune results came to 270.9awkw @ 6500rpm on 10psi (cams are still set @ 0). My goal was to crack over 400awkw with strong midrange delivery, after i do my run-in km's with higher rev limit, boost & set cams im sure this will be achievable i am also contemplating with running E85, my tuner suggested "lets see what we get with 98 then make a decision" Just a quick thanks for the following people who put me in the right direction & put up with my indecisive 'qualities': RIPS (Rob Ward) ProEngines (Greg) Dirtgarage (Paul) N1GTR (Steve) CRD (Andrew & Jim) maybe i've left a few others out...in fact, i bet i have regards, Marko.

i also think it comes down to experience as paul suggested - i never had starting issues with crd's tuning
-
yes i had my car tuned before with another 2 tuners who took 3 days each - that was a disaster...my current tuner gets it done whilst you wait each to their own
-
350rwKW on 10PSi is a great result! what was the rev limit set at to achieve this? reason i ask, i made 271kw at all 4's on my new rb26/30 at 6500rpm on 10psi run-in tune, cams still at 0degrees
-
problem fixed without modding the engine mounts, i grinded off the boss for the 'twin turbo' badge on the hard pipe, now has 10mm clearance now the hard pipe will be back at craved coatings for a recoat. i didnt want the hassle of my rips sump clearing the cross member by modding the mounts, i was advised not to do this by crd and rips so i guess im not breaking any rules

good point gary

where did u get the bonnet done & how much? is the bulge alloy welded?
-
any links to the bonnet bulge u are talking about?

Have A Look At These 40psi Limiter Bashing Monsters
Marko R1 replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i remember the bandag bullet from the 80's - used to be parked on woodville rd (fairfield) -
i wish there was a slimline bonnet scoop on the market - made of carbon & only about 1 inch in height
-
^ this is true ^ another reason not to touch the mounts im thinking maybe i get a small custom bulge to give it more room, any recommendations or is this a dumb idea being an alloy bonnet? how about a sleek bonnet scoop - do these exist for the r32gtr?
-
hi guys, im after a 'working' throttle position sensor for my r32gtr - dont matter if its off an r33 or r34 (all the same) im located in sydney if it helps thanks in advance! marko 0404 884 876
-
fire up nick - im the same, cant handle being ripped off gets under my skin!

Quickest Lowmount Turbo'd Gtr In The World...
Marko R1 replied to NXTIME's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
paul - this brings back memories for me back about 6yrs ago, my mate has the security contract for autosalon 'premier protection agency' & i was watching over the hks gtr over night - what a night, kinda like scoring with the hottest chick in a nightclub -
i was told not to slot the engine mounts as well, geometry of cv's etc will be out! what is touching is the intake hard pipe which has the 'twin turbo' badge on it above the low mount turbo's - i might just need to take off the twin turbo badge & ground off the boss it sits on...i was hoping a carbon bonnet would give better clearance but i think i better stick with the factory bonnet
-
hi guys, ive had to cut the underside bracing on my factory gtr bonnet to accomodate for my new rb26/30, it just fits luckily enough im thinking about getting an aftermarket carbon bonnet which has more clearance or those large vents to allow a better fit...does anyone have experience with a particular aftermarket bonnet which gives good clearance for the extra 38mm? i was also thinking of spacing the rear of the bonnet which would help with engine bay heat but i dont really like that look (reminds me of the A9X Torana from the 80's) thanks, marko
-
i have the same injectors as above - tuned by crd with no probs at all low impedence type
-
u were right sydneykid - its amazing how tight u can go with these fittings, i could actually feel the copper washers working & doing their job
