  1. when i spoke to malcolm from camtech about my cams, he recommended that i go via 'performance springs' for valve springs he stated that these springs are best for the gtr - interesting feedback considering camtech actually sell their own springs as well
  2. im not sure about the part but i can find out if u like. retainers & valve guides were good on my head as it was a virgin & didnt do many kms so there there no need to change them over i had an extensive head port done by proengines.com.au, i'd recommend u speak to greg although he is not back till next week...very helpful & likes to chat once u build rapore with him
  3. i stuck with the local stuff mate - too good to pass that price point when comparing to jap stuff
  4. my clutch has the same 4400lbs pressure plate but i havent tried it as yet - i did speak to jim direct about this & he said it will be heavier in feel than the stock clutch but it is very driveable & much better than my previous twin plate & triple plate
  5. i had the 10.8's fitted with no trouble at all (only required some head machining to clear the cam lobes) & valve springs were fitted to match. what info were u after as im happy to help no secrets here
  6. beer baron - his name is "ella re FATEEE" hahaha
  7. yeah ur car looks more FATEEE nick!
  8. where is the hdi factory based in sydney?
  9. thanks steve - you're a legend for finding this this answers my question that silicone joiners will work if long enough - perfect info
  10. the good old BUSA! animal bike. i'll keep in touch
  11. well put. i think half the problem is most of us are brand loyal and im definitely not...another 1 of my examples was that i changed my bike from an r1 to zx10r then gsxr1000. all my mates thought wtf!?
  12. my times were consistent low 40's with a recorded 1:39 and pb 1:37, this was on street tyres but the bike had 180hp and only 170kg, massive power to weight advantage. put it this way, aust superbikes which are 200k worth of r&d pull mid 30's congrats on your lap times, ive always admired gtr's and these times confirm my choice of car when my 700+hp 32 is run in ill take it to EC, pm me when u head out as id like to come out
  13. i showed 1 of my mates who has raced in the targa tasmania & quotes: "That looked like an easy run… a bit more pushing and a little less braking will put down some impressive numbers" this means you can potentially run a high 30 - that is ridiculously quick
  14. after watching that clip, it amazes me that you're getting mid 40's yet the straight line speed & turn 1 is not that high, compared to a bike. i.e. my bike would hit 280+km on the straight & over 200+km in turn 1...bike has a huge advantage power/weight. cars obviously carry much more corner speed running 4 wheels & much more surface area, my point is that you could make up a lot of time in turn 1 (i.e. there is a difference of 30km here alone) & absolutely smash your lap times i wonder if 30's would be on the horizon for the r35? i gotta get an r35 (& keep my r32gtr at the same time)
  15. that sounds like a sales ploy to me - the guy you know is working on achieving his fiscal year target haha i might be wrong although im also in sales (not cars)
  16. i was in the same boat choosing a harmonic balancer a few weeks back, some ppl here dont like ross yet www.ripsracing.com use these on all of their street and drag engines including their drag 1300hp donks, that confirmed my decision. fyi, rips build and ship engine packages all over the world. i think the above mentioned failure was a factory fault...for example, my dad bought a torana ss 5.0ltr and it spun a bottom end bearing after a few yrs. do we draw from this incident that all toranas are unreliable? no smart ass comments
  17. horses for courses. like choosing a harmonic balancer, some ppl here dont like ross yet proengines and hi octane recommend these. rips racing use these on their 1300hp donks which most here would only dream of achieving
  18. if this is the case can u think of keywords to search for sydneykids thread relating to this?
  19. i checked out ebay - nothing there. i spoke to horsepowerinabox.com.au today, they dont make manifolds for the gtr. i still think i should stick with the stock manifolds - can anyone advise if the above graph results can be improved with an extrude hone on the exhaust manifolds or am i chasing my tail for sfa gain?
  20. hi guys, as the title states im looking for a set of aftermarket exhaust manifolds to suit my gtr. i want japanese manifolds or anything else which is good quality i live in sydney if this helps thanks, marko 0404 884 876
  21. beer baron - if i had a set of aftermarket tubes & they have been fine i'd stick with them! my stock items have been port matched & now i need to find someone who can extrude hone them, i spoke to john from UAS who no longer offers this service...is there anyone out there who can point me in the right direction for extrude honing? if it helps, i live in sydney
  22. this thread is a very good read (8 month thread resurrection) - i was searching for 'stock matched vs aftermarket' & this answers my question im at the juncture where i need decide on which way to go & it seems that port matched/extrude honed stock manifolds is the answer for my new setup... if its good enough for Mark Berry's racecar & the others on this thread (BoostR, dirtgarage etc) well that is good enough for me there would be nothing worse than cracking a set of expensive tubes (although probably not as common as i think) THEN having to replace whilst in the engine bay
  23. that is farken quick, 1:45 - i wonder what times i'd get with my 32...almost ready to go with over 400awkw
  24. R32 Stuart, u quoted my above post with no response
