  1. this is right as i went thru the same confusion when i bought my -10's here is an email from gcg: "Going by Garrett's designation system, these are technically GT2871R Turbochargers. The only reason we still stick to calling them "GT2860R -10 Versions" is that there would be too much confusion between these and the SR20DET bolt on GT2871RS." -5s support 360hp: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_707160_5.htm -7s support 310hp: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_707160_7.htm -9s support 360hp: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_739548_9.htm -10s support 460hp: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...R_707160_10.htm
  2. price up a set of factory turbo's via nissan as mine packed it in at the time - u will understand that aftermarket gear is cheaper this is what the tax office want to see, legible repairs anyway - slightly off topic
  3. i think i need to forward plan my r35 purchase, at least i wont feel the temptation to modify for at least a few yrs
  4. i sent you a pm fatz - dominator sound reputable
  5. paul - u know i think your work is fantastic & i'd recommend u to anyone (your knowledge is better than most workshops) BUT at the end of the day i do need a legally binging receipt, in my last farkk up with 2 repairers i went to the fair trading commission (with MVRIA) had my receipts and evidence hence won and had no problem with getting my money returned. I do not want to go through the same bulllshiiiiit hence why this time I will go to a 'highly recommended' workshop even if it means spending a little more that can offer a legally binding receipt, insurance and warranty. If you had an ABN and business you would be my first choice. Simple. Unfortunately i dont feel comfortable spending thousands without a legally binding guarantee...not trying to be offensive at please dont take it that way - you know your shiit your awesome with your skill and knowledge however i dont feel comfortable.
  6. let me explain - my previous gtr i spent over 15k in mods & i got back 1/2 of that from the tax office, how, well...i drove that car for business purposes
  7. fair enough paul more so to write it off as a tax deduction mate, i definitely trust u thats 4 sure :-)
  8. 'mr shirtman' wtf!? paul, if u can provide me a receipt for TAX (and warranty) purposes i'd "consider" it hehe ive always had a softspot for the former 'dirtgarage' :-)
  9. yes ive heard nothing but good things about unigrp. ive been a loyal 'crd' customer for 5yrs...hmmm, should i jump the fence i think they are on par these days
  10. rob at rips is building my diff plate and sump kit so that may be a good option james @ nisspeed also sounds good i think i need an rb30 specialist as other small mods are required i.e. relocating timing tensioner, head studs tapped
  11. hi guys, ive been searching for an engine builder as i now have all the bits needed to get started on my rb26/30 - i 'almost' made the wrong decision so i think its better that i gain other peoples feedback before i commit, i had a look on the forum & its been a few years since anyone has asked this question. i dont want to pay through my nose for this as well regards marko
  12. i agree as most of the failings occur due to the lack of crank surface area with the oil pump (this is what i have been told by a few mechanics) i have my jun oil crank collar which probably has about 15mm depth - i compare this to the key depth on the standard crank which is only half of that...i wonder how nissan underengineered this at the time
  13. so what is the general consensus with cams, i.e. if we compare tomei 260's/9.15mm to tomei 270's/10.5mm: what would be the difference in peak power approx? im guessing the 260's will provide better midrange? bang for buck?
  14. im looking at either harris engines (revesby) OR st marys engines (st marys) im leaning towards st marys engines, good work & very competitively priced...who were u looking at? i need warranty & receipt for tax purposes
  15. yep - he builds engines for all applications (predominantly drag) & other makes as well (hemi, chev, nissan etc)
  16. i did talk to my engine builder & he suggested that i confirm what he believes which is that i would need only the cams, springs & retainers if i go with approx 270degree cams what are my options if i stick with the same base circle. my findings was that only tomei offer the same BC? interesting about tomei poncams - yrs ago when i had my aust delivered gtr with poncams (260) & gtrs kit it made 362awkw @ 22psi, the new owner fitted bigger cams & cracked 430awkw @ 28psi
  17. can anyone confirm this? if this is the case where i need buckets/lifters for anything over 9.15mm im looking at approx. 2k+ in parts for my head (cams, springs, retainers, buckets, lifters) maybe i should stick with tomei type b poncams - then the question is "will this get me to 400awkw with head porting?"
  18. hi guys, i will be running garrett -10's for my new rb26/30 build & have been researching cams & what would be best...after talking to a few guys in the 'know how' the recommendation has been 270-272degree with 10.5mm lift (IN/EX) some have also stated tomei poncams are good for my application BUT i dont want to fall short of my goal @ 400+awkw due to wrong cam choice i was told to stick with the tomei range as they carry the same base circle as stock cams, is this the case as i want to get away with just cams & springs (my engine builder stated this is the way to go) ...besides, tomei seems to be significantly cheaper than hks or jun regards marko
  19. aide bre dennis! btw im at a wedding slightly intoxicated :-)
  20. im going 2 stick with my -10s, im splitting hairs here and with the above results from dirtgarage im on the right page. besides, if i get pulled up i can say 'yes officer, my car is standard'
  21. what size rear housing on the t04z paul?
  22. that last graph u have posted with the 522kw, does that represent the -10s? yeah i spoke to willall on friday (matthew?) & he strongly prefers the -10s
  23. this is a beautiful gtr - i ran an 11.1sec with 5kw less than what u have here just to give others a better idea of your cars capability dart has always been my choice of mechanic
  24. i priced up a set of jun springs or tomei ane they're $650 - these local springs are half the price!
  25. how do these springs compare to the likes of japanese brands, i.e. tomei? ...Mr 'N1GTR' - can u send the link of these cosworth springs u mentioned in this thread?
