  1. is E85 here to stay? i'll be getting my car tuned in the next mth or so & i wouldn't mind trying this out after reading these results - i personally dont care about fuel economy & i think u should be driving a smart car if the extra money is a problem national there are only 2 servo's? rozelle is around the corner from where i live which is great!
  2. much the same to be honest, to put this into perspective i had a gtr with gtrs turbos and type b cams which made 348kw. these cams made 325kw with gtss turbos. gtrs turbos make 400hp each turbo and gtss make 320hp each turbo.
  3. that is right. 32, 33 and 34 have the same head
  4. what additional pulleys can be bought or is that included in the cost?
  5. hi guys, i have a set of rb26 con rods for sale (as pictured)! - age: 80,000km - why selling: i am building an rb30, therefore different length required - location: sydney (interstate is fine) - price: $200 these are good for a forged rb26 build as they will support 400awkw OR a good upgrade for an rb25 (direct bolt on) you can either pm or call me on 0404 884 876 regards, marko
  6. hi guys, i am selling my tomei type a poncams to suit a gtr! - age: 15,000km - condition: excellent - why selling: not suitable for my new engine build - location: sydney (interstate is fine) - price: $600 (they are for sale on justjap for $1400: http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...305&page=1) other notes: - these are a direct bolt on replacement to the standard camshafts (no headaches with modification or other parts required). - they made 325awkw with 720nm torque @ 19psi on CRD's dyno with hks gtss turbo's. - ive run an 11.1sec quarter mile @ 129.75mph with these cams. - more info can be found here on the tomei website: http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/_2003web-catalogu...0_cam_RB26.html these cams came on full boost @ 3000rpm which is very similar boost response to the factory cams. you can either pm or call me on 0404 884 876 regards, marko
  7. thanks mate - i have the jun collar in place. should i go for the larger/heavier 1000hp balancer OR the smaller/lighter 600hp, as the 1000hp kit will create extra rotational mass. then again, i'll be pushing towards 800hp
  8. also, is the rb26 balancer the same as the rb30 balancer? both cranks look the same at a glance
  9. any suggestions on where to get the kit from at a good price?
  10. i have imported parts over the yrs from japan and luckily & i havent been hit for additional costs...i hope im not speaking too soon though as i am waiting on 2.5k worth of goods to arrival from nz
  11. hi guys, im thinking i should do my harmonic balancer as it 'sounds necessary' so i wanted to gain some thoughts on this, for an rb26/30 making 400awkw. also, what is the preferred choice here & is the Ross Metal Jacket a good option? i remember seeing a kit which includes the water pump pulley etc, anyone seen this kit? thanks marko
  12. looks like u might be fitting ur 4th set greg :-)
  13. mmm...big cams as in 290's paul?
  14. that makes me feel more comfortable - thanks for that superjet! higher duration determines when the power band starts? higher lift determines better air flow?
  15. call me 'mr thorough' or a pain in the butt ive been researching parts for my rb30 build for over 3mths now, finally coming together though
  16. i had them on my other gtr & i liked them as well
  17. from what ive found - these are the cam specs of the gibson m/s gtr: Inlet 256 @ 9.5mm lift Exhaust 278 @ 9.75 mm lift for a 3ltr though, i'd need to go bigger 1 would think a few tuners had recommended 270-272 with under 11mm lift, i'll probably stick to that unless i hear of better results from smaller cams, its hard to know...all trial & error if nobody else has tested bigger v's smaller cams
  18. i know dennis - im hopeless when it comes to making decisions! i understand your point BUT remember that im doing an rb26/30 which means i can afford to go a bit bigger with cams...i was thinking the 270degree @ 10.8mm lift would be ideal? what cams u running in your built rb26?
  19. i spoke to the camtech rep today as they now offer 270, 278 and 280 duration @ 10.8mm lift with the 11.5mm lift i was told that more work is required to the head and that the factory buckets can become unstable what would be the better option for increased performance?
  20. they are direct bolt on, the reason i stuck with them is to also avoid a defect and epa im doing an rb30 so if u have an rb26 they will be laggy
  21. haha - thats true paul, that should be added on the end of jims quote... i wonder if they stamp the cams with the green & gold "STRAAAALIAN MAAADE" sticker lol
  22. i priced up jap cams with springs which came close to $2500 local gear is only $1100 - HUGE diff in price
  23. hi guys, im looking at purchasing cams from http://www.camtechcams.com.au/ & valve springs from http://www.performancesprings.com.au/. pricing has attracted me & i've heard some good things about both products to date, im also aware that some engine builders use these brands. how do they rate in terms of quality & performance versus the likes say jun, hks, tomei? regards marko
  24. what is your power goal & who is building this engine for you?
