  3. hi guys, i spoke to a well respected engine builder today who recommended the use of a vl turbo oil pump on my rb26/30 build & the oil pump collar is not required...has anyone heard this before? its news to me... regards,

  6. how about running a larger capacity bottom end (i.e. rb30 in gtr), what are the rules here in regards to legislation? will i need an engineers certificate for this? ideally - i'd like to use my rb26 engine number on the rb30 block but then i cannot sell my rb26 block to somebody who wants to register this engine number

  10. well this comes to me as a surprise, all of the above listed gtr's are twin turbo (except for the M's Factory @ 9th place) i had another chat with my tuner who has had experience with tuning the t04z & -10's...he said it takes a bit longer to get the twins on song together & has had the following results... rb26 with -10's = boost by 4500rpm (take off 15% with rb30 = boost by about 3800rpm) rb30 with t04z = boost by 4500rpm peak power with -10's = will give me 400kw (my goal) peak power with t04z = will give me 400kw (my goal) either way i'll be happy & i'll probably stick with my already purchased -10's

  14. i remember seeing a graph of the T04Z v's GTRS & i think 2 other turbo's on a recent thread...has anyone seen this?
  15. it almost doesnt make sense to me as to how a 0.84 T04Z makes as much power (if not maybe more) than 2 x 0.64 -10's...i thought the of physic's would come into play? take it as it is i guess then with the boost response rates (comparing the 2 systems) would allow the T04Z to win as spooling a 0.84 would not take as long as 1.28 (i.e. 0.64 x 2) am i on the right page?
  16. out of interest, what size rear housings are available with the t04z which would be best suited for a 3ltr? 0.7 0.84 1.0
  17. that is 460kw! i went in a gtr with 447kw about 5yrs ago & that was phenominal! what got me going about the -10's a post that 'BoostdR' added in the "Rb30 Hybrid Upgrade" sticky, as below (granted its an rb32): OS RB32/26 OS Rods CP Custom pistons Modified Pins Nisspeed Sleeves Nisspeed Spec Head Nisspeed Spec Cams Garrett -10's Dry Sump Motec M800 MSD coils 832hp @ 8290rpm and 22psi (maybe a little more in her) Also 649ftlb torque at 5000rpm and 300ftlb @ 2900 and 400+ @ 4000 This is actually John Munro's new engine for his track GTR...don't even think he knows the results yet

  19. so if the t04z makes more power later, does that mean the -10's will boost earlier and make more midrange? it would be great to see a graph with t04z vs -10's/gtrs what single setup did n1gtr have before?
  20. hi guys, i am building an rb30dett for my gtr & my original thoughts were to go with low mount Garrett -10's. im aiming for 400+awkw but i want it to be streetable with nice midrange & torque (minimal lag). previously i had HKS GTRS setup on an rb26 & the lag drove me mad, the HKS GTSS setup which i had after this was much nicer IMO! then my tuner threw a spanner in the works!!! he thinks i should go with a T04Z for ease of tuning & turbo surge (i guess it just makes his job easier which i dont really care about)...i can think of pros & cons for the T04Z such as being a cop defect, might effect resale with a big single, etc. but i really just want the best results possible. ive spoken to a few guys here on the forum about this (u know who you are) i guess i am indecisive so im looking for some past experiences & persuasion on which way to go. 1. which of the T04Z 'or' Garrett -10's will give me more peak power? 2. which of the T04Z 'or' Garrett -10's will give me midrange/driveability? thanks in advance, marko. p.s. im doing my head in with this

  22. i'll speak to earls today in silverwater & see they charge - really my only option the other problem is the physical size of the element - its approx. 40cm x 30cm (pretty big) but if i fit it at the right angle it will be good
