  1. pretty sure the rear upper arms (camber) and the front castor rods are the same. Not sure about the rest.
  2. Thanks for the reply......looks like I need to practice my launches. I don't like being too brutal on my car though, hence the slow 60' times. Maybe I should give up on drag racing. I think you need a certain amount of mechanical disregard to be a good drag racer
  3. can anyone tell me what an ET of 14.5 with a TS of 100mph would indicate. I am a crap drag racer and have never broken 14.3 but my TS is always up around the 100mph mark, and my 60' is always around 2.2+ Does this indicate that my car could run faster with a decent driver at the wheel? and can someone tell me what sort of times it should be capable of running with those figures?
  4. backfiring could be an exhaust leak, maybe you spat a gasket somewhere along the line
  5. OK.....I live in Ipswich, and I'll say something...... WELCOME TO 2003!! This is soooo old and seems to go around every couple of months. So far I have seen Inala, Redfern, Woodridge and now Ipswich. Some people have no originality. I do admit though, the first incarnation I did find quite amusing. There you go Sam
  6. Can I get a PM too pls?
  7. whatever car you choose, make sure you keep us informed of when and where you are going to be driving it...........just to be safe
  8. I had the same thing happen on a track day recently. The symptoms sound similar to yours...started ticking and progrssively got worse until it sounded like I was driving a tractor. Mine was pretty easy to diagnose though, because when I had a look at where the noise was coming from I could see a piece of the gasket hanging out the side of the manifold. Replacement of the gasket on the GTST is pretty easy. Front/Dump off, turbo off, manifold off. I found 3 out of 12 broken stud bolts so replaced them all. The gasket was ~$100 from Nissan and the studs were $48 for 12. You will also need the chunky washers and a new nut for any missing studs.
  9. my series 1 has a series 2 front bar but I didn't do the conversion so I couldn't tell exactly what needs to be changed. The S2 bar will fit but doesn't line up around the headlights. The light hang over the bar by about 20mm at the front and on the sides they sit in from the bar about the same. I am not sure whether you need to change the reo bar, but you definately don't need to change lights and bonnet if you can live with the clearance issues around the lights. Personally I reckon the S1 type M bars look better anyway. I will be looking at swapping mine when one comes up in the right colour, state and price (ie. probably never )
  10. are you sure it's leaking at the core? I had a similar problem a while back and I thought I had a boost leak, coz when the engine was cold I could hear this high pitched squeal as the turbo was spooling (not even making positive boost), but it disappeared when the engine warmed up. The REAL problem showed itself after 2 hard sessions at darlington park at which time the exhaust manifold gasket(head > log manifold) shat itself. Obviously it had a minor leak for a while and the sustained hi revs etc saw the end of it. Just a suggestion
  11. Te car is actually handling a lot better than it used to, so it must have had some pretty shocking alignment settings previously. My main concern is the rear wheels not sitting symmetrically with the body, as seen in the photos. At the moment, when I take a fast right hander and load up the left side of the car, when I hit a dip in the road, the rear left tyre is scrubbing on the wheel arch and chewing out the tyre. I haven't had time to get the subframe alignment checked yet but hopefully when I do, that will sort the problem.
  12. OK, so the people at Bob Jane need to be shot. What about the left hand wheel sitting further out than the right?
  13. I need the opinion of someone with good chassis and suspension knowledge (SK? ) to lend a hand with an issue I have. The car is an R33 GTST which already had Teins installed when I got it. They are set reasonably low and I have tried raising them but couldn't get them to budge, even with the proper C spanners. Due to the height of the car, the negative camber on the rear was pretty shocking, so I have installed a set of "JIC style" camber arms. I also had to replace a rear wheel bearing on the driver side, so did that while I was at it and then went to Bob Jane and had a wheel alignment done. I noticed when I got home after the wheel alignment that the LHR wheel sits out further than the RHR wheel (the one where I replaced the wheel bearing). I have attached 3 pictures, 1 down the left side, 1 down the right side and a scan of the wheel alignment printout. Can someone knowledgable have a look at them and see if anything glaringly obvious is wrong. My main concern is that the chassis is bent, but I always expect the worst. My other thoughts are: 1. the new wheel bearing is narrower than the original, or 2: maybe I should have bought the traction rods that are "supposed" to be used with the camber arms. Perhaps they have a bearing on how far out the wheel sits. Hopefully someone can offer an informed opinion and clear this up. Thanks
  14. Your profile says RB20E........I don't think it will make any difference which boost controller or "how much" you wind up the boost....you aren't going to notice ANY difference Seriously though......regapping the plugs is simply a matter of removing the plugs and regapping the electrodes to .8mm ECU reset can be done by either shorting 2 of the terminals on the consult port (do a search) or by removing the battery and draining any remaining charge in the car by pumping the brake pedal, then replace the battery and the ECU should be reset. I prefer the consult port method personally.
  15. I have changed gearbox oil twice in the last year and I'm pretty sure it took 3.8L each time
