  1. Been half arsed about buying one for about a year or so and watched their prices closely. They are all about 8 to 15k. Been eyeing this one for a while. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/84738-VIC-Fully-worked-ADM-14k And was pretty close to getting this. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/84422-1984-AE86-Sprinter?p=974588#post974588
  2. They are not expensive at all. A good condition, rust free and fully modded one, rear end conversion, full suspension, drive line, engine, exhaust upgrades etc can be had for $8 - 13k. Cheap I recon.
  3. The best way to do it is have the dumps straight out of the bonnet and boost it till it blows. Any volunteers?
  4. Oh ffs just run some mph will ya. This dyno numbers crap is just bullshit. Run mph and then you will know that your dyno figures are just full of shit. Show us the mph or just shut the fk up.
  5. Look it up if you're not sure. You are the expert obviously. Or just read my post and save yourself some time.
  6. This is your post. What you wrote is wrong. Not that I care. Just saying
  7. I think you are getting confused. The gate is shut to a predetermined pressure commonly controlled by an ebc, therefore there is no positive pressure on the gate diaphragm. So if the spring pressure is 15psi then the you set the ebc to 14 psi. The gate remains shut to that point, so no flow through the screamer, so it's impossible to contribute to lag. If when its open when the screamer and dump is flowing and the exhaust hasn't got enough flow then you will encounter all the symptoms on a restrictive system where your power plateaus, boost targets cant be achieved....etc etc. But this will only happen if the exhaust system is restrictive AFTER the union of the dump and screamer. Has nothing to do with lag which is when and how quickly boost transitions. If the dump is too small, then yes it will cause lag, as we all know, but an open or plumbed scream makes no difference until the gate opens above the set level and will only affect higher mid range and top end IF the rest of the exhaust system is not able to cope with the gas flow.
  8. Exactly.^^^^^Can't see how plumbing the screamer back in can contribute to lag. When building boost the only thing that causes back pressure issues is the size of the dump.
  9. Who knows, bearings were perfect, no oil stavation or heat damage apparent. Running 26 psi on a built 26. Everyone threw their arms in the air, no one's fault and said show me the money for a rebuild. [emoji19]
  10. But don't you get into issues of spinning them too fast with a bang to follow?
  11. So in other words your trap speed equates to a healthy 350wkw (approx) setup. Dyno sheet is irrelevant. Congrats.
  12. Dynos are just a tuning tool, the numbers are not absolute. The only absolute way to know how fast your car is is down the quarter, ET is how well your car is set up, mph engine power.
  13. Run some mph and then we won't have to guess.
  14. Interesting. Would be nice to see some pics when you can.
  15. There is no reason why you can't run 20 odd pounds with a road tune, wideband and a set of knock ears. Safe AFRs and timing then push the boost a bit at a time to 23. You can get the tune 80 - 90% there on 98 octane and safe if you are in a bind with good tuners.
  16. Car looks mint.Looks tough with all those blind corners and sweepers. How was the under steer?
  17. You're right, or people that own them want to push their limits, that are pretty high already, that's fine, its your car and do what you want, but don't whine like a princess when shit breaks.Put a pair of semis on a 240 kw chipped commo and do a couple of launches and see shit fall apart like you have just smashed it with a sledge hammer.
  18. Skylines break like any other modified car does. Maintenance is cheap. Brand new 5 spead Gearbox $3000, rebuilt 1500, Dsg upward of 5k Diff 400, priced a C63 diff lately? I would be scared to. Gearbox, diff's and transfer case breaks due to launching at the limiter and flat shifting, like any other AWD car. Oil pump breaks due to limited bashing, bottom end breaks due to high G corners on stickies at 7000 rpm+ with a standard sump, like any car. Engine detonates due to no surge tank at high Gs on stickies and fuel starvation like any other car. Name one 350 to 400 wkw car with that amount of traction that won't break. Fark my mate's friend just spent $10+k fixing his drive line on his 400+kw G6E which cost him 50k to buy and has poured heaps of other money into it. IMO gtrs are cheap to run and great performance for your $ if you know its limits, but every modified 400kw car have limits. If you go over the limits they will break. Drive GTRs daily, look after them and they won't break and are cheap to run maintenance wise.
  19. I remember when the 33 GTR first came out, saw it in wheels mag or something. And downloaded an image over 28k dial up internet conection and just watched the image build line by line...... Ahhhh the good ol' days.
  20. Yeah cruise control would be nice, I thought about an aftermarket product years ago then I called myself a weak pussy and never did it. [emoji57]
