  1. If your looking at budget options, then id second everyone elses opinion on here and look at hypergear and KKR. They are good quality products. Although at the end of the day they are still not going to be quite as good as your big brand name turbos. In terms of ebay turbos, there is a lot of heresay about them. Some people on here say they every single one is shit, but havent once used one. It is true that some are absolute rubbish, but some are quite good. Caveat Emptor! If you wanted to find out more, id contact Sam at Dr. Drift here in Melbourne. He buys ebay turbos and tests them out. I know he had a highmount ebay turbo on top of an ebay manifold, and it made 300rwkws reliably on his rb25det drift car, so it got thrashed regularly. Im not sure whether he still has the car or what he has done with it nowadays though. Be aware though that bottom line, especially with turbos is that you do get what you pay for in the majority of cases
  2. Id also be interested in what e85 could do with a stock turbo? any ideas Trent??? im running 13psi at the moment, so theres not really any room to increase boost i wouldnt imagine Im in St kilda so fueltown isnt too far at all! and the car is only a weekender so it wouldnt be a hassle fueling up. Im ASSUMING the injectors and stock turbo would be the main things holding me back? ive got an aftermarket fuel pump, which would be fine. Would there be any worthwhile gains to be had???? if there is, ill be knocking on your door Trent!!!!
  3. The likely condition of the car is going to come down to the owner or dealership selling the car. ie. do you feel they are trustworthy? are they avoiding any questions or do they not know the answers to the questions you ask?Do they have full documentation of car such as auction papers, auction grade report, receipts for any work done etc. I dont know much about condition of other skyline platforms, but from my experience with the r33 platform, i have seen these points as things that wear the most/easily and are the most prevalent & also things to look out for - Worn Steering Wheel Worn/torn gearstick surround and handbrake surround key/nail scratches underneath and around door handle worn/torn drivers seat side bolster from exit/entry worn pedals faded/broken/perished rubbers around windows and wiper guard odometer numbers not lining up correctly leaking headlights/tail lights dirt in speaker surrounds/in air vents/underneath interior panels indicator & headlight stalks worn drivers side power windows surround and switches worn electric windows & electric mirrors not working BUT As everyone has said, there are many signs that a car *may* be worn out, but there are too many exceptions to the rule. Someone may only be able to store their car outside, so its bodywork and exterior parts are going to be in terrible condition compared to someone that keeps their car in a garage away from the elements, but the person who keeps it outside may baby the car so mechanically its A1, but the owner who garages it may thrash it and track it, so its mechanical quality is going to be far worse. As r32s,r33s and r34s are getting older and older, its going to get harder and harder to find examples in good aesthetic condition, and more importantly STOCK examples, as modifying is such a big thing with these cars. Only way to really tell is to drive multiple cars of the same model, and as stock as possible. Get a feel for what it should drive like, and also an independent mechanical check, preferably by a mechanic specialising in imports.
  4. Very Straightforward to do, just takes time, and in terms of adjustments, a LOT of patience. Adjusting new coilovers out of the box took me forever. We installed them, put in some rough settings, tried it, jacked the car back up, took the wheels off again, readjust and repeated the process about 5 times. Have a look around on the forums for what most people set their coilovers too, because it is very possible to make your car handle worse than the stockies with a bad setup. Also keep in mind you will need to pull out the rear seat to get access to the rear suspension. Took myself and a friend a full afternoon to take out the stock suspension, put in the newies and adjust them very basically. It then took a few hours the next day to adjust some more. I ended up going to a specialist to give them a once over, double check the settings, make some adjustments etc and also wheel alignment (which is a must when installing new coilovers regardless) which made the car handle 10000 times better than the stock shocks. Best to try it yourself! Even if you just wanted to whack them in and take them to someone to set up properly and give a wheel alignment, you will save quite a lot then compared if you just took them to someone to do it all for you.
  5. Unbelievable car. Youve done the real-life version of buying all the stage 4 upgrades for a car on Gran Turismo!! Two questions- WTF DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING! and HOW THE F DO I GET IN ON IT?!?! haha, great work on the car, i really hope i see it soon in the flesh at a SAU event.
  6. Nice build!! loving it! really hanging to see in car videos and dyno graphs when its finished! Would definitely be worthwhile to have a look at the suspension set up, having driven an x-trail a bit before they arent great, and i would imagine it would be harder to handle with the extra power???
  7. put me on the reserves! have everything ready to go if i get on the list
  8. Alright so ive hacked it up with a hacksaw, piss easy as i thought it would be. I called two panel shops that i know, just to chuck it on and tidy it up, but they were backed up with work. So if anyone has the facilities to help me put it on and mount the number plate it would be much appreciated! or if anyone knows any panel shops that would do it (closer to st kilda the better)
  9. Buy yourself something N/A and lightweight, go to the track and have some fun, do some driver training, then when your off your P's not only will you have the ABILITY to drive a turbo car to its full extent, but the thrill you will get of going from a lowish powered N/A car to a high powered turbo car will DEFINITELY be worth the wait. Just the feeling of getting your license and being independent is good enough, i wouldnt jeopardise that IMO. Think of it this way, if you get caught, you wont be able to go round to that girls house in the middle of the night with no license and car
  10. Dr. Drift can retune rb25 ecus. Give him a call. If your in Melbourne of course
  11. mines the two tone blue/grey, so not really willing to get rid of it as its the right colour and i can bolt it right on, because im assuming yours is black??? unless yours is two tone like mine and id swap happily
  12. saw a 300zx ute with a snow camo paint job driving around the backstreets of coolaroo today when i was on my lunch break. quite odd
  13. do you have the lhs and rhs side mirror glass for an r33 gtst?? and if you do what kind of condition? and on top of that what price?
  14. ok cool, thanks for that ash! will definitely let you know, the plastic is pretty soft so ill have a crack with a stanley, im in no rush to do it quick as its not a daily driver anyway. What i need more so is someone to help me fit it as i cant do it at home. Question for the guys who have done this to their front bars, what have you done with your number plates?? in terms of how did you mount them and where??? Was it as simple as just drilling holes and screwing in?? im just worried about the plastic possibly cracking or fatiguing from it?
