Scooby replied to amosite's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi Amosite; please check your PM -
The price of the MA-Z1 is about $200 per corner as tested in 235/45/17. The 265x35x18 is another model.

Stainless or factory exhaust manifolds, results inside.
Scooby replied to Boosted Zed's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi Geoff; Heh heh please tell me you're not at DMO aka Forces of Darkness and Misunderstood User Requirements LOL. John; Thank you for accepting the challenge. At this stage the only way I can see the test would be worthwhile is if the modifications ie dumps, turbos, tune etc are done and tested with the standard manifold and then the manifold is replaced with yours and retested. I have N1s and will use either CES or Trust dumps with an ecu reburn. Ideally it would be in conjunction with another workshop so that there can be no suggestion of fudged results down the track, particularly if they exceed expectations. The payment arrangement if it does / does not work to the expected degree (nothwithstanding it's currently a bit unknown due to the r and d aspect) we should take off-line, and I'll call you to discuss this. Anyone have comments? Regards -
not if the margins on the cheap ones are greater than the more expensive ones, which is likely to be the case. he's there to make money.

Guys, does anyone have one of these, it's the non-grained type on the 88-89 GTRs. if so please pm me. Regards

Max Disc Diameter With F40 Front Calipers
Scooby replied to Scooby's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi Ronin; no that's an F50 which I think is bigger. you need adaptors to mount them to the gtr hub radially whereas the f40 bolts straight through axially. Cheers -

I know one bloke who's dog wouldn't eat the corned beef. Anyway I digress... John are you up for the test I proposed or not?? Regards -

Scooby replied to Boosted Zed's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
GTST; Agreed. But I'm following John's lead with this 'I would not suggest just doing this alone but rather something you would do when doing turbo's and dump pipes' no doubt the exact method of testing would have to be negotiated and validated by the likes of (hopefully) SK. John; In answer to your question 'Yes scooby do I'm up for it but what's it though?', what I wrote was: I'll be your guinea pig. I intend to put N1s and dumps on my R32 and reburn the ecu very soon. And I understand the gain (from the extrude hone process) may not be in power but rather lower boost and temp etc which are results I'd be just as happy with...Are you up for it? The 10kw improvement figure was a hypothetical only, I don't attach anything firm to that nor use it as a benchmark of any sort. Regards -

Hi there Lucien, Combative? What the hell do you mean by that? LOL OK sorry if it came across that way, I know John has the wherewithall to give us the results we need. John re: No probs Scooby bring it on not avoiding it I was even asking for a candidate. I did now want to be taken out of context or shoe horned into predictions or promises, I am either not sure of or doubt will happen...I would not suggest just doing this alone but rather something you would do when doing turbo's and dump pipes. I'll be your guinea pig. I intend to put N1s and dumps on my R32 and reburn the ecu very soon. And I understand the gain may not be in power but rather lower boost and temp etc which are results I'd be just as happy with. I'll pay for all of the work, as it would cost me to do that anyway. We just need to come to an arrangement on the cost of the extrude hone in terms of what they should achieve and what that's worth. Are you up for it? Regards -

Scooby replied to Boosted Zed's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi there John; no he didn't. what he wrote was... Perhaps a better porting result would be achieved if the primaries were of equal volume, as this would give the same result as equal length. That is where flow testing of equal length primary pipes, as you would find in any decent stainless steel pipe manifold, won't show up their true advantage. Flow rate is not the only gain to be had from equal length primary pipes. John you wrote: unless there is a restriction further along the system then increasing the flow of a component which we KNOW it does from flow bench test then we know (sic)it will make more power. Then there should be no problem proving this to us with a dyno run should there? But the question is also how much more. 2 kw or 20kw? Not going to spend my bucks on 2kw. I would not expect anything like 10% more power by having even 15% more flow as for example standard turbo's will only pump so much although will do it easier, cooler and safer and maybe less boost. it will? please prove it. 'expect' and 'maybe' are two words i don't like to hear when someone is trying to sell me something. as in 'here John, please but my marketing strategy, carefully designed with all of my experience, for $1000 because I expect it will improve your sales. maybe.' you wouldn't buy it so don't expect us to hand over our hard earned in the same circumstances. John I don't see why you are avoiding the obvious challenge we are putting to you ie 'prove it is worth the money'. What I see is very reasonable and well considered questions, with people giving you the benefit of the doubt. And the more you fail to accept the challenge of proving the worth of these things the more sceptical people will become. You have a dyno in your office for heavens sake, what's the problem? And please don't give us that 'dyno runs cost money if we tested everything it would cost us so many $$$ etc' because that is the pain of R and D. This forum has been going for long enough for me to know that: people will ask the right questions they will buy stuff that works Show me the results and I'll show you the money. Regards -

Sorry mate, quite right. Doh! See my edit, done before I saw your post! John just dyno the things. Please. -
heh heh you guys reckon that's bad, I'm told that if you search under 'toast' in ebay you'll find it carved in all sorts of shapes.

Bless you GTST, I knew someone had to ask about the main game ie performance sooner or later. John, I'm not trying to in any way oppose what you have posted here but can you answer Abo Bob's question or not? If I was a bench racer / professional air mover I'd be there this arvo with the $ to get a set of these. But since I only want to use a flow bench to move air to increase performance (and remember air under vacuum behaves differently to air under pressure) , you have given me no real reason to spend money. Please help rectify this for me. Or indeed most of us whom I suspect will beat a path to your door if you can provide results. Or should the start of this thread read' all those who are prepared to spend their money on something that moves air really well but has not been proven to increase performance read further'? I'm a fan of the original manifolds for the reasons you have stated. Prove to me that the extra money to get them honed actually works in the real world and you can have my money today. Or tomorrow, whatever works for you. Alternatively, tell me what you reckon I should see at the wheels + or - 10% and if you're right I'll pay, if you're wrong I don't but you can have my old manifolds. If it works this is a no risk proposition for you. Remember, no offence meant. Regards -

was he powersliding or suffering from lift-off oversteer ie not keeping his foot in it and letting a GTR do what a GTR is supposed to do? but either way you're right, he wouldn't have been doing that if he could drive. -
Someone who runs a workshop in Sydney (well referred by others, by all accounts knows his stuff and doesn't sell parts) has told me that R32 GTR bovs are not the greatest. That conflicts with everything I've read about them, has anyone tested and come across a leaky unit before? Cheers

Hi Guys / Gals; The Sparco Python rims that were on my R32 GTR are up for sale. They are lightweight 17x9 with a few gutter scrapes (no extra charge for them, bargain!) and would prob make great track day rims. IMHO look the mut's nuts on R33s, better than the normal Sparco and BBS style mesh. If you're interested please email me at [email protected] and I'll send photos. I'm not after a lot of $ but they are genuine Sparcos and lightweight. Regards Scooby

tried that and doesn't work if you're absent minded, got to remember to detach dog leads before driving off.

just put some in an r32. with standard springs and softest adjustment they are kidney bashers. and people were saying Bilstein were harsh so I went with koni (admittedly had good experience with konis before). spewing. spoke to Toperformance (they are good to deal with) and they said the valving r and d is done in Japan for these. we all know what that means...spewing again. also said that they've been told about the harshness before...hmmm would've liked this bit of info before buying... i'm not impressed at finding this out the hard way and reckon these dampers are way too hard for the road although they're supposedly a good 'compromise' shock. got onto koni in holland and they said they 'see the problem' and will speak with Toperformance. anyone else picking their fillings up off the floor with konis?

Gotcha. I reckon what he does with that thing, and supposedly on a stock but prepped RB30 bottom end, is great.
