I just want a dry day so I can post some real times :P

I think something that could make the list a little interesting is, if its known, post the 'at the wheels KW' the car is running. Might put a litte different perspective on the list. . . . .

Where are the mods making this Sticky???

Times do tell the story. I have thought about a dyno day for the track day to put rwkw next to lap times for interest.

maccattack - There may be some full days in the pipeline for this year :P

I think we have run out of forum glue to make this thread sticky :D

This has probably been asked before many a time. But, I am trying organise me and some friends to come to one of these track days and they are all asking me about insurance, costs licences etc. please can someone confirm the following

Insurance does not cover you if you crash on the track ?

you do not need a Cams liscence ?

its somehting like $110 for the day.

sb..

Generally your insurance does not cover you on the race track. Read your policy carefully or call your insurer.

You don't need a CAMS license as we run under the AASA, which we buy a public liability insurance policy from.

You need to have a Qld Raceway annual license which is $55. You require this to do any motorsport out there.

You need a helmet and long sleeve non flammable clothes.

Your car needs to be in good working order with no fluid leaks etc.

The cost is $120.

If you want to book in a group of mates, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you all the details.

Paul

i disagree, the times will say all they need to

I disagree Michael! You have just finished a major power upgrade if the bits you are selling are any indication. Having spent some money doesn't make you a better driver, it just makes the car faster!! Putting two drivers in the same vehicle is the best way to judge ability. Unless the people know what your car is able to do, they will think YOU are better, not just poorer for having spent dollars on your car!!!! KW tells most of the story. :)

you were making more power than me on the trackday in march

what did the times say?

One lap your time was better than mine. Most laps, you were behind by 2+ seconds. A rematch is in the cards soon. Patience little man, all good things for those who wait. (GTR is on the docks! )

Sounds like you guys need a complete solution for this dispute. You could have a system based on not only best lap times on the Sprint, Clubman and National circuits (weighting more on the shorter circuits due to less dependancy on power) but also a consistency segment, maybe discard the fastest and slowest lap time for the day then calculate the distribution of times.

Also, for those who came, how good was that video Brett did of last years track days !!!

Oh yeah, what about the Willowbank times?? Did I forget to mention them??

nah i was faster remember

and what are you talking about i was 2 seconds faster than you on sprint

EDIT: haha, just checked the spreadsheet from the march trackday, my worst time in the sheet was equal to your best. nice try oldman. :)

and paul, the video rocked :)

Hey guys, Track Day is only 3 weeks away. Time to get booked in, a bit short on numbers at the moment. I've put the 5 groups up on:

www.TimeAttack.com.au

If you want a full SAU group let me know and I'll move some cars around.

    • The car remains in paint jail. I am now pretty convinced that the whole "RB25 Airboxes are kinda limiting to ~300kw" could be a thing. Also saw a good video from Engine Masters: (Sorry for FB link) (https://www.facebook.com/watch/?ref=search&v=761771519471924&external_log_id=c10bcbb6-2c39-4ff3-9240-287e9921fde6&q=Cold Air Considerations) Where they tested Pod Filter sizes and kept adding bends to a LS3 on an Engine Dyno to find if bends caused power loss. It's a good video worth watching - They did lose ~25hp from making an intake which had 3x90's and a 120 degree. They only lost maybe 1hp with a basic 90. I feel that by sealing up my airbox I have: 1) Created the same restriction a stock airbox would have. 2) Created a very convoluted set of intake 'pipes' by forcing all the air through the ducts. So I am pretty confident I'll be going full circle and have a huge hot air intake pod and actually see a benefit. The air does *not* stay hot once it gets flowing, aided by the ducts, and the pod can then pull air from anywhere. All the posts of yore talk about the stock airbox costing 10-15kw at 300kw+ but you know what? I f**king would very much like that 10-15kw and I remember my own pod filter in engine bay experiences. Turns out the GTT Reo and Headlight brackets really don't allow you to mount GTR items, no matter what the internet says. Various brackets have had to be made up to actually make it fit right for the front bar. Also some idiot mounted a 3L Accusump right where the bumper wants to go, so that has had to be 'relocated' To where, I am still not sure, but it's supposedly mounted in the pictures and I can't see it.
    • Sounds like the oil pressure light is wired into the oil temp sensor... As it warms up, resistance on temp sensor reduces, hence more current can flow and the dash light gets brighter.
    • Got the front subframe and suspension in.
    • If it's cold in summer, then no issue. If it's cutting out every few seconds and you're not reaching your target temp, then there's an issue. One could be the pressure switch and the other issue could be the temp probe inside the evaporator.
