yeah you can get them repaired, but the repair will cost more than a $89 sub.. or at least veryt close too it if your lucky... i owuldnt bother personally.. and some of those pioneer subs go quite hard... depends what your expecting really... have a listen to them beofre you buy and see if they meet your requirements... but one thing to keep in mind... if your burning out voice coils you may want to look at why before you sink any big money into another sub (i.e not enough power from amp or running excessive power etc etc..)...

cheers,

damo

You can never have too much power  just turn it down before it distorts, as an aside, if you have a dual coil sub, run them at 4 ohm - running at 2 & 1 ohm is for competitions, it heats up your amp and cabling and effectivly gives you the same sort of power with reduced lifespan from your equipment

  • 3 weeks later...

unless your emotionally attached to that sub for some reason, just go get a new one, ne that can handle the power of your amp... you will thank yourself for it... (buy in RMS, and buy a little under what the amp is rated at, but no more then say 50 watts...)

ive rooted voice coils before, i think ive rooted subs in every way. I once ran a sub so hard that the wires that took the power to the coil actually snapped! due to excessive movement. i thought it was pretty impressive, and a bloody easy fix too...

    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
