um guys i was just wondering what kind of difference does it the cold air box make to the induction (sucking) sound??

at the moment with just my k&n pod it really sucks loudly, just wondering wat kind of difference the box will make to this sound as i am in the process of putting a box together...

i've got one of the UAS partitions, and havent noticed any reduction in noise after the install! depends on how sealed you make the box and intake ducting, wont get rid of the noise i dont think!

LOL yeah, It's been about 2 years !!

I found that the one that I made did reduce the noise a bit, but I think it had more to do with the insulation stuff that I used on the inside of the box. The insulation stuff is about 10mm think of foam, with one side being heat reflective foil.

Yepp, sure do Here are a few more pics of it getting made up.

The insulation stuff I got from Clark Rubber, not sure what it's called, but it was about $40 for a square meter.

shame you had to cut into the chasis in the guard there, im just using a CAI from the front bar up into the old hole from the IC!

Jay what did you do to hold the frame of the kit to the chassis of the car? i mad one ages ago only out of the insulation stuff from clark rubber but there is nothing to hold it onto the chassis so it is not flush. did you glue it?

G'day Croat - we made the box fit around the intercooler pipe work. To install the box you have to disconnect one of the pipes and feed it through etc...

Doing this keeps the box very stable and doesn't let it move around at all (it a tight fit !). So there's no need to screw the box down to the bodywork at all.

thats what i've done but i've been thinking recently if we ever do get any rain here in sydney, water from the road will come straight up onto the pod = bad,

any ideas how to reduce this guys?

Jimbo i have had my pod with a large induction pipe going from my front bar to my pod via the standard intercooler hole... I was a bit sceptical about it at first but have checked many times and have never had water in the area as a result of it... i dont think the water will be able to travel upwards so easily. Just try keep out of those large puddles, but with the weather as is i would not worry...

well seeing as the air does not need to be forced through the pipes to the box, perhaps as modified type of u bend (yes like a sink) could be used to trap the water!! atm, i can see where water has entered that area from the holes in the chasis from the original air box!!

any other suggestions?

Hey guys, jus regarding 'noises' the cold air induction systems make, Say i replace my stock ryco panel filter with a K&N panel filter (inse the stock box) will it make any significant make in induction noise? (im a sucker for that sound)
