Hey guys,

Got my car dynoed over the weekend.

Pulled 247.4HP.

Mods include:

3" Turbo back exhaust

FMIC

HKS Pod

12 PSI boost from bleed valve

Im pretty happy with the result....can anybody else with similar mods comment on their dyno result?

Just wanting to compare with others.

Thanks

Stel

Think I would rather a little less HP and a lot safer a/f ratios.

12.5 or so after it has come on full boost is a little lean.

Wind down your boost until you sort out if the problem is injector flow or fuel pump.

BTW , why can't workshops turn the bottom scale from kmh to rpm .

It's not hard and is a lot more useful for comparisons regarding spool up , lag etc.

Cheers

Ken

Check the RB25 dyno sticky thread :)

But yeah, pretty spot on. Long as it drives good, thats all you need.

You need an SAF-C/PowerFC though as you have the typical "dip" in the mid-range, and then another nasty one further up.

Also i'd drop 1-2psi outta it for safety if you arent looking to upgrade turbo anytime soon.

Give it some solid curry @ 12psi and ceramic wheels have flown a few times before

We'll i have an SAFC going in tomorrow so should be fine after a tune with that.

I wanted to see what i get before and after SAFC.

Not necessarily , they normally run rich all things being correct.

I think you still may have a problem with your fuel pump.

Cheers

ken

Thanks for the advice guys.

The guys at Castle hill said that the afr's arn't too bad (between 11-13) but i don't know how interested they where in helping out.

Im gonna install the SAFC, tune it on the dyno, if we see there is a problem there with fuel pump or anything similar ill get it change.

Lets see how we go i guess.

Im not driving the car much now anyway....and i granny shift when i drive anyway so it should be ok.

Thanks again for the help.

Stel

The AFR's are ok. The little stab at the end is where he snaped off the throttle. 12.5 AFR's are good. My only concern with the dyno sheet is that 1. You shouldn't be making that much hp from those mods and 2. It was only an average of 28 degrees in castle hill on that day so what's with the 38 degree air temps. 40 degree inlet temps would see you making much less hp than that with those mods.

Personally I think someone has beefed up the results.

I dont think its a case of "see" if there is something wrong with the fuel pump.

consensus is that there is something wrong, ort something about to go seriously wrong.

Its far to lean for a stock ECU

But its your car, and the experts here have given thier advice.

Take it or leave it really

Yahe, I had 12.5 ratios on the stock ecu after same mods. It was the fuel pump. PSI was dropping to about 40, instead of 51. Tuner said just under 12.5 is about right, but change the fuel pump and get it retuned as the fuel pump will get worse.

Safc won't give you any more power, but will help the fuel trim issues that you get with r33 at cruising speeds. I dont know if r34's have this problem, but I ganied about 130 KM a tank at cruising speeds after tuning.

I run just slightly richer ratios than that and I have a SAFC installed and we have had to take out A HEAP of fuel to get the powercurve to smooth out... unless your ecu has been chipped you have something wrong somewhere!

Also That dip in your top end looks like your ecu is pulling the timing back (for whatever reason maybe related to your fuel pump which has been mentioned ^^)... dip in the middle is normal for stock ecu but it could be better

R31Nismoid is right and there is something wrong with your fuel pump. The AFR's are ok though....for now. They could be a tiny tiny bit better but AFR's of 12.3 ish are fine. With those kinds of mods and running that boost you should have AFR's closer to 11 though....so yeah, unless you have a partially blocked fuel filter....change your fuel pump

Standard ECU should be giving you about 9 or 10:1 AFR at those mod and boost levels.

Check your fuel rail pressure under load. Most likely as they say a fuel pump issue.

Replace fuel filter yourself before you get this investigated.

Any tuner (respectable) will tell you these cars run rich when the wick on the turbo is turned up or mods added. In fact sometimes mods = less performance as more airflow = less timing, rich AFR.

My stock ECU went down to 10:1 AFR at 8psi boost. Power FC went into 9:1 AFR under load at 10psi.

Your fuel pump might deteriorate more so don't let it go too long before fixing it up.

DONT use a SAFC to richen it up. It should be there to lean it out on these cars.

As a side note - I got 172rwkw at 10psi on a conservative dyno (so within about 10kw of your figure). 10psi maybe safer for you.

Hey guys,

Got the car tuned last night at Unigroup engineering.

I have just installed an SAFC and the powergains where very noticable.

Last dyno (first post) pulled out 187kw with pretty shocking afrs.

with the safc i managed to get 206.6kw with an AFR of about 12 flat.

I asked if it could have been a problem with the fuel pump last time and they assured me that if it was the fuel pump, the afrs would be going up with the revs.

The first power curve was just after safc was installed and car was running funny.

cant explain it any other way, only did it once, then sorted itself out.....

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
