I'd be very wary... I've got a (freshly painted) black R33, and I feel your pain. But I still haven't seen a car cover that doesn't scratch... Wind gets to it and rubs it against your duco. The slightest bit of dirt under there will scratch it to buggery.

I'd go and get some good quality microfibre cloths, some Quick Detailer (if necessary), and just give it a quick rub down in the morning to get the dust/water marks off. I do this whilst having a ciggie/coffee in the morning - makes me much happier driving to work! Just make sure they're microfibre or all the dust you pick up will still scratch the car...

Man car covers are great in all conditions even in a garage, ive used 2 pretty much since i got the car and there is barely a scratch or mark anywhere on the car. It gives it some protection against people walking past or carrying things etc

Aslong as you keep the car relatively clean and gently put the cover on without sliding it over the dirty areas (ie boot) then it works sweet :D

Yeah, I got one. One of the the thick material type. The material is a bit like the stuff the "green" shopping bags are made of but a lot softer. I just make sure my car is clean when I use it, otherwise the paint does get scratched. Protects from sun, dust, careless people walking past and makes it a bit less of a theft target when on the street (I hope).

Supercheap, autobarn etc... sell them in all sizes, a "medium" fits my r33 snugly. just make sure you get one of the good quality ones.

i have a large kenko tyvec cover and its too big for the skyline so maybe a medium would be better. i find that i barely use it anymore because you should only really use it when the car is clean or it will get scratched. the cover was about $110 as far as i remember, no where near $180.

i payed about $180?? for an autotechnica one from supercheap. fits quite snug. ive been warned by a detailer that any sort of car cover isnt very good long term.

he said that in the long run the corners over the car are consistantly being rubbed by the cover from wind e.g. edge of wing etc. and can wear it thin. and any amount of dirt that gets in the cover is very hard to get out and will scratch the paint.

i barely use mine anymore as it has collected dirt and i dont want to scratch the duco. only use it when it has to stay outside and there looks to be a possibility of hail.

I bought one of the blue ones that super cheap sell. Think it was like $60, really not even worth that much.

It's a medium that fit pretty well but a real pain in the ass to get on by yourself.

I found that it was scratching the rear panels pretty bad and was really eating into the corners of my rear wing, this was with never putting it on a dirty car.

I very rarely use it now, they do protect really well from the sun though not so sure if they're any good in the rain though. The water just seeps through and makes the cover stick to the car.

yeah my cars black too... I'm overseas at the moment and I just cut and polished and waxed my car, so its perfect. I didn't want to have the freakin cat jump over it while I was away so i bought the cheapest cover I can find, $40 at autobarn. It's not crap, it does the job, it's the same material as the green bilo bag as someone was saying before but it's very soft on the inside. The paint is really really smooth at the moment so it just slides right over it.. I don't think I will use it often though because as people said, if there's any dirt on the car it will probably get scratched...

i bought a secondhand factory R32 car cover (was sold through Nissan dealerships in japan). Fits the car snugly, but its a crappy polyester or nylon thingy material which will scratch the car's clear eventually. One of these days I'll get a velour cloth stitched onto it to prevent that.

    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
