Completely agree with u, instead of changing to a race engine on a sat night like they use to, they just run round in pvt testing blowing engines and spending money there... But have to say it all adds to the craziness that got to me as a 14 year old and has been a huge part of my life ever since. This year when i heard the V8s at Albert Park my first impression was ....sounded like a V10 with a hint of a cracked header, that slightly rough note.

Sad part for williams in all this is with Cosworth being great with V8's their gearbox/hydraulics issues are proving to cost the team major points. The minimal advantage they have in the engine dept will vanish very soon with cosworth not being able to match the major manufacturers throwing everything into their development programs..

FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!

Kimi better not go to Ferrari, those cheating bastards dont deserve him! Please stay kimi, PLEASE STAY! Anyone but those assholes....

Ferrari - assholes??? sounds like tall poppy syndrome rearings its ugly head there. Ive followed the Rampante Cavallino since 1975 ( I was only 5 but loved the Rossa Corsa cars the first time I saw em-Ive been a true Tivosi ever since). People forget they didnt win shit form 1980 to 1999.. Mclaren are johhny come lately compared to Ferrari. Ive been to both factories and Mclaren has no soul compared to Maranello-give me the red cars anyday and old mate Ron Dennis can go fk himself-I have respect for Frank too cause he is a real racer just like Enzo was and just like Ron ISNT. Kimi can stay put.

gtr660hp.. im no newbi F1 fan. i been following F1 since 1992 (10yo) and i couldnt stand ferrari from back then im not one ofthese anti establishment ppl who hate ferrari just cause they won a lot recently. I hate ferrari cause they dont play within the spirit of F1.

Mclaren came 15 years after Ferrari and overtook Ferrari as the most winniest team in F1 in 1999. Thats feat is not to be underestimated. The best way to sum up Ferrari is that they are like Collingwood in the AFL. You either love them or you hate them... and god damn i hate them

We will forever just disagree on this, you'll never change your mind and ill never ever change mine

P.S if not for Schumi Ferrari would be nowhere, he is the great keystone holding that shamozzle together

ctjet-I never said you were a newbie! Anyway-good to see there are still a few of us with some passion for our teams. Give me the red teams crazy antics anyday. Like I said for me there is something special about the team, factory and Fiorano-there is no doubt that Mclaren havnt got that special feel-there HQ is very efficient and highly technical but lacks soul-thats not to say I dont respect the cars on the track cause they have always been quick /but thats all just quick, not special :P

Good to see some flare going on.... hahaha.

I'm a Mclaren man. Simply cause I came into F1 during the Senna/Prost days and Senna's the best in my eyes.... ever. But I have to admit that when people think F1, Ferrari is the first team that comes to mind. gtr660hp is right, the Ferrari team has something special about them that people think of them first.

I don't hate Ferrari, I just could never forgive Schuey for what he did to Hill and Villeneuve. Once, ok.... twice, don't think so. However saying that, if he did retire at the end of this season I will miss him cause he's always interesting to watch.

Rumour has it that Flavio is trying to court Schumi to Renault once his Ferrari contract expires at the end of the season...now that would be interesting if that one came off.

Bring on Imola this weekend :P

love or hate him schumacher has done so much to advance the sport of F1 and bring it to a wider audience. and he is a lovely driver to watch, and is capable of doing things in a race people would not believe was possible.

Yep lookin forward to Imola-I'm a Ferrari fan not a Schumi fan so much-remember I used to hate him b4 he strated at Ferrari-He only represents a small episode (although very good) of ferrari anyway. Scuderia Ferrari actually started way back in in the 1930's when Enzo ran the Alfa (famous P1 and P2 cars) team before the modern F1 series started-very long line of history there that no other F1 team can even dream of.

But we all need Ferrari and Mclaren and Williams to be quick for the season so the Frogs (Renault) dont run away with it :spank:

LOL...i take that back. You are about the first Ferrari fan that can handle a cheap joke about his team...so things a re looking up for Ferrari :P

Ferrari are unfortunatley a bit like the Bulldogs. I have nothing against the team, but my god so many of their supporters are ding bats :P

Oh, there are any number of Lotus cars i would pick before the Elise, though the Elise was still good fun at the track :)

im a ferrari fan and a big schumi fan. the guy can drive. in his 1st year for ferrari in 1996, he managed to win 3 races in what was an extremely slow car. i was a bit suspect on the damon hill incident, but i reckon that the incident with villeneuve was more of a 50/50 thing. i haven't seen the footage for a while, but if i recall correctly, villeneuve moved to the inside going for a gap which was closing pretty fast, and locked his inside wheel. schumi turned in, which he was intitled to do. villeneuve hit schumi about 2/3's down the side of his car (towards the rear...) and damaged the ferrari's right rear suspension. racing incident, in my eyes anyway. schumi could've given room, villeneuve could've waited longer. but if you were going for the world title, you'd probably do the same....

my 2 cents.....again!

Cool thanks-maybe the real Tifosi like me are ok unlike the try hard ferrari fan who doesnt know anything about the team other than its red

Me too on the Lotus car deal-Ive always had a thing for the first series Espirit in white

and FRINK like i said Schumi only represents 2% of the Ferrari F1 story-if he ends up at Renault next year Ill be more than happy to see him into the wall

Rumor going around pit paddock at the moment is Massa will go back to Sauber at the end of this year and the new replacement driver for Ferrari is none other than our home grown hero, Webber (as his Williams contract expires at the end of this season).

    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
    • So, what else.... Power. I don't know what it is making because I haven't done a post tune dyno run yet; I will when I get a chance. It was 240rwkw dead stock. Conclusion from the day....it does not need a single kw more until I sort some other stuff. It comes on so hard that I could hear the twin N1 turbos on the R32 crying, and I just can't use what it has around a tight track with the current setup. Brakes. They are perfect. Hit them hard all day and they never felt like having an issue; you can see in the video we were making ground on much lighter cars on better tyres under brakes. They are standard (red sport) calipers, standard size discs in DBA5000 2 piece, Winmax pads and Motul RBF600 fluid, all from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney. Keeping in mind the car is more powerful than my R32 and weighs 1780, he clearly knows his shit. Suspension. This is one of the first areas I need to change. It has electronically controlled dampers from factory, but everything is just way too soft for track work even on the hardest setting (it is nice when hustling on country roads though). In particular it rolls into oversteer mid corner and pitches too much under hard braking so it becomes unstable eg in the turn 1 kink I need to brake early, turn through the kink then brake again so I don't pirouette like an AE86. I need to get some decent shocks with matched springs and sway bars ASAP, even if it is just a v1 setup until I work out a proper race/rally setup later. Tyres. I am running Yoko A052 in 235/45/18 all round, because that was what I could get in approximately the right height on wheels I had in the shed (Rays/Nismo 18x8 off the old Leaf actually!). As track tyres they are pretty poor; I note GTSBoy recently posted a porker comparo video including them where they were about the same as AD09.....that is nothing like a top line track tyre. I'll start getting that sorted but realistically I should get proper sized wheels first (likely 9.5 +38 front and 11 +55 at the rear, so a custom order, and I can't rotate them like the R32), then work out what the best tyre option is. BTW on that, Targa Tas had gone to road tyres instead of semi slicks now so that is a whole other world of choices to sort. Diff. This is the other thing that urgently needs to be addressed. It left massive 1s out of the fish hook all day, even when I was trying not too (you can also hear it reving on the video, and see the RPM rising too fast compared to speed in the data). It has an open diff that Infiniti optimistically called a B-LSD for "Brake Limited Slip Diff". It does good straight line standing start 11s but it is woeful on the track. Nismo seem to make a 2 way for it.
