hey thanks for that, i will have to look more closely at that the next time its, apart which will be soon.

btw great times, from you car & driving!

cheers Russ

Cheers Russ, the times are in the car....im still a n00b at this drag racing stuff. My career as a driver is 5 meetings old !. Slowly getting a handle on it though. High end drag racing is not as easy as some make out to be.

From all accounts your an awesome steerer, love to see you in action punting one of Nissan's finest to the max.

When Tomi comes back from Japan ill see if i can get some clearer info on the transfer case for you.

thanks mate, yeah steering them isnt as easy when you have so much under your right foot is it!

thanks for any info on transfer cases too, will be very keen to do something there!

i am not exactly too hot at the drags either, i tend to side step it too much! :P and hey bingo the worlds worst 60 footers. i have never been near a 1.6 60 footer.!

hey mik was the exige the one that had the tape on the back corner?

i remember the silver rexy hatchy too! was my favorite round and cant wait to get back there.

cheers Russ

No problem, Ben a Racepace does a similar mods (see previous posts) spoke to him on the phone at length and really knows his stuff.

Stacey has done a 1.68 60' before with less power than we have now on Federal road tyres....awesome work. My best is a 1.49...but using the M/T street drag radials....cheating in my eyes as they are almost a slick really, god only knows how they are DOT rated !

My Transfer case will be getting upgraded by Racepace in the next couple of months, from what Ben tells me he does a 10 plate upgrade. Will wait and see the results.

would be great to hear your results! when you get a chance.

it seems that my 4wd is still functioning reasonably well, as when it is not (as has happened for half a rally :P ) it goes into wheel spin when the power comes on in third !! hehe but it would be great if the 4wd reaction was quicker with harder bite.

i do have a 4wd controller that duncan sold me which has helped considerably. and also have a torque split controller fitted as well but i have never used it in racing or drags as it appears to get some driveline wind up when you get wheel spin, which was a bit concerning.

:P 1.49 must feel like your sternum is going to go out your back!!

great work!!

paul,

What is your best 60' using real street tyres?

I remember doing low 1.6s on the federals at Drag Wombat...ill dig up the slips.

always driving around the water...i.e no burnout

cops arse :P They're DOT rated because they've passed the relevant testing and have sidewalls and stickers (when new) to show this.

They're not a cross-ply, they're not a slick and you can run them on the road!

Cheating? How's 2.6l, TWO turbos (showoff) and 4WD for cheating?!?! :O

Have you tried high speed cornering with them...or even low speed for that matter...wrinkle wall slicks would be safer. How they are classified a street tyre is beyond me....but in saying that...while they are ill still use them.

Can't remember if the Exige had tape on it, there were two ornage ones there, but Jason's is the one with 'RPM' number plates. He had to retire because it lost the harmonic balancer doing a burnout before the quater mile run.

He will be back this year, but I have a feeling he will bring his GT2 this year.

The silver rexy is actually pretty quick, he had a few issues though too...broke the exhaust manifold. He finished the round, but couldn't make much boost.

your not running high PSI in the tyres are you though?

Like 20 or less?

Im sure if you bumped them to 40psi tyre pressure like most road tyres should be at, they might not be "that" bad possibly?

Maybe thats how they passed, even if they are never used that way

good point...14psi isn't great for cornering

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
