Hey guys,

im in search of 400awkw in my r32 gtr i am curious tho as to how i would go about making that kind of power without having to much lagg to go with it i am wanting to stay with twins not go a big single for response reasons( i believe it to be correct that 2 smaller twins will get on boost before 1 large single? ) any ideas and/or suggestions would be muchly appreciated

thanx

depends if thats what the parts are going to cost labor will be done my myself and my mechanic so no labor costs was hoping that will bring it down substantially

i was thinking mayb twin 2835r's on custom manifolds with the proper internals and injectors etc but i am unsure and was after some feedback or ideas on what to go with and when it comes to internals which would be best for reliability purposes?

thanx

400 - t04z

search on "t04z"

your gonna need a full rebuild, with at the least a set of good pistons and all the other stuff that goes into a solid motor... and they aint cheap.

Then comes all the extra bits

fuel pump

injectors

ecu (plus addition sensors, depending)

afm's (depending)

clutch etc etc

thats just to get started aswell

Maybe have a search of the RB26 dyno thread too, wont hurt to have a read

My car would pretty much fit the guidelines for that, T04Z on a fully built motor. Comes on quicker than standard turbos did when it was stock.

(PS: Will be for sale soon... engine is 1000km old , wouldn't wish the costs of modification on anyone, its a long road!!)

if u really wanted to u could stretch 2530s to 400kws. do u plan on running high 10secs?

im planning on using 2530s on a later date keep the twin theme and work on response rather than power. thats wat GTR is about

There is so many setup available now that will provide responce. The only question here is will they provide the target of 400kw? There are single setups and twin setups that will do the job, you will firstly need to choose what type you would prefer as there is no point suggesting a single turbo if you want a twin setup or vice a versa.

As for engine capacity, well if your building a whole engine then you can look at possible increase in capacity, if not then it should not be discussed, what would be the point as you don't have to increase capacity to acheive responce & 400kw.

Twin setup - HKS 2530's are well known for responce and high HP, they'll hit the 400kw+

Single setup - T04Z (HKS or Garrett) Also well known for responce and high HP, seen 468kw with these.

well the shopping list atm looks like this :

arias forged pistons

rods ( unsure which brand to go...suggestions? )

hks F-con V-pro ( most likely i have heard they are better than Power FC at higher power levels that may be wrong tho )

GReddy Plenum

hks 272 cams

hks cam gears

as for fuel i am unsure atm but i am thinking 1000cc injectors are going to be needed and a nice fuel rail so any suggestions on those would be great

this is what i have written down on paper so bits and pieces may change over time when i do a little bit more research

We made 404 AWKW on pump gas with 2530's...28psi. HKS full kit...dumps/mani./piping...5 inch thick cooler...720cc injectors... 3 bosch fuel pumps...Power FC.

Engine was all Nissan except Arias pistons and tomei 260 cams.

What you dont need is the Greddy plenum, 272 cams, rods are only optional as correctly prepped stockers are certainly up to the task...just make sure ARP fasteners are used.

Feel free to pm if you need a hand.

Paul

P.S. We constantly made between 440-460 when pushed with C16 and 34psi.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
