Hi,

Just thought i would shared my expericenced,

Today, just driving around a busy shopping center. 2 cops on bicycle, I saw, so i drive as normal as i could.

At traffic light, where Right Turn arrow light just turn yellow, I turn anywai, as it is allowed.

Then the cops on the bicyle pulled me over

cop: do u know y i pulled u over?

me: No, I duno, why?

Cop: U duno?

me: I didnt do anything wrong

Cop: U turn right when the light goes red,

Me: I did not, I turn when the light was still amber,

Cop: when the light goes amber, u still have to chance to stop but u didnt, and u turn, then its GREEN on the pedestrian crossing,

Me: as far as i know, as long as u passed the line when the light still yellow, its legally fine.

cop: NOPE, when light goes yelow, if u can stop u have to stop.

argue on and on, then he ask for license and took him 15 mins later to let me go.

i scared he asked me to pop the bonnet as i got POD, and my 3" exahust,

wats the deal with the light?

i mean, is he used that excuse to pull me over? cops are weird,

Hurts my brain to read that.. I hope English is a second language for you..

Yep illegal to run an orange if cop believes you had time to stop. Hes well within his rights to book you.

EDIT (aka translation): Illegal run orange cos cop see you stop. Always book you for that. :D

He probably knew it was borderline and was hoping you would admit fault! Had this happent to me. Cops pulled me over and asked me my speed, I said 60 he said 80 is said 60 I got off as he had no evidence :D (I was doing about 65 BTW)

if you are able to stop without causing an accident, then you are supposed to stop. happend to my dad, and my dad made up some good arument points, and the cop said he mite send a fine you just have to wait 2weeks and see LOL he didnt end up gettin a fine :P

What the cop said is correct if it's safe to stop you must stop on amber.

If it's not safe to stop ie: you're right ontop of the light when it changes, without enough time to pull up in a safe manner. Basically if its more dangerous/impossible to try and pull up than to proceed then and only then can you legally run the amber light.

Got let off for failing to indicate + borderline dangerous driving (0-100 to fast or so he said) myself last week.. with a $130 fine and 3 demerit points for the failure to indicate alone in the balance I was releaved more than just a lil bit to get away with only a warning.

I must be a lucky old Bastard, over the years I'd say my warnings to fines ratio is about 3-1

thats pritty anel of them to just pull u over for that.. musta been bored or somthing.

so they did they end up booking u or just hasle you for a wile?

he didnt give me a fine, just let me waited there for about 15 mins or so,

it was crowded shopping center, and its like am the center of attention...

My understanding of the traffic lights is that U allow to pass on amber as long as u pass the line marked before red, it is legal. Amber light means, If safe stop.

But cant give me a fine when the light is amber. just ridiculus, guess thats y he didnt,

Maybe he just pulled me over to check up and say hi maybe...LOL

At the end of the day he was just doing his job.. Don't feel too bad..

I was walking home from school today.. and a lady in a jeep was pulled over being RBT'd and she looked as if she was 35+??!!

Getting RBT'd at 3:20pm??!! She was probably going to pick up her kids..

Nah the lady probably couldn't drive the jeep - copper thought she was pissed :P

And to affirm what everyone else said it is ILLEGAL to run an orange light unless you do not have enough time to safely stop, the signal to stop is orange not red.

A mate of mine got fined for this exact thing last year. It can happen

IOWNU : they stand in front or the car, slow traffic at a busy shopping center ;)

well, i didnt get a fine, soo am lucki. I WAS scared of geting defect for the exahust 3" stainless

but was being polite, and yea, just wasted my 15 mins of goin back to work.

RONIN: well, honestly, i dun think that i did anything wrong,

turning right while the light still amber, while no oncoming traffic, i dun c how it is not allowed.

am well over it, coz all end well, no defects no fine.

happy days,

the end,

fromt RTA website

"A red traffic light means stop, green means go and yellow means you must stop if you can safely do so."

hehe, my bad, i was wrong,

but maybe i can argue that i wont be able to stop completely intime. ;)

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
