solution...unscrew cat.....enter fkn big hammer and steal"ram rod".....place ram rod in side cat....continue to strike ram rod with fkn big hammer until day light is seen through your meow meow.....take 1 peice of pipe and slide it inside cat and weld with mig welder...replace cat and no more smell...(oh btw this should be done on race cars only :D )

Or just put a pipe in through the cat.

that smell would b sulphur, sulpher reeks

DONT USE BP, use Optimax

i have no problems at all with optimax

my mate used to always use bp and his car pinged like a b***h! he took it to his mechanic and they drained it and threw it away, said that it is junk and to use optimax...

hmmmmm

From what I have read, Optimax has the highest levels of sulphur, and BP has the lowest... so I would think that optimax is worse.....

But anyhow, dont worry about the smell Denham, it's nothing.... My womans Astra has been making that smell from new, so I wouldn't worry. I've noticed some cars make that smell while some dont, and all the ones that have had it were brand new.

Zahos

thanks for the replys!

I will try optimax next fill up and see what happens! I dont want to gut the cat as i already got a notice from the epa saying my car is 2 loud, so if i was caught without a cat i would be in serious strife!

Al

its not 2 much fuel at high rpm cause it runs a constant 12.1 a/f ratio cause of the safc!

I get a similar sort of smell but it's not the fuel.

I know where mine comes from...

it's a gearbox boot/seal that's a bit stuffed and after a few 7,000 + RPM changes the smell starts to get inside the car.

Just a bit and you can smell it outside also!

Maybe that's what it is ?

    • This is just a dumb way of keeping the wastegate closed to make more boost. Undo it and either follow the factory setup or redo it properly. Manual boost controllers just use a spring preload to determine when to close in response to boost pressure so it no longer vents to atmosphere.
    • So for the wide band is a Bosch 4.9 correct for the Link G4+ along with a Can bus? Just get the Link gear or is generic ok too? Eg here: LINK LINK DIGITAL WIDEBAND CAN MODULE WITH BOSCH 4.9 SENSOR : KYP Performance House
    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
