wilch...the easiest way is to pull the bolt out that holds the back seat down on the passenger side...then put the extinguisher bracket there and put the bolt back through it.

that or just drill through the passenger floor, the holes are tiny you would never see them.

the bracket method needs a piece of metal as wide as the seat mounting bolts...take the seat bolts out and put the bracket under them, then seat bolts back in. Rivet the extinguisher bracket to the metal

BWA you need $85 for the licence and $29 for the extinguisher.

Yes we do need them Mr Baron and there is no requirement for metal brackets.

thanks for clearing that up. sorry for the mislead.

That makes things a bit easier, but for those wishing to use their extinguisher at other cams event my advice would be to go straight for the metal bracket one as all events i've entered require it.

i just got out the extinguisher to take a few pics that may help:

back of bracket (mine is bolted to the bracket)

fire rating (the 20 is the cruicial part, the bigger this number the better)

I made my bracket out of aluminium then machined it a little to give it that 'brushed aluminium' look and take off the sharp edges. one of the holes is elongated to make it easier to bolt down. because the floor is not flat it has a slight bow in it when done up tight.

So Wilch, I just realised that you seem to be expecting me to bring an extinguisher with me. I never got a reply from BWA to confirm this.

Can you please confirm your understanding of this? you could email me on bob at estc dot net dot au to make my life easier.

Not saying that's not a good method at all but thought I'd throw in an alternative.

I got a piece of metal (read: strong) and bent it at a 90 degree angle kind of an "L" shape. Long ways I've mounted the fire extinguisher on and the shorter side I've rivetted into the back of the console box in the rear. Basically where the drivetrain tunnel is between the 2 passenger footwells. Works great and keeps it out of the way of passengers in daily traffic mode.

I'd also like to say STAY AWAY FROM CHEAP ASSED FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.. Please. I bought a Chubb because I trust the name. I bought a 2 pack of fire extinguishers before this one only when I needed it BOTH FAILED (bought from a cheapo repco type store for $30 for the pair)... Beware!!

I've used 2 cable ties and put two grooves in the bracket to put them in. Works awesomely.

Is there anything they can't do?

That's probably the only situation I'd not use zip ties in just incase in impact they're gonna let go. Certain angles they love to snap (hence why they're suited to holding on my front bar haha)... Then again I spose you've probably thoguht of this already and got a few on there holding them from different angles :)

Question on passengers. Yes or No? If there's a drift session would love to take my gf.

agreed, like i said, i've used a few and some are very lame. the BFI one i posted above is the only one i buy now for use in my car. seen one of them in use before and it's awesome. minimum dischage time is 13secs too.

having said all that, i would be very surprised if any of you guys ever need one. it doesnt happen very often.

doodz, where do you live?

Marourba :)

Foud out how to get there now so it should be ok.

Just gotta figure out what time people will be there..

From the City of Sydney

Take the Eastern Distributor past Sydney Airport to the M5 motorway. Follow the M5 to the Camden Valley Way exit.

Follow Camden Valley way to Cobbitty Road, turn right into Cobbitty Road and the Cobbitty Road entrance is less than 5 minutes away.

From the Western Suburbs

Take the M4 to the Northern Road exit and follow Northern Road to Oran Park Raceway. Oran Park Raceway is about 25 minutes from the Northern Road exit of the M4.

From North of Sydney

Exit the Northern Freeway at Hornsby and follow the pacific Highway into the city, Take the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and follow the directions from the City of Sydney.

From South of Sydney

The easiest way is to find the M5 and take the M5 to the Camden Valley Way Exit as described above.

I just got the email from Nathan from RENEW.. I was wondering about the CAMS licences... Are we supposed to sort these out directly with cams to get the licence, or are we able to do this on the day or something? I've already submitted these forms to Abo Bob. Are you submitting these for us, or should we bring copies on the day?

I have a mental checklist of stuff to bring, please let me know if I'm missing something:

- Helmet

- CAMS Licence Application Form

- RENEW/Oran Park Track Day Entry Form

- Mounted Fire Extinguisher

- Tools/Oil/Maintenance stuff

- Long clothing/Leather shoes

- Car!

Also is anyone comming from out west.. like penrith or mt druitt?

So i can follow them?

OK easy run down on how to get to Oran Park.

People North of the bridge, simply head city way and go tunnel & Eastern Distributer.

People other side of bridge you simply follow the ED out towards the airport and continue to follow it until u reach a tunnel that literally goes under a runway.

Be in the left hand lanes thru this tunnel as once u get out the other side the road will split into 2.

One will go off to the Right signed for Canberra, you NEED to take the LEFT exit heading for Liverpool.

Now just follow this road for ages. It will turn into a freeway just after the King Georges Rd exit.

Follow the freeway for a good few km's. Now once u hit to toll booth's, it is the 4th exit on the left (Camden Valley Way EXIT), but it is actually called BEECH RD exit (same thing).

Take this and chuck a left @ the lights then u get to an intersection about 200m's up the road called "The Crossroads'.

Turn RIGHT at these lights and this is Camden Valley Way. Follow it for a long long time...maybe 20 mins. Once you get to the other side of a suburb called Catherine Fields its not far. Cobbity Road is on your right.

Pretty Easy really! :D

So what time are people turning up??

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
