I've owned an S2000 and a now an R33. Thought the S2000 would be car for life. I sold it after 3000km. It's an amazing achievement by Honda (240bhp/9000rpm/3 yr. Warranty) In practice, it's very hard work to keep it on song and not a great day to day car as a result. Would imagine it'd be quite useful on a circuit as the handling/engine combination is strong. Felt like it had no grunt below v-tec change at 6000rpm. Australian roads (and their speeds) don't suit it. I'm from the UK and grew up with Sierra Cosworths. The Skyline is the affordable loon weapon here and equally easy to get power from.

Brad - what are you doing on this forum? If you read the thread you'll see that the S2000 has 176kw, not 187.

(I know your Torana pulls 12s & you want to buy a Skyline so we'll let you off)

Slow gts-t - 53/47 is not 50/50 is it?

Slip - if you are referring to the HPI no.25 article mine IS the stock

yellow one!It now has a CPU upgrade, HKS exhaust, & carbon bonnet same as the white one Theo was driving in that article.

New article on my EVO7 Vs WRX sti coming out soon.

it's a bit embrass to say, but i beat by a M3 at Parade. It seems to be a faster car than mine... i only got aie filter and exhaust fitted.

To prevent it, i just bought a boost controller and a e-manage.

IT WON"T HAPPEN AGAIN!!

Munro- stock Evo/GTR, which is a better car for street racing??

Honda wouldnt have a chance methinks. S2000 has around 187kw if i remember rightly. Nice cars but.

think about the situation

a wrx can beta a skyline, a skyline can beta a wrx, all comes down to the driver and the launch

the S2000 has alot of power from a n/a engine, that power comes on alot slower then the skyline as the skyline is turboed to push it along faster.

but then look at the weight and you are getting closer

u will always hear and see stories of skylines beating s2000s beating wrxs beating 200sx

they all tend to have the same power to weight, just that the s2000 is n/a and doesnt come on power asmuch

the wrx skyline and 200sx are fairly equal and i would take any of them, ahd the skyline, 200sx is just as fun

The appeal of the S2000 is not straight line speed. With a 50/50 balance, and NA motor, you's take it out on weekends through some twisty roads. It helps to have power/torque though. The S2000 was designed with the same concept as the MX-5. FUN but on a more up market scale than the MX-5.

Having driven the MX-5, it's got no balls what-so-ever, but I have to admit it was just pure fun.

Much to my suprise late one night I beat a Black S2000 with a loud exhaust off the line and from a roll in my stock VX Commodore SS. Actually I think we were both a little suprised! Very nice car's though, a friend of mine sells Hondas and gets one every now and then and top down cruising is a good bit of fun!

Hmmm. A turbo 350Z.That would be cool.My shed is full though &

I already have 4 modified cars so I might have to pass the buck on that one Kabab.

I have used this phrase before I think but when comparing the EVO 7 to the R34 GTR I would have to say that the GTR is

" a whole nother level of badness ". the EVO is great fun, looks cool & is a very good car, but if I had to choose(& I will have to at some stage)the GTR has to win.It will take more punishment. If you dont do regular launches & dont thrash every time you drive then the EVO will last.If you are a caner like me, my advice would be go for a GTR.Besides, an R32 GTR is half the price of a good EVO.

    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
