sorry to have to create this thread guys.. but im desperate... ;)

i got pulled over about 3 weeks ago and done for driving high powered vihicle on my p's, they decided to be mean about it and defect me, do me again for power/weight, and then send me an EPA notice for vihicle emmisions test and noise test

cut a long story short, yes i was in the wrong, i had an r33 gts-t on my p's, i got caught, and yes the car was modified... that aside, the car is now for sale, i cant sell it becuase it has an EPA resting on it...

i returned the car to complete standard EXCEPT for a milotin muffler on the very rear of the standard exhaust

the car passes emmisions, but not noise test

so i desperatly need to borrow someones standard r33 catback exhaust

anyone who could help out, it would be much appreciated

thankyou

-Mark

Sorry to hear dude and well done for not jumping on here hating the Police. Why not get a cheap run around until you are off your p's and store the car elsewhere as it seems to be your pride and joy?

Sorry to hear buddy, rotten luck often happens to the most responsible of drivers.

If you are prepared to travel west (5min from Calder Park Rwy), i have the full stock exhaust. Never had to use it, after i put on my aftermarket system on, but i am pretty certain it is complete.

if justins 4door dosnt fit mark, take a pic under the car where the rear muffler joins i may have one that will fit, if it joins just on the end it will work. its a muffler/tip super quite.

talk to ya on msn remind me about it.

thanks heaps guys for the replys... goes to show this club really does have a great bunch of members.. the reason im selling it is because ive been done for driving high powered vihicle in my own suburb twice now, both within a very short space of time, and as ironic as it sounds.. came very close to getting done in my own street too,

i'd love to hold onto the car ... but reality is, i have 2 and 3/4 years until i can legally drive it again, and its hurting me too much just sitting in the garage, its my pride and joy, and making the decision to sell it has really cut me up.... i wanted the time to come where i felt i should move on and sell the car, not be forced into a corner with very few options, however in many ways i brought it upon myself by taking the risk, with the attitude of "it won't happen to me"

the club has influenced me greatly over the last year of owning the car, and have made many friends that i decided to purchase, yet another skyline :)

.... so sitting next to my R33 is my new R32 GTS-4

i'll pm a few people, looks like i shouldnt have any worries getting a lend of a standard exhaust thanks to all you guys :P

just hope to remove this stupid Green EPA defect sticker

and begin advertising my baby :P

mmm ahh well.. they cant touch me in my stock r32 gts-4 ;)

however its a shame, eltham is turning into the new knox

talked to a few guys in the area who have suffered my same fate

Damn!!!

Reading you post i just thought, "ah poor guy, he must live near Knox". But you only live in Eltham :P, there are so many good roads there, i was planning a small cruise with some mates, will have to reconsider :(

nah Al.. you'll be fine... your off your p plates, your car is extreamly clean,

only reason i got done was becuase it was 2 in the morning, bored cops at booze bus, one of them clicked that it was over power/weight, and one of my headlights had just blown, hence the reason why they were interested to see what else was "wrong with it"

allthough they are quite picky on the whole "high mount brake light" as i didnt have one after removing standard spoiler and replacing with stealth wing!

... but by all means drive to eltham.. im just working it up to be more then it is coz i got done bad lol

great roads around here, moreso kangaroo ground, warrendyte, kinglake and st andrews all have fantastic roads

you can still get to them by avoiding eltham though.. just have to drive around through say greensborough or diamond creek!

thats if your extreamly paranoid... mums been driving my car round a bit in eltham.. and they dont seem to care coz the car doesnt have p plates on it!

Would have avoided Eltham as it is shorter to go through Greensborough bypass/Diamond Creek :).

I too need to fix a 3rd brake light, have been putting it off for too long :(. Have a feeling that they will definately pick on this, if i was ever pulled over.

PS: Told ya to remove your stealth wing

j/k: making a light joke from a grim situaton

    • From my youth: GTi-R clutch change is a massive pain. The gearboxes are fragile? But the car is super cool and I want one 😢

    • Driveline vibration is resolved. I ended up loosening all my engine mount and trans mount bolts, giving it a good shake then retightening everything and it's gone... Let's just say I was surprised that fixed it.  I've been happily driving it around again but unfortunately put zero time into my direct port/constant pressure WMI setup. I'm on vacation next week, so I'll try and finalize it then.  On a different note, I spent all week fuel/ignition mapping 2x 216L V16 engines. Turbo's were burning glycol and we swapped them out for larger units. We also had planned emissions testing on site, so I figured I'd be there the same week to use their instrumentation and massage any emissions issues out if needed. This was a first for me. Fuel management is similar in certain ways to automotive (i.e air density as load variable) but very different in others. It's all PLC based and AFR's are controlled by air and not fuel. They use a control valve between the turbo and air manifold to control pressure which in turn controls AFR's. Due to this, target AFR tables supplied by the OEM are in pressures and not mass which really through me off. They use air pressure vs fuel pressure tables. I also relied on an O2 concentration sensor the emissions team had in the exhaust. Ignition timing was also all over the place and we were losing a fair bit of power. They're now happily sitting at 16-40BTDC depending on load. We were making about 1600kw at 900rpm at 90% load. Engines were running a lot smoother as well.
    • heh, aint no R32 ever meeting modern targa cage rules unless the driver is veeeery short OP, good luck with the sale, since its already in the land of freedom I'm sure you will find a good buyer.
    • meh, it was a good video, clear about the issue and how he dealt with it. A bit heavy on the RTV and very brave to put an RB in anything without rebuilding it first, but otherwise I thought it was good Dose, I'm not sure that having the pickup forward is a big issue; yes of course the oil could shift under brakes but the sump should never be empty enough for that to be a problem (unless you also have a higher volume oil pump, and that oil can't return from the head to the sump quickly enough)
