got the car dynod. less power then i was hoping for. but then half that is due to the bad tune the car has as showen by the A/F ratio. car runs insanily rich downlow but gets to about perfect up top.

im not too worryed about the lowish rwkw. the power curve is really nice and it holds peak power quite well.

not sure what timing i was running on the day.

its about the same power of a stock r32 GTST

so what are your guys opinions of the over all result?

overall im happy with it. alot of people are impressed with it.

now all i need is some coil overs to sort out the handling and somthing to sort out the A/F ratio to lean it out down low.

it is a lovly power curve even if i do say so myself. interesting how the peak Kw stays there for pretty much 2000rpm...

its impressed everybody that has been in it so far. but most importantly im happy

haha yup its plenty of fun.. its going to be interesting on 205 crap tyres at the drags tomorow on a bad surface with gravel cus its a airport runway.

i already spun them up accidently with out even trying.. stupid torque.. haha

yeah not sure weather to get safc or just to go for a ecu.. but then i need to get my other mods.

first of all i need some $$

torque is only like that due to the air fuel ratio being so rich down low and the tune isnt right. once i get a air fuel controler it should be alot smoother.

there is a good write up with pics in the thread "my rb30de"

heres the basic specs anyway.

compression is 10.43:1, stock r33 rb25de ecu, custom extractors and 2.5" mandrel bent exhuast.

intake is just a stock rb25de pleninum with custom 3" intake pipe and pod filter.

stock injectors, fuel pump, cams. runs VVT or VCT

haha how fun it is to be spinning up through first, 2nd and half of 3rd in the drags even when your only launching at 1500rpm. sittin on the spot at 3500rpm

the surface of the track was absoule crap with plenty of gravel. my best time for the 200m was 10.5 still good fun tho :)

Hey Geoff - thanks again for the blat, I've always wanted to see what an RB30DE felt like... I love the effect having the motor balanced has had on the old RB30E bottom end  Sounded very nice as well, particularly the induction noise.

Going in the car you can tell the motor would like to make a bit more grunt with some tuning.

FYI though - that dyno graph doesn't show your car running rich down low, it shows you running lean... then dropping down to a safer but still a bit lean air fuel ratio. So yeah, if you get an S-AFC - if you're going to make any adjustments before putting it on the dyno... bump up your fuelling down low.

GDAY . Those figures seem ok to me . High performance imports magazine got close to that figure with an r33 rb25det after a good tune and a few minor mods .

My engine is very close to what you have , and my times at the drags ( 1/4 mile ) are near identical to what a stock r33 rb25det should do .

The difference in my engine is 370 cc rb25det injectors , twin throttle bodies and i run an apexi safc 2 .

cheers lith

the only reason i thought it was running rich was cus thats what andre told me. plus that would explain the poor fuel econmany even on long distance driving. but then again that might be down to the tune of the car plus being an auto ecu...

yeah don im now sorta aiming towards your mods to help gain performance etc. i will be interested to see your dyno results when you get yours done. how long till you do your one? how did you tune the safc?

i been thinkin about getting it dynoed for the last 2 years , cant rush these things .

the safc tuning kind of guessing . As i run a rb25de ecu and i have an engine 20 % bigger , i justed figured it needed at least 20 % more fuel plus a bit more for having more air via the 2 x throttle bodies and extractors . From idle to around 3000 rpm it has an extra 10 up to 30 % at high throttle 3000rpm and above 30 % . low throttle settings are all set at 5% below this

get it dynoed and tune it at the same time

most prfessional dyno guys have lots of experience with dyno tuning and u might find a better result after a couple hours on the dyno tuning the ecu/safc2 properly

then at the salt lake trials u might run ur magic number of 240kph

yeah i have now realised its running lean. i had to sit down and think plus listen to my mate lith and then understand the airfuel ratio.

iv knocked back the timing a little just to be safe. but i need to get an airfuel controler to sort it out properly.

still got a slight oil leak.. but i have found where it is now.. stupid external oil feed this time down by the oil pressure sender so thats gona be fun to get at.... now i have learnt to lock tight on everything...

AHA got that wrong . i dug out that magazine i quoted from HPI 48 . They tested a r3 4 door auto RB25DE and base figure was 105 rwkw . They played with timing , air intake and tried a fuel cut defender and got it up to 121 rwkw .

true true. yeah you can gain a bit of power with a good tune and good timing easy. thats what mine needs.

i will probly get mine dyno tuned once i have the bits i need to get this all sorted. i.e rb25det injectors and air/fuel ratio controler

hehe damn it sounds scary in tunnels :(

Dondesoto: can u pls scan the page and upload them?

thanks!

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
