Hey man im at my course now so i can reply immediately cose its sooooo boring i cant be f*$ked listening to teacher... . Wrong man, its a RB25DET engine not RB20DET engine =). 2.5l turbo but im taking turbo off cose of insurance and my parents either 2moro or on friday so its gonna suck but still great car I love it. Also, where is a good wrecker in livo, fairfield area? Prefeferably nissan or Jap imports dealer? and also... the date and time of meet up plz

What the ?????

Dude, Ronin is right, unless you have had a transplant... R32=RB20DET - 2.0L.

Taking the tubo off doesn't sound like a good idea to me - the compression will be too low for an NA. Not sure how good that would be for you.

Cheers,

DarkZero: unless your car has had an engine conversion it would appear you are incorrect. The R32 GTST uses an RB20DET not RB25DET.

Also as Brendan said, taking the turbo off your car to avoid insurance problems is rather foolish. Not only will your car run very very bad but you will loose any resale value you would have had on the car and it will prove to me more hassle than its worth.

If you must have NA then surely you would sell your car as is and buy a non turbo.

PS: im sure all will be revealed on Saturday night when you pop your bonnet for us. If we find as we suspect and your engine is an RB20DET we may have no choice but to nominate you to pay for all the pizza :D

Mr R32 is here!

It sounds like a transplant as R32 came in RB/20DET/25DE/26DETT.

Taking the turbo will make you slower than R32's with a RB25, cause like others have said, compression is too low, and may play funny games with the ECU.

hey guys

just hyping u on fellas see if u know about skylines lol =)))). Its a RB25DE (no T) but they can have Turbo bolton. so it is a non turbo GTS25 (still 2.5l not 2.0l). hopefully i'll be there to pop up the bonnet but i need to clean the engine its dirty as inside since i just got it. and Im not paying for pizza as this damn car set me broke =(

sorry for being a dhead and thanks for ur comments u guys know what u talk about although they do come in turbo but mine aint =)

it's more than just a bolt on cause, now it's too much of a high compression :D and the ECU will not take too likely to a turbocharger being wacked on.

Sorry to say but transplant is the best way to go.

Hey

Yeah, transplant is better ofcourse but im only 18 with red ps and no money so that is no option (how much? $3500 for new engine with turbo?) plus insurance on top of everything its a car which gets me from a to b (in style and fair power =)).

I need to get a new front grill and badges off wrecker. I'll have a look at the one stated above unless some1 here has spare ones for sale?

Thanks

It's easier if you sell it off and get a car that's turbo from factory cause insurance companies will consider the car as "modified". You need engineer's certificate, upgrade brakes to match the power and maybe other things. It's a headache you can do without. Talk to the guys at the cruise and they'll tell you the same thing and maybe even more.

As I said... no performance mods for near future except air filter, exhaust and all that cheapy stuff. Also what does premium unleaded do? any extra performance or is it just healthier for engine. For my R32 2.5l what is better? Unleaded or premium unleaded?

Thanks for your opinions dudes

I gotta go with you boyz on this one. R32 is 2 litre unless its had an engine replacement, and i guess theres more work in putting the bigger engine than just pop it in, and why would you bother. You would just by a 33, they are cheap enough...anyway I havent even heard of the 2.5 non turbo thingy (bloody noob I am)i'll sell you mine for 50 grand (good virgin exhausts are pullin this type of cash these days...mark my words)

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
