Hi guys , Just found this forum have read many posts already and let me say its a great community you have going here .

I recently imported a 94 skyline gtst M spec and I was wondering if I should have got more than one key , I saw in the owners manual about 4 different types and the only one I recieved is the one with the round plastic head .

Is there supposed to be one with a couple of buttons on it for the doors etc ?

Any help is appreciated .

i dont think it would have buttons on the key as its a 94 model and not to sure if they came out with standard imobiliser preety sure they didnt

as for the key yes get one cut straght away you dont want to lose your original pay afew hundred to get the locks changed or fixed

i think you should have gotten at least 2 keys.

1.) the key you are talking about with the balck plastic head with the skyline symbol on it.

and

2.) a key that can only start the car and will not open the glove box and the boot,where the other one will.

there is another key you were talking about with buttons on it i think this might be for those people in japan that wanted the option of a trunk release etc... but im not 100% sure on this.

well i got only 1 key with mine ... i got it cut immediately ... i also got a seperate central locking immobiliser thingy with it ... but i'm not sure it was immobiliser but it did the central locking ... anyways its a good idea to get it cut straight away ... a mate with a honda civic ... 98 model lost all his keys ... had to go back to the dealer to cut more keys and it cost him over 1 grand cause honda keys are special ... computer codes or something and integrated alarm system ... it only costs like 5 bucks to get cut ... cheap insurance i think ...

Pops, you're right about the valet key - I read about it in the owner's manual.

The idea is you can give that key to the valet parking guy when you go to the opera (hahahahahaha) & it lets him drive the car but not get into the parts where you keep your valuables - ie: glovebox and/or boot.

it's a nice idea. Buggered if I know how many people ever use it.

Akeenan I think your right on the mark there I think its called a valet key which I didnt recieve , thanks for the info .

is the key that opens the central locking an option or standard?

i think it would have to be an option because im pretty sure the driver side door motor would have to be replaced with a master for the remote to unlock/lock all doors. This is what happens when you get an alarm fitted that has central locking you need to replace the driver side motor.

i got two - neither with a plastic head - infact i must say ive got one of the most goddamn biggest uglist keys you've ever seen - i dont even know how to describe it but up the top its got all these swirly patterns eeek its awful. And the other one more pleaseing to the eye but nothing special.

Both open glove compartments etc - wish i had the proper skyline key *sniff sniff*

I too only received the one key with the plastic head on it so I got another few cut as spares, just in case.

The guy who cuy my spare keys said that Nissan keys have a tendancy to wear out and suggested using the cut spare one more often. Also, be careful when getting them cut as it took these guys 3 attempts before they cut copies that worked.

The first would open doors and boot but not start car, the second didn't open anything and the third set finally worked.

Rough price for a genuine Nissan key (from Japan) at least $300 !!!

does anyone know if anyone in australia can have the keys cut by just supplying a code? i remember when i had my honda civic (australian delivered) all i had to do is go to a locksmith and quote a code which was stamped into the original key. and within minutes had a brand spanking new key. i had one cut at mister minit before but didnt work because it was too worn. i just got my skyline and there are numbers stamped on that key as well. i wonder if it is still the case with imported cars? Does anyone know what i'm talking about or had it done for an import?

    • HPA do an interesting video on tuning, and Adrian shows on the dyno, moving from 10:1 to 12:1 (And I think even 13:1) and the power moves SFA. However, a couple of degrees of timing has a HUGE impact. Exhaust side of things will more be the length of the exhaust and how many bends and turns you have. The straighter you can keep it, the better. By a lot. Oh, and getting the diameter right. Bigger isn't always better. Going to big can actually lose you power.
    • I have to say, most people I see on the road fit the bill of atrocious drivers. Whether they be cowboys in their dual cabs, bogans in the Commodores, or the soccer mums. Pretty much most people on the road put zero freaking thought into driving. Barely look further up the road then the end of their bonnet, and have never even thought about how catastrophically wrong shit can go, by doing what they all deem as normal driving. Especially their late braking, racing to stopped lights, and sitting half a foot off the bumper of the car in front at 110km/h. Wanna know what's even better? By the time their kids get to be old enough to learn to drive, they've already got in the back of their brain what is normal driving, how annoyed you're allowed to get at people etc, and then their parents who actually have zero freaking skill at driving (Even though they constantly say "I've been driving for 20 years and never had an accident!") teach the little twerps how to drive, or should I say, how to make a car move. Literally watched a parent teach their L Plater, on a 4 lane freeway, that you just slam the brakes on, and push your way over, even with a B Double bearing down on you, and that's how you should drive, rather then, just keep going to the next exit. Same shit happens all the time for side streets etc, watching numpties pull dumb shit turns pushing across 3 lanes of traffic, rather than just go up the road another 30 seconds, and take the next turn that'll get you to the same location... Oh, and the damn right lane bandits. Or the retards driving along with their headphones in, and can't hear the ambulance or fire truck right up their ass about to run them over...   Pretty much, people drive on the road, like ego centric f**ks, and don't actually think how dumb shit their driving is, how it could easily kill them or someone else in a split second, or at the very least, how they're driving is contributing to all the shit they're bitching about on the road, like shitty congestion!
