Unlucky mate, did you get the standard BOV when you purchase the car ? If so just fit that one on, cause all aftermarket BOV that vents into the atmosphere are illegal. I think you can get permits for the neons now days, correct me if im wrong. And yeah get yourself some decent rubbers dont want to be power drifting on a wet day all over the road haha.

Neons are legal, provided you only see the glow/hue of them, if you can see the light source itself when they are on, you need to fix that up..

bov, provided its not too loud should pass

tyres are tyres, if they are legal go over the pits with them

as for the parcel shelf, provided there has been no steel cut out of it, should be fine, if it has had steel cut out, its a 10k fine for wheoever did it if its a shop, and i think you may be liable for a fine if it was you..

easiest thing to do is run it over the pits and see what they say, 90% of stickers are just time wasters

ahh... unlucky dude,

I had neon’s on my old car they were blue, got over the pits no worries and got permits. Just make sure there secured properly, tubes aren’t visible, are on a separate switch which has an inline fuse on it.

Not sure about BOVs i think there legal if there not too loud or vent into the atmosphere.

I agree with Wildcat i thought that red neons were not legal...

Not 100% sure on that though.

ATMO BOV's are definitely not legal. Chuck the stocker back on, if you do not have it chuck a post up. One of the fine folk on the forums will lend you one.

well i just bought this car off a dealer like 2 weeks ago and what he did to get it over the pits is just disconected the BOV and the tires also past. cops didnt get me for my pod wonder why. also i took out the child restrainers and put 6*9 in so i guess i just put the child restrainers in. or yous think i will pass with the 6*9s in the back shelve??

the reason they didnt do you for pod is because pod filters are legal nopermit is required refer ei-107a fro dpi

Vehicle Intake and Exhaust Systems

Pre ADR 27C Vehicles

There is evidence to suggest that many ‘hang-on’ emission control devices for these vehicles

are no longer available from original equipment manufacturers and/or spare parts suppliers.

This applies to vehicles manufactured prior to 31 January 1986.

Taking into consideration the non-availability of emission control components, examiners do

not need to insist on original equipment emission control systems being intact.

Consequently vehicle examiners do not need to issue a modification permit for exhaust

extractors.

It is also unnecessary to issue a modification permit for non-genuine air filters providing

induction noise is not excessive. These include cone or pod type filters.

Not withstanding the above, vehicles must continue to comply with the Road Traffic (Vehicle

Standards) Rules 2002 with respect to the emission of smoke.

Post ADR 37 Vehicles

Vehicles manufactured from 1 February 1986 must continue to comply with the applicable

design rule for the year of manufacture (Australian Design Rule 37/00, 37/01, 79/00 or

79/01).

Catalytic converters and other emission control devices must be retained and functioning

correctly. However where exhaust extractors are fitted a modification permit is not required.

It is also unnecessary to issue a modification permit for non-genuine air filters providing

induction noise is not excessive and that all engine management sensors are fitted and

operating. These include cone or pod type filters.

Yeah I have read that red and blue neons were illegal as those colours are reserved for emergency vehicles (think there was a thread previously about it).

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?  
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.  
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
