today is a bad day, had an accident 20 minutes ago.

coming home down springvale road and it was pissing down all of a sudden.

turn into road to my house and accellerate and lost all traction in front wheels and smacked a 300zx on the other side of the road.

It happened in one second, my froint right side connected to the 300zx front panel, took out his side mirror and quite a bit of paint.

I didn't want this to happen, and i was just thinking "what am i gonna do, what am i gonna do???"

So i got out, not a happy face, the guy was so cut, i could tell he could barely keep his steam.

i yell out "Are you ok mate?" Are you alright?"

His answer is "You idiot, what do you think you were doing? You wrecked my car!"

I'm spluttering sorry, it was an accident, road was wet. And he continues being full on abusive. I can't say anything cos its clearly my fault. Why did i have to hit a performance car....?

Gave him my license and pen paper. He kept on swearing that the pen was no good, no ink or some shit.

To top it off who comes around the corner but my dad. I waved him over, its all over now....

My dad asks me did i give him my license and if i took his. I said yep trying to anticipate his reaction.

the top bloke finally takes down my details, he even rings up vicroads to see if i have a valid license.

Well i want to cut things short, the guy finally left, not very happy, even swearing in front of my dad. I'm not exactly happy either. I drive 2 minutes and arrive home soaking wet from standing in the rain.

Damage to the car is pretty bad. Right headlight is gone, so is the quarter panel (if you can imagine what cheese looks like grated? thats what my front panel looks like, grated against the 300zx), driver door doesn't open properly (have to yank it and it makes a deep groaning noise), front bar is falling off, can see the internals of engine, surprisingly the bonnet looks ok.

FAAARK im just so shaken up and couldn't believe it happened. I want to cry but i can't. I know most people get accidents at least once in their life, i didn't believe that was true till today. While i was driving my mind was in a haze, i guess i was tired from work and thinking about other prospects. Its not a good day.

P.S can anyone plz tell me how the procedure goes in making a claim thru insurance. I have no experience in this and i really need your help.

:P

choP! thats no good! but dont let it bother u... just try and relax about the whole thing... i know its hard but its not worth worrying urself over... call ur insurance company and tell them uve been invovled in an accident and they will get all the details etc.

as for not getting the line... u can get that thought out of ur head... i had an accident just before getting my line bu that didnt stop me... its a learning experience and u will be a lot more cautious from now on because of it.

one thing i would advise is once u do get it enroll in some driving courses as in defensive etc.

its all good!

Still, no matter what the accident - your premium will rocket into space.

Most insurance companies have a 24hour report line to report the accident, but maybe its better to have a couple of days to calm down and speak to them.

Bad co-incidence you ended up hitting another import though! I know if somebody hit my car I'd be equally angry though. Its not so bad if its a local car, but if its an import and you care about it then its hard to be calm.

chopobo, sorry to hear what happened today.. I drove down to ballarat and it was pissing rain badly also.. relax and chill for 1 sec.. You are insured right? what bout the 300zx guy is he insured also? if so what insurance company are you with? what is the access price? eg: mine is $600. If it costs you more to repair your damages then claim it through insurance as you only pay the access price. Im with Just Cars and pay an extra $36 a year for extra coverage. That means if I make a claim once each year, I will still be on rating 1. If you have this, then I suggest you to claim it all on insurance. Right now ring them up and let them know the situation.

im jus pissed of at that guy in the 300zx, he showed no manners at all, just started swearing at me, calling me shit and even being racist.

no happy.

well actually if someone hit me id pay out too...i spose its just natural reaction....

bad luck dude... u will have to be careful in the rain in the skyline.

I would be pissed too if someone hit my car. Its natural reaction if u love your car that much. Dont worry too much about the drivers reaction.

My dads a pretty cool guy, but he just picked up a brand new mercedes clk and someone did a u turn in front of us when we were doing 100km/h. The car only had 500km and my dad was so pissed off that the guy who did the u turn wet his pants when my dad was screaming at him.

Call your insurance company and get it all sorted. No point in waiting and making the dude in the 300zx wait too.

are u ok now? try to relax...should feel glad nothing happened to ya:)

my accident b4 i get my line is much more worser than urs:)i totally lost my first car! so cheer up:) its not that bad

as for that guy...its normal for that kind of a reaction....if someone hit my car like that...i think i will b more crazy than that....just something u can't imangine!:P

dont worry too much

just report the whole scene to ur insurance company

by the way...is it under ur name or ur parents? do they put u down as second driver?...

yeah thanks guys

insurance right now is an iffy

its under my dads name but they will cover me if im an occasional driver. how do they justify that? do they need witnesses?

anyways yeah i understand, its just why did i have to hit a performance car.

What I have learnt from other drivers and stuff is that if you are involved in an accident never say I did this or I didn't do this. Simply exchange details, ensure no one is injured and road is clear or at least safe etc... Work out the details of whos fault later with the insurance company. The minute u goto the person you hit or who hit you and you say I was just... or I didnt see... they you've already admitted fault or diligence which instantly voids most insurance policies. Not having a go at you at all, just some general advice. I know its hard, I mean if I slid out or hit someone i say the same sorta thing, but try and keep it for the insurance company let them sort it out. Never say to another driver what you were or werent doing, it gives them evidence and verbal admittance to faults etc..

Don't put the 33 off though.

still get it.

I wrote of a Calais Turbo in Dec in the wet.

Only had it a week and no insurance. 9500 down the tube.

didn't put me off car's/performance/speed.

nothing.

It comes back after a few weeks... but you do need an accident sometimes (bad as it sounds) cause it snaps you back into reality... cars are only as good as the driver and even then things can go wrong.

Also i'm 200 times more cautious in the wet, but gimme a dry road... i still push limits, if you don't you'll never know where the limit is

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
