the hiflow cat is an oxymoron.

It should be called the 'no-flow cat'. Remove it and the power will rise especially at the boosting point onwards. Have a look inside a so called hiflow cat and you will notice that the cross section is well over 50% (very conservative) blocked by catalyst.

You can easily get a de-cat pipe made with a convenient 3 bolt flange so you can remove and replace for street or motorsport.

if you're interested in a hf cat, a guy on these forums can get catco 3 inch ss for about 160 i think. check the fs section

as for punching the cat, ive *heard* that this causes turbulance that will slow u down if anything. but wen my mate did it, his car felt a lot quicker, so who no's?

but if u wanna risk it, or for track, then id say get a catout pipe too - no restrictions there...

In some countrys cat convertors are banned!! Why you ask? Well as soon as they are passed there used by date (approx 40K-60K Klms) they stop working and start putting out very bad emmisions indeed. After speaking to some people in the automotive industry, its quite abviously a nice little scam indeed. Don't feel bad if you don't have one, as long as your car is in good tune the enviroment is probably better off than with a clogged/stuffed cat.

MAN I AGREE TOTALLY WITH THE TONKAU, CATS ARE A LOAD OF SHITE THEY NEVER WORK UNLESS THYRE NEW

ANYWAYS FOR ALL YOU TREE HUGGERS WORRIED ABOUT EMISSIONS DON'T BUY A SKYLINE AS THEY ARE THE WORST FOR EMISSIONS ANY WONDER WHY THE JAPS AREN'T MAKING THE RB SERIES ENGINE??? AND IF YOU ARE A TREE HUGGER BUGGER OFF OUR SITE

Hi.

I've heard this before,

is there anyway to prove that if you were caught without a cat at all, some sort of Cert or something

SIKR33: calm down:)

When your car gets 'complied', they replace the CAT for that exact reason...

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG is has not responded to my emails so far after purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
