Exactly right there Vspac, cops only bust ya if u are talking trash. Now some ppl say "i was being polite and everything" u gotta be genuine. When i ran that orange last thurs the cops said 2 things "we would have nailed ya if u werent so apologetic" and "wel ure obviously not an idiot" i take that second as a compliment :P

fair enuff maybe the cop was just an ahole but i have never met a cop that busted me unfairly. Mind if i ask if u are of aussie appearance or not? the cops are easier on the locals if u get my meaning, seeing as the majority of em are white males anyhow. I think some may have gripes against asian looking ppl driving cars they wish but know they could never own.

no offense intended here fellas so dont get rilled up, just and observation.

Nice observation there shaun, i'd have to agree with ya there.

In my line i've never had a cop bust me. I got pulled over in freo at night and he picked on my BOV, but i was geniune and said "look mate, i know they're illegal, so im taking it off... i dont like it anyway" blah blah blah.

and no yellow sticker for me. SCORE!

(nb, I didnt remove the BOV)

the cop was sorta alight about it, and let me go.

now, my previous rice-mobile left alot to be desired, 3 yellows and constant cop attention was crap. grrr...

Tell me how a cop is supposed to know the stock ride height of an Evo VI and brake size? I wouldnt expect a cop to know my stock ride height and brake size. To give you an idea of my cop experiences, one day when I owned a hyundai coupe I was doing 100+ in a 60km zone, a cop car going the opposite direction saw me and decided to pull me over, only problem was he was stuck in traffic. So I saw his lights come on and siren go off, as soon as that happened I slowed down and stoped and pulled over for him. After 2-3 minutes he caught me up and got out. Asked me if I knew how fast I was going to which I replied no (never admit how fast you are going) in the end he mentioned 90 something, gave me a fine for $150 (remember thats still 30km over the limit) and 3 demerit points. So I lost the right amount of points, but only got charged for like 10km's over the limit. In the end he was nice about it all all because I pulled over and stopped. If I had raced off and tried to loose him, it would have been far far worse. Ok not all cops are like this, but being polite goes a long way most times.

They can't go the stock setup of everycar as they are so different.

thats why theres the ADR's which the majority of the cops don't know and the rest don't know very much of it.

with an evo VI all there gonna see is kitted out lancer, no use arguing with them just gotta be nice and explain its an imported car and this the way it is.

otherwise if you have mods on your car and no permits its your own fault.

11-20 is 1 point, $100

21-30 is 3 points, $150

31-40 is 4 points, $250, had a few of these :P

41-45 is 6 points, $350.

Friend who bought one of my old tx3's had this sort of hassle..

his gf was driving at the time and got pulled over as they heard the stupidly loud ssr BOV..

cop proceeded to pop the bonnet then tell her that lasers never came with a turbo motor and 4wd..

ignorance is a wonderful thing..

there are alot of cops out there that are real good ppl and are easy to get along with, but the few that are a*s holes spoil it for the rest of them.in my previous car (not a 'line) i had permits for absolutly EVERYTHING, and i still managed to get a yellow for something that was on the permit, his excuse was that in his opinion it was illegal and therefore i would have to get it inspected, and i was being very civil to this cop, so trust me permits are a great help most of the time, but if for some reason the cop really wants to sticker you, they will, permit or no permit, but as most of you have said, it comes down to attitude, most of the time, be just dont be a d*ck head towards them and they are USUALLY ok, not all the time.

my 2c worth :P

Unfortunately, the traffic cops job is not to know everything single mod and where it is illegal or not, if he suspects that something is amiss then he will yellow sticker it... Its the dudes down at the licensing centre to know the ADR rules... :P

This site tells you some info about what you need a permit for and what you dont...

What's the "still 30km over" thing? Are you referring to when its automatic suspension of lisence? I thought if you were doing more that double the speed limit it was automatic loss of lisence?

My dad was a cop - he told me they can give you a yellow sticker if the lights on your radio and heater controls don't work!! I agree - some cops have a chip on thier shoulder and think they are all that anda bag of chips - buuttt. alot of cops will treat you fairly. And the issue with them having to know EVERY illegal/legal mod etc to any vehicle - this is not humanly possible. Pharmacists don't how to make every drug in the book, they look it up, doctors don't how to pescribe to every illness - they look it up. Cops are only human

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
